It makes me angry that they care so little about the health risk they pose to the rest of us.I have diabetes & high blood pressure and don't need to be put at risk like that. On the rare occasions when I do go out I always wear one in cabs or in the store.

It has been explained to us time and time again that the masks are to protect others from ourselves. The masks don't do that much to protect the wearer. Part of the problem is that we think just because we don't have any symptoms we can't possibly be part of the problem. You can have very mild symptoms or no symptoms and be unaware that you actually have the virus and have the ability to infect others. So the masks are primarily used to stop us from spreading it, not from getting it. The precautions we are advised to take to protect ourselves from getting it are to wash our hands frequently and not to touch our faces, to keep our distance from others, not to gather closely with other people. But yes, what she is doing is freakishly stupid. I wonder what she thinks the mask is doing in either case. I guess you could say it's keeping her from touching her face.
