I also had a Burmese that loved to curl up on my tummy when I was in the bath! I guess it was nice and warm! My current cat likes me to place a stool by the bath with a folded towel on top for her to sleep on next to me. Spoiled cats!

Not all cats hate the water. I had a cat who loved it. She would always get in the tub with me and sit under the tap. She loved the feel of the water running down her back.

I was minding my own business, with a book and a cup of tea, soaking in the hot water, when in walks my little calico (7 pounds soaking wet. I know this for sure.) She proceeded to sniff the water, then cul up on my exposed chest and start to purr. Oka-a-ay... I went back to my book. Eventually her purr grew louder and louder. I discovered that her weight, slight as it was, had caused me to sink slowly into the water, further and further, and she was submerged from the neck down--and loving it. (Had to get a second towel to dry *her* off, though!)
Wonder if he was one of the people that thought loners too!?! If so he clearly knows different now. Of course my cat follows be to the bathroom. I am wise to that though since I am a Mom. Ahh takes me back. My cats used to join me for every trip to the bathroom. When Tiggie (unexpectedly) had kittens, and they were old enough to explore on their own, she introduced them to joining me, so I had 8 cats in the bathroom with me.
I can understand looking at your phone on the toilet and bath tub to some extent, but would you take it in the shower.

I've always had bathroom cats. One would run his paw thru the tub faucet running water. Another hung out in the curtain while I showered. This one can go from a deep sleep to scratching at the door if I close it & she's on the other side.

Since cats came into my life I have not once had the problem of feeling alone in the bathroom. when the dog also arrived, the fight was unleashed to whoever comes first to get between my legs while I'm on the bathroom, to be cuddled. even the shower is an event always with sold out tickets, as there are at least two cats and a dog trying to see what I'm doing beyond the curtain. the only one who does not participate is the oldest who, I believe, I know considers too superior to join in human affairs.
Lucky people! When I take a shower, my cat(s) stand by the door and SCREAM, making me get out of the shower and open the door so they can leave.

My current cats do drive-by's if I'm sitting. One comes in at the end of a shower and yells for pets. In the past, my Ernie would sit between curtain and liner and yell. I thought he was concerned for my safety, but my gf said he was reminding me to " Use More Soap! "

These are so amazing! We had cats for 19 years! Only 1 was interested in water. He was a tub sitter, shower leg licker, and faucet drinker! We now have a dog, as both cats passed away, and he is disgusted when I'd take a bath! He sits in the bedroom and waits for you, he will lick my husbands' legs. But his interesting thing is, he feels the complete need to guard me when I am in the bathroom. He will come in and literally stand guard facing the door, until I am ready to leave! If the door is shut, he will sit in front of the door, and wait, and does that for the hubs, too! But I know, if you have a pet, there will never be time alone, if you have a pet! Never, unless you leave without them!
Both of my/our cats will follow any of the 3 hoomans in this house into the bathroom when we go for a bath or shower. They seem to like the hot steamy air. They also follow just me when I go in to use the toilet, not sure why that is, other than possibly a captive audience for many pets or fill/clean the water bowl
