Cat Splits Open A Litter Bag To Poop After He Finds Door To His Litter Box Shut, People React With Hilarious Comments

Cats are fastidiously clean animals, and that applies to their toilet habits too. They will always prefer to go in a litter box if provided, or some loose sand or earth outside, rather than directly on the floor. This cat, belonging to London-based Reddit user 8080x, found itself in a dilemma recently when it found itself locked out of the bathroom where the litterbox is situated. What to do? Hold it in? S**t on the floor?

No. Tino (short for Valentino) is both fastidious AND clever. Having noticed where the clean litter comes from, he located the bag. Desperate in a way that anyone who really needs to go will understand, Tino then knocked the bag on its side and managed to access that sweet, sweet litter. A quick scatter onto the floor and then… Ahh. Sweet relief.

Tino was clearly busting for it! The funny post inspired some hilarious comments and even a poem. SchnoodleDoodleDo proves that inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere, even the desperation of a kitty needing to go potty.

Usually, waking up to an opened bag of litter scattered all over the place accompanied by a few prize turds would provoke outrage and a desire for punishment. But not this time. This cat showed genuine intelligence and a desire to do things right, and deserves extra pets for effort! Or does it? Speaking to Bored Panda, 8080x gave us the truth about her clever kitty. “I honestly have no clue how or why he decided to put all this effort into doing this,” she explained. “I was quite surprised when I woke up to see the situation on the floor because he’s usually naughty and care-free. He has pooed in shoes before in other times that I accidentally forgot the toilet door closed. So I’m not sure why this time he decided to act responsibly!”

“I’m guessing it’s just because this time he smelled the litter bag, which he knows is the same smell as where he is used to pooping. Did he do this because of ‘cleanliness?’ No, not really. He sometimes doesn’t even cover up his poop, so I’m confused as to why he decided to do it this time! He also sometimes poops on the side of the litter box. If I’m being honest, he really doesn’t give a crap about these kind of things – he just does whatever he wants and whatever he feels like. He’s the kind of cat to deliberately knock over your things off the desk with his paw. For absolutely NO reason. He’s super cheeky, hence why I was surprised when I woke up to see that he put all this effort into acting responsibly…”

8080x says the reaction to her post has been completely unexpected, I guess people have a lot to say about cats on the internet. Even their poops! She just loved the poem though. “I just thought a few people would find it funny and that’s it…had no clue it would get 18k upvotes and over 500 comments,” she told us. “I just decided to post about it because I was bored one evening. Little did I know 18k people would like a picture of poop.”

“I was literally laughing out loud to myself at night when I read the poem!”

When she was little, my kitty was not satisfied with how the litter covers her "work" so she used to drag plastic bags from kitchen to cover it. She also used socks, rags, and everything she could pull. Now she has a "special" rug she poops on when she's mad at me. I should really remove that thing and toss it into trash but I kinda prefer to have one "poop" rug then for her to change it onto some bigger rug or bed.

I had something similar to this. When I was young and moved in with my roommate and boyfriend. I told my roommate if my cat knocks on the door while you are in there to open the door he needs to use the bathroom. One morning I was in the living room eating breakfast and watching tv. I heard Stitches (cat) knock on the bathroom door I look down the hall he is waiting patiently for the door to open. The door never opens I then watch him walk down the hall to my roommates desk and then proceed to poop under his desk. I couldn't do anything but laugh and then I waited for my roommate to get out of the bathroom and showed him. I said I told you that if he knocks on the door he needs to use the bathroom. I cleaned up the poop and from then on if my cat needed to use the bathroom the door was opened for him.

"Dear Kitten, you might find yourself in a position of high discomfort for example when the humans forget to clean and prepare your bathroom- for the unmentionables. Since it was the humans choice to bring you into their home in the first place, one might assume that they have the brains to make it as comfortable and easy for you as possible. But Kitten, you are here now and have seen that the human intellect is usually much less social and caring- oriented and more forgetful and egoistic. In a situation like this, Kitten, when your bowels play thunder and lightning - use your nature given tools and rip open this sandbag and simply do your business into the gravelmix. The human is trained to clean it up later, maybe after stepping into it. But you, Kitten, you will be relieved right away. Stay independent and be aware of every step humans take. You are doin just fine."

Someone tell me one more time that cats are filthy animals. Saw more than enough humans peeing outdoors public (difference between animals and humans is that humans have designated places for that called restrooms and animals do not, if anyone wanted to object that statement) + too many drunk people pooping on the stairways etc. Take example from animals.

Mine once ripped off one of his small pillows and covered it at his best with wool. Not completely so he questioned my mother with a series of disappointing meows because he could not cover it properly.

The white piece of paper from the bag, close to the turds ... is that ... what the cat used for toilet paper?

I had a cat years ago that would pee/poop in the shower cubicle if the toilet door (where her litter box was) was closed accidentally. My current sweet kitty once peed in an open box of jigsaw pieces when she couldn't get to her litter box! Luckily it was a boring puzzle so I wasn't too disappointed to throw it out.

Very impressed by the cat but not really surprised. Had a dog when I was a kid, nearly managed to claw her way through a wooden door in same situation. Much praise to the dog followed.

One infamous night my cat didn't have access to her litter box either. Lord knows how long she spent ripping our master bathroom's rug to shreds so she'd have somewhere to poop. I heard the unfamiliar sound of shredding in the night, but was much too tired to check on it. Come morning I go to use the bathroom, and step directly into the poop piled high with pieces of rug. She covered it so well I honestly noticed the stink of cat poop before noticing the length of ingenuity my went to. My only regret was not taking a picture for you interneters.

Our cat urgently meows at us, when the bathroom door is closed. She scratches a small rug into a pile, and uses that, if we don't understand her in time. If someone is going to be a long time, like enjoying a long bubble bath, we'll put the litter box in the hallway.

This reminds me of our cat. We went outside to go to the store and locked the door, and he must have had to pee. When we came back, he'd peed next to the toilet on a phone book.

We made the mistake of forgetting to put a new bag of litter in th storage closet. The next morning we found the same thing, despite the fact that the boxes were still available for use.

I had a cat that opened doors by the handle and switched on lights by pressing the switch. On a similar case she pooped in a plant pot. But my current cat is so stupid that doesn't even know how to eat bacon...

My cats poop bin was too full during vacation so my cats went to the opened litter box and pooped in it to spite me. Came home to so much poop in the litter that I had to throw it out. (I had a person feeding them)

Cats are great. Aniway, domestic cats don't cover their poops because they are not frightened of possible predator. Exposing poop means that they are in command.
