On the 23rd of June 2016, the United Kingdom held a referendum, asking its citizens, "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?" 51.9% were in favor of separating from the EU, and thus Brexit (the exit of Britain) began. But as the date of the official political farewell nears (29 March 2019), some activists are talking about halting the process. Mainly due to the frozen negotiations between the EU and the United Kingdom regarding trade, travel, security, and other areas and not without the help of the probably most-hated Prime Minister in the recent history of the UK, Theresa May.
And though the whole Brexit ordeal has sparked many political jokes, the latest Independent's Final Say petition has already surpassed 960,000 signatures, winning support from politicians and celebrities alike, who wish to withdraw from the whole separation process. Recently, nearly 700,000 of these supporters marched through London, flashing their creative and original protest signs to persuade the undecided. I read an interesting story that compared Russian meddling with our 2016 election to Russian meddling with the Brits exit from the EU and not surprisingly the conclusion was that in both campaigns the nationalist fervor was kicked into high gear by Russian operatives. That sounds ominous. Sadly the pro Brexit politicians who were the loudest with their lies before the referendum, don't deal with the negotiations and the consequences. As I remember May was against Brexit but wasn't loud about it but after the referendum accepted its result.

The referendum wasn't legally binding. They didn't have to go ahead at all. There was no knowledge as to what leaving the EU would look like or what would happen as it had not happened before. So many unknowns. It was stupid asking people to vote on something that that had no clear plan. The Government didn't understand it themselves at that stage (and barely do now!). We just got a lot of lies and sadly too many people believed them.

If Britain does leave EU, I fear my country (France) will leave tooo . Remain European
So glad those undemocratic remain stragglers didn't get their way by scraping the very bottom of the barrel of reason, either trying to suggest the nonsense idea that children should be voting or that their own minority opinion should override the will of the majority. It may not have been your personal preference, it may even turn out to not to be a great move economically, but some things are more important than money, like autonomy and democracy. Pro EU forces have been consistently disregarding or circumventing democracy to make the EU a constitutional union and it's nice to see a change in that pattern. Fair play to ye for sticking to your guns Britain. (I'm pretty sure you folks will be fine economically too btw). ;)
See, what everyone seems to overlook is that Brexit is far more complicated than ‘we hate immigrants’- while that was unfortunately, a driving factor, people continue to overlook other issues such as the power imbalances, the fact that the EU is extremely bureaucratic and needs a kick up the a*s, and the fact that it is now quite outdated. The EU and modern Britain are disconnected- most people don’t even know who their EU representatives are, let alone what they’re voting for.
The impact of EU law varies from sector to sector but in many areas - public order, crime, defence, health - EU laws have minimal impact. In others - workers' rights, trade - the impact is much greater because the single market and the free movement of workers are at the heart of what the EU is about. People think we're having EU laws thrust upon us constantly and it's simply not the case. Oh, and of course the EU is bureaucratic - that is it's function. If people don't know who their MEP is that speaks volumes about them and not the EU.

Mentioning the many many millions of people living in the industrial and poor Northern England voting leave to the election of Hitler? Nice...Maybe if the metropolitan, hip and wealthy Londoners had bothered to care about the rest of the country Brexit would have been avoided. I don't think a march by the prawn sandwhich Horatio hemp wearing art dealer from Shoreditch will bother the unemployed labourer in Middlesbrough.

The referendum wasn't binding. They didn't have to go ahead. There was no knowledge as to what leaving the EU would look like or what would happen. So many unknowns. Shouldn't have had a referendum without looking very, very closely at what leaving would mean FIRST and properly - not the David Davis 'oh, I did look at it... well, no I didn't really' that happened AFTER. You cannot knowledgeably vote for something when you don't have the knowledge. It's an absolute farce.

Oh, no, wait. I forgot. That particular referendum turned out the way London wanted, so the results *MUST* be binding. My bad... as for the demonstrators, while the signs are clever, I seriously doubt any of those people voted to leave in the first place.
The EU is the main reason why there are so many immigrants from Eastern European countries. The open European market turned into closing of the local factories, because, according to EU, they were producing too much and had to be turned into consumer societies. EU is not democratic. It's not see through. Decisions are made without the choice of the people. Do you really want to give up your freedom? They are trying to suck in Norway as well, but they fight for themselves. I hope EU won't destroy Norway as well.
Factories would have closed anyway - they were inefficient and out of date.
