The sexual revolution, disco music, feminism, free-flowing hallucinogenic drugs, and pacifism is the mish-mash of things that once created the absolutely unique 70s style that we so lovingly hate to remember. While there was some pretty awesome stuff going on in the fashion trends department, 70s men's fashion seems to have skipped all the cool stuff and went straight for the disastrous. Men's clothing made from shiny spandex? Groovy! Hip-hugging bell bottom pants, also glossy? You betcha! Chest hair, porn-stache, bright leisure suits, and skimpy short shorts defining the men's fashion? Far out! There's no way these 70s fashion relicts will ever come back in all their seriousness, so we can happily reminisce them in the safety of our jeggings and Yeezys, without fearing to witness a man-bulge wandering in the streets.
If you are still not convinced of the crimes that fashions of the 70s have committed, check out these men's fashion disasters from the decade to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, the list contains an appalling array of atrocities that the designers themselves cannot defend. So scroll down below to check the gloriously disturbing fashions below, but be warned, as it might get quite NSFW.

No one past the age of infancy should be wearing a freaking onesy. wtf!
The short guy looks like he's so disgusted by his clothes that he doesn't want to touch himself.
They look like a couple of naughty kids about to lob rocks through someone's window.
Load More Replies..."I know we look like idiots but you don't have to throw rocks at us!"
Rocks are to kill themselves with.....blood would make the pants better...."I would rather bludgeon myself to death then wear these pants".....

More like +15 EXACT reasons why 1970s mens fashion should come back
The problem is, none of these outfits would fit 90% of men today. Our waistline has grow out...
Nothing that can't be corrected, don't you think?
My ex husband (60) is still the same size & weight he was when he was 15 (31”waist) he Still has a couple of those hideous polyester body shirts.
could i have them plssssss
exactly...women have stolen a lot of these looks so the ones that say these fashion trends for men shouldnt come back are the ones that don the same fashion for themselves
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Sweet mother of ... fashion ...
So, as a child of the 60's I remember and worked in men's fashion during the 70's. Very few of these were actually worn by most men. These were those fashions that they tried to convince us was the latest trend but not really! Give it another 30-40 yrs and our grandchildren with be looking at the crazy things designers do now for fashion shows and they'll think that's what we all wore.
I would have to agree.... they NEVER deserved to exist in the first place!

And you think you know a lot about fashion? How about overweight fat women trying to squeeze into skinny jeans?!
Awesome collection. It is amazing to see that each generation strives for clothes to distinguish them...and it is amazing to see how some of the details creep into use again noawadays.
WRONG!! 70s fashion for men is long overdue for a true comeback. I wear the 70s style every f&*^in day of my life regardless of what you so-called "fashion experts" who are nothing more than overpaid sexually repressed idiots think! Me-58a4af59c8b30.jpg
Hey, at least they(men) were really trying new bold things! Prob the most daring they've ever been with fashion! Lol. Saw quite a few things women have worn thru the tests
Years, not tests
Y'all made this shit up. I was there. We had great fun and the best music ever. Never saw this trash, anywhere. Well, maybe almost never... there was always Sonny & Cher. And Elton John.... but those were costumes! Except for Cher.... sonny-and-...02fd1e.jpg
Yeah Cher had some “Groovy shit” she wore back in the day...
Men's fashion definitely needs to 'come back'. Men's formalwear especially needs to evolve past the dull monotony its been for decades.
This is America and as long as I have my freedom, I will continue to wear bellbottoms and platform shoes!!
Welp.... I'm going to go wash my eyes out. Cant unsee

Speaking simple, now Women are using 1970s' Mens fashion or older ^_^ !
Yeah that's what annoys me. So it's cute on women and modern to wear 70s but a man wears it and it is "outdated". F--them!
The decade that taste completely bypassed. But true, at least it had a style all it's own, unlike the shapeless baggy jeans, hoodies and baseball caps that seem to have been around for about 30 years now
Modern fashion sucks! The 70s rule dig it?!
Only the 1970s cars, especially the Mopars, got all the love!! 💜💜💜
It's like Pinterest before Pinterest - except that it was an entire decade devoted to repurposing your dead grandma's clothes. Your dead, insane, colourblind, synthetics-lovin' gramma.
Can't see why not, actually
I remember the 70s as the decade taste forgot but this collection is truly outstandingly bad. But I don't remember that many check pants being around in Australia and it's something you'd never forget! Nor the fabulous man-baby onesies. Body shirts were the thing here.
I was in college in the 70's, and never once did I see anyone wearing a crocheted, belted sweater. Never.
Yes, it IS horrible, but at least they weren't afraid to show their chest hair.
Some of the shirts I'd wear, but all of the pants were hideous.
I have this post bookmarked in my browser. Every time I go through my bookmarks to delete stuff I don't want any more, I get to the link for this post, and think 'No, can't get rid of this one yet'. It's hilarious and cringe-worthy - so bad that it's good!
They are all great, no idea what you are talking about. Men's fashion from an era you never lived in. For me brings back great memories. Very stylish.
The 70s, the decade that taste forgot. Thank Fek none of the men I dated ever looked like that, polyester body shirts & flares were bad enough. I was able to get them to ditch the body shirts for cotton by saying I was allergic to synthetics, they were all clueless enough to miss the fact that most of my dresses were Jersey.
Wow, hard to pick a favourite...😂😂
They did the same thing to the social fabric of our nation
@ bored panda You are saying ... ? http://www.sadanduseless.com/2017/02/fashion/
Tbh the 'feminine' look is pretty great on guys... just hate the onesie stuff lol
living in the seventies was really hard!

I think the 70s were the gay times!
Gay isn't just a fashion, it's a reality and if there was a time when it was embraced by men to be flamboyant and unapologetic about being androgynous then it simply means those times marked a freedom of expression for everyone. I don't see this freedom today anymore. And I think this is a problem.
NO. NO. NO!
Incredible!!!
Love it! You can see the looks that started here and how they evolved into today's fashion. Also I would wear a lot of this stuff. It looks great.
