Hilarious animals have long been neglected by the liberal media, but this year, Paul Joynson-Hicks changed history. Enter the 2015 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, a competition founded by Joynson-Hicks to celebrate the silliest photos in the field. And the prize? A 7-day safari through southern Tanzania in East Africa, and a Nikon D750 DSLR with a 24-85mm lens!

“The number and quality of the entries was fantastic,” judge and British comedian Hugh Dennis told Peta Pixel. “The finalists should be very proud of themselves, as should the animals they photographed, simply for looking so funny. Sadly there is no way of telling them.”

Something odd about this photo. What is the line running from left to right? Is the hamster jumping over water?

The line represents the extremely narrow depth of field that the photographer chose for this image. That is, the picture is taken with a large aperture setting (low f-stop), and as a consequence the part of the image that is in focus is very shallow..

Could you please post identifying information about the animal, location, and circumstances?

Truly wonderful. A frozen capsule in time which none of us would ever see before. Thank you. :))))

Rather corn than nuts, and not even very funny. Common hamsters are the species showingbthe most rapid decline among all European mammals. We know it is related to agricultural intensification, but details remain unclear. Probably this guy is hiding from one of its numerous enemies, hamsters need a very high reproductive rate in order to compensate high lisses from predators such as kites and foxes. Good luck!
