the reason I turned mine side ways and zip tied it then added small hooks on door frame and ziptie hinges on 1 side and a hook and a sturdy yarn tied on opening side just enough tight that closes on the hook my cats can not climb and get out- too high
My cats taught my two border collie puppies how to do this when they were 10 or 12 weeks old!
She helps then checks to see if her kitten is okay. Such a loving Mother.
my cat did this! My cat Athena, taught our kitten Loki, to jump up on the kitchen counters. In the middle of the night you could find Loki in some of the oddest places if you knew where to look.
Stop putting human emotions on animals! This wasn't done, just to break rules! Grow a brain! Cause your cat and kitten are smarter than you!

My Dogs Are Not Allowed In The Kitchen When I Cook. The Kitchen Starts At The White Tiles
My border collie mix used to do the same thing with the bedroom doorway. The ex was allergic so the bedroom was a no animal zone. The dog kept the cat out, then would put one paw over the threshold. When I'd ask "what are you doing" he'd pull his paw back, then roll over on his back like "nothing mama!"
