19 New Comics By Vernessa Himmler That Cat Owners Might Find Very Relatable
Interview With Artist"Cats have the appeal of resembling stuffed animals but ask any cat owner what it's like to own one of these adorable creatures, and they will tell you the reality is not always so cuddly." That's how Vernessa Himmler, an illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany, describes life with beloved little devils and we couldn't say it better.
Living with two cats, Mikosch and Koschka, Vernessa decided to create fun comics showing the crazy side of being a "silly cat owner". The artist has been drawing since childhood and received a master's degree in illustration from HAW Hamburg. Over the years she has developed her own modern style and has created plenty of bright illustrations.
In the fun cat comics, the artist portrays her daily life as a "crazy cat lady" and the weird and funny moments with her two fluffy pets. We believe that a lot of the situations depicted in the drawings might be very familiar to all the cat owners out there. Are we right?

My mother always said "The next cat we get is going to be NAVY BLUE!"
Bored Panda reached out to Vernessa to learn more about her creative process. The artist shared with us that it takes around one hour for her to fully finish a comic. She admitted that it can be quite challenging to come up with an idea for an illustration. "The gag must fit into the four panels and shouldn’t be too complicated but relatable for the followers."
Friend has a big house full of cats. At any given point in the day (or night), one will be crapping, one will be puking and one will be hacking up a hairball. If you are lucky it won't be anywhere where you are going to put your feet. LOL.
Does she not have adequate litter boxes, diet or hairball control treatments for them? That sounds like a neglect situation. I have 3 cats. We never have accidents on the floors, they virtually never puke, and hairballs are few and far between because we make sure they have easy access to clean litterboxes, they have diets appropriate to their health and age, and they get prophylactic hairball gel to make them easier to pass without herking them up on the carpet.
Load More Replies...I have a theory that they head for carpet because it feels good on their feet and they're looking for any comfort they can find at that moment of extreme nausea.
...and they like to claw into it while inching backwards with each heave...
Load More Replies...That unique sound (cat owners know which sound I’m talking about) will instantly wake you up from a sleep so deep it’s next door to dead. You will spring up out of bed totally bug-eyed like you’ve had too much caffeine, and in a panic. You will frantically try to locate the cat, and hope beyond hope you get there in time to get them off the rug and on the bare floor, because it’s soooo much easier to clean it up after they’re finally done. Also to get there before the dog decides to eat it (yeah, not the mental picture you want, but reality).
Every time I hear that horking sound, I run like this. My cat could vomit on easily washable lino, but always goes over to the living room to do it on the carpet. Cats are nature's ultimate trolls.
I've woken up from a dream because I've heard that sound. It's an automatic alarm clock. cat-alarm-...9c05d8.jpg
Load More Replies...my asshole cat ALWAYS goes under the bed to puke. every damn time, and its such a pain in the ass to move the bed to clean it up e_e
We found a solution for this! Just put something under the bed like an old sheet or newspapers or those absorbant placemat kind of things. If your cat pukes he will puke on top of it and you can easily pull it out from under the bed and wash it/throw it away.
Load More Replies...Omg!!! My old lady got it now she moves to a hard surface. I'm so lucky!
I know this too well, slipped in it while carrying the cat and cracked my elbow. Cat was fine.
I am not joking when I say that one particular cat of the several we have will ALWAYS puke when the housekeeper finishes mopping, or shortly thereafter. Always on the floor, never a rug.
my cats love to puke on my carpet within 24hrs of my vacuuming it. Furry teenagers.
The right place at the right time RIP CARPET, and the fact that I would run with my cat like the character even though I know it's too late

Vernessa shared that she loves to create things with her imagination and to make people smile with little comics about real-life problems.
my grandma: close your mouth or a fly will fly in and get stuck in there
According to the artist, all situations in these short comics are based on true events. "Sometimes I exaggerate the situations, so it gets funnier."
However, Vernessa's art collection not only consists of black and white cat comics but colorful and vivid illustrations of people and animals as well. If you're interested in seeing more of her artworks, you can check out Vernessa's Instagram page as well as her website.

Don’t understand someone please explain (edit) thank you for explaining
Love the illustration style! Essence captured with very few lines, Haiku style illustration!
Had been hoping for this next dose of Mischko and Koschka. The illustrations are unique, especially the mouths!
You can follow her on Instagram, there are so much beautiful drawings, including the cartoons and the 100 cat breeds
Load More Replies...Thanks for reminding me why I never got around to getting one 🙃 😅
Very cute comics...gotta ask though...am I the only one surprised to see the last name? Like, how did every family with that last name not change it 75 years ago? Obviously completely tangential to the post, but seeing that surname in print is legit jarring.
