Whatever might divide us, there are some fundamental things that unite us, no matter our background, color, or creed: our love of cat pics, our desire to have longer weekends, and—finally—remembering incredibly awkward moments from the past that make us cringe internally and facepalm to this very day. Remember that super embarrassing thing you did in the 6th grade/during that party at college/last week at work? Yeah, it’s time to think about that all over again.
However, what’s far worse is being unable to recognize when someone's making an utter fool of themselves and making others feel very uncomfortable. Sometimes, people are so oblivious, others can’t help but screenshot their messages and online posts to share with the world. It works as the perfect how-to guide on what we should never, ever do, and Bored Panda has compiled for you this list of all the times people weren’t aware of their own cringe.
Upvote the pics that made you lose a bit of faith in humanity and let us know which of these screenshots you loved/hated the most, dear Pandas. Though keep in mind that however embarrassed we might be by our memories of acting awkwardly, it’s best to embrace these feelings instead of running away from them. Then, we have to move on from them instead of lingering on them constantly because it’s bad for our mental health. In short, we have to learn to be kind to ourselves. No matter what.

Bored Panda had a chat about how to make our mental health our priority in life with British psychotherapist Silva Neves. He explained that at the core of our mental welfare lie the ideas that we should be compassionate to ourselves and that we should work hard to make looking after our mental health a daily habit. “Be kind to yourself,” Silva told Bored Panda.
“I think we should make our mental health a priority every day because if we have poor mental health then we cannot function in other areas of our lives,” the psychotherapist explained to Bored Panda that the need to put mental health at the top of our hierarchy of priorities is very clear. If we don’t look after our mental health, everything else can fall apart.

“Looking after our mental health should be a daily routine like we have a daily routine with looking after our body: taking a shower, brushing our teeth, eating food,” Silva said. He noted that taking care of our mental health doesn’t have to take hours and hours: it can involve a series of small steps that, nonetheless, have a large impact on our welfare.
“A daily mental health routine is to take some time to breathe deeply and consciously, having a short moment of quiet and self-reflection enquiring with how you are doing, connecting with a good friend or a pet, having a quiet cup of tea, listening to your favorite music (and dancing to it if you wish), laughing. These are only a few of the very many quick ways you can look after your mental health every day,” he explained.

A while back, I also spoke to Vanessa Bohns from Cornell University about how embarrassment has its positive sides. By fully embracing embarrassment instead of hiding from it, you can reap some seriously great social rewards.
“Displaying signs of mild embarrassment can actually be socially constructive and make people feel more sympathetic towards you in the face of your faux pas,” Vanessa told Bored Panda in a previous interview that showing these signs can actually strengthen your relationship with the people around you. On the flip side, pretending you’re not embarrassed or feeling awkward when you are can cause your social capital to drop.

Vanessa noted, however, that we should strive to prevent our embarrassment from turning into shame. While blushing a bit is perfectly fine and even healthy, deep-seated shame leads to serious long-term problems.
“What you want to be careful not to do is to let embarrassment morph into the more destructive self-conscious emotion of shame, where you feel so badly about a minor mistake that you start to think there is something wrong with you and feel the need to completely disappear and hide away yourself,” she said.

So even if we do mess up and post something cringey on social media or send out a message that makes others feel very uncomfortable, we have to embrace our embarrassment and prevent it from morphing into shame. At the end of the day, we have to forgive ourselves and focus on our mental health. And that means being kind to ourselves no matter our mistakes in public. Though… that requires being aware of these mistakes in the first place!

Did you tie it tightly around you neck? Or did you make a mask out of a plastic bag? Or are you simply a lying moron?
Ah yes this is why surgeons forget what they’re doing in the middle of surgery and faint from lack of air so often 🙄
These same people would sue if they got sepsis from their surgeons not wearing a mask
Load More Replies...if these anti-mask/ vaccine idiots would just be honest and say I don't want to wear a mask or get a vaccine because I don't like them and i refuse to give a s**t about anyone else but me, rather than make up b.S., i would still not respect them but, maybe at least not want to kick them in the the throat.
I'd like to see someone call her out on this. " Oh no! Grandma, you're having episodes of sudden memory loss?! We better get you to the doctor right away! We will make sure to get you the best treatment we can for your dementia. "

Load More Replies...The surgeon who spent 7 hours on my spinal surgery thinks you're a whiney little baby. And you lie.
I hope that surgery worked out well for you. I agree with your point, if medical professionals can wear masks ALL DAY then wearing a thin, lightweight mask for 20-30 mins in the store should not be a bother. If they truly can't do that, then should stay home, for their own health and everyone else's. Take care.
Load More Replies...Yet surgeons can wear masks constantly through hours and hours of surgery without forgetting what they're doing. Amazing. They must be superhuman.
I regularly put these masks on end stage COPD patients in crisis who are literally barely breathing enough to keep them alive and it makes no difference.
Shhh don't tell her or let her grandkids know. They might find out granny's just a wacko and then will be really scared and confused!
Load More Replies...Wonder how doctors and nurses survive wearing masks all day long while treating stupid anti- maskers.
I'm sure they were upset and confused because they figured out Granny is a lying sack of s***.
Thousands of medical staff wearing a mask on a daily basis, and still doing their job (which requires a lot of brain!) would disagree!
I have had asthma since I was two. I was a nurse and worked in theatres for 12 hour shifts. Did mask wearing affect my O2 levels .........NO
On a serious note, do any of you have any tips on how not to hyperventilate with a mask on? I already suffer from anxiety and panic attacks since before. I do wear a mask like you have to, but as soon as I put it on I feel like I can't breathe. This is really annoying and causes me to also not be able to wear my glasses at the same time. I have tried different masks but they all seem to make my anxiety worse since I already hyperventilate and it gets worse when my face is covered.
you could also try getting one that fits with those plastic pieces that keep it out away from your mouth. That would give you a little more breathing room.
Load More Replies..."Tell me you have dementia without telling me you have dementia..."
Funny thing--my father has severe COPD, to the point he can hardly breathe normally, but he manages to wear a mask.
This bs makes me so mad. My mother had one lung and COPD. She could wear a mask just fine without it effecting her oxygen or Co2 levels . Her levels were constantly monitored . She had to wear a mask because she had autoimmune disease .I had to watch her relearn how to talk and use her hands many times after her Co2 levels got out of control. I watched her slowly disappear as her brain was repeatedly damaged. Don't make up crap to support your opinion. It just makes you a garbage person. I don't care if you wear a mask or not. Just stop being part of the social media idiocy
I call BS on this one. I’ve been in & out of hospital with lowered oxygen levels, but I certainly didn’t lose my memory or forget people’s names! You’d have to be suffering dementia/Alzheimer’s or else having a stroke for such memory trouble! 🤷♀️
Nearly every experiment I have seen done, persons oxygen intake goes up while wearing a medical mask.
Watched an Olympic Volleyball player play the entire match with a mask on. If he can remember what he's supposed to be doing, and being very active, with a mask on, I think somehow she should manage it.
Maybe it was the fact you were wearing pajamas and riding a cart that made your grandkids pretend they didn't know you
This sounds like she got COVID- one of the symptoms is brain fog and can be very severe…
Pretty sure this person either has early onset dementia or has had a mini stroke.
Well you'll be really terrified when you find out what covid can do to your oxygen
A. You only have one grandchild. B. He's your only heir. C. Check the tubing on your portable oxygen tank.
