7 Of The Most Beautiful Fox Species In The World

We know how much you guys love cute foxes, so we thought we’d introduce you to some of the most beautiful and striking fox species out there so you’d know which types of foxes are your favorite!

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is what usually comes to mind when you hear the word “fox,” which makes sense since it can be found all around the Northern hemisphere. However, this diverse and adaptive genus has species across the globe, all of which are specially adapted to thrive in their environments. Take for example the Fennec fox, that’s accustomed to living in the Sahara desert – that’s nothing like the cool forests that we are used to seeing a fox in! And, with some help from selective breeding, many new fox breeds look nothing short of majestical.

If you love foxes and think they look better in the wild than they do around someone’s neck, then you’ll definitely love seeing all of these fox pictures, depicting them in their natural environment.

P.S.: There are even some pictures of baby foxes in this list – nothing beats that in cuteness!

Fennec Fox

Fennec foxes, native to North Africa and the Sahara desert, are distinguished by their large ears, which serve to dissipate their body heat. These ears give them such good hearing that they can even hear their prey moving under the sand. Their cream-colored fur helps them deflect heat during the day and stay warm at night. The red fox is the largest, most wide-spread and, as a result, the most diverse species of all the foxes. They can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere and in Australia as well. They are very agile hunters and have been known to jump over 2m tall fences. (Image credits: Roeselien Raimond)

Marble Fox

The “arctic marble fox,” also a member of the red fox species, is not a naturally occurring coloration – it was bred for its fur by humans. (Image credits: Ewald Mario)

Gray Fox

The gray fox, which lives throughout North America, is distinguished by its “salt-and-pepper” upper coat and black-tipped tail. This fox is one of the only canids capable of climbing trees. (Image credits: John Pane)

Silver Fox

The silver fox is actually the same species as the red fox – they simply have different pigmentation variations. The silver fox was, at on time, one of the most valuable fur foxes that could be found. They are still bred and farmed for their fur. (Image credits: Matt Knoth)

Arctic Fox

The arctic fox can be found throughout the Arctic Circle. Their thick fur keeps them from shivering in temperatures as low as -70 degrees Celsius (-94 Fahrenheit). These foxes have relatively short legs and snouts, which helps keep their surface area down and retain heat. (Image credits: Cecilie Sonsteby)

Cross Fox

The cross fox is yet another color variant of the red fox. It is most common in North America. (Image credits: Ben Andrew)

100% agree. What's even worse than hunters are trappers and those who torture and kill these beautiful animals on fur "farms".

The folks protesting against fur coats & whatnot are quite funny. in the long run its much better for our environment, rather than those faux furs that can save your poor mentality and perhaps a few foxes right now, but later on when they pile up in landfills and the bits of plastics they're made with choke our fish and pollute our seas, it shows a much bigger problem. Furs are good for us and the environment, its what our ancestors and even certain cultures use, the difference is that they treated the animal with dignity and honored it life, and we take and take and take without a second thought.

Both fox hunters and wolf hunters should die to be honest. Both are wondering creatures and don't deserve violent torture

Technically, there are true (Vulpes) and false foxes (bat-eared, crab-eating etc.) and the Marble, Silver and Cross foxes are not species, but colour variants. And humans - probably the most endangered species, we are a threat to ourselves and the world - should really stop hunting, abusing, trapping etc. and keeping exotic pets that belong in their natural environments!

I think all people who wear fur or spend money on fur should be drowned in a sack, unless they stop. All the Kardashians, Mary oblige, p daddy, Beyonce Minaj and all of them, I f*****g HATE them, I hate their clothes. They are dirty vicious ugly killers. Also the people who"hunt" or torture foxes in GB and elsewhere. If they could all disappear from the earth and the fox populations could come back, I swear I would give all my money if I could make that happen

All the Kardashians, Mary oblige, p daddy, Beyonce Minaj and all of them, I f*****g HATE them, I hate their clothes. They are dirty vicious ugly killers. Also the people who"hunt" or torture foxes in GB and elsewhere. Foxes are a feral, introduced species in Australia that decimate the native wildlife - they need to be eliminated.

I love the fox. I cannot understand how people can routinely treat them with such cruelty, How sweet and complex they are.

Foxes are gorgeous... The only ugly ones are the dead ones ugly people wear on their coats.

I don't have the words for how horrible it is that the beautiful Marble Fox is just bred for it's fur.

Those folk who say the fox is rarely caught ought to've been on hunts near where I lived. Caughr and ripped apart every time.

Brilliant photo's of beautiful creatures! Maybe Foxhunting - an inhumane sport and 'fur farms' should be illegal worldwide!

I think that the fox looks like a mix of canine and feline, the best of both genectic ranges!

Disgusting that raising and killing foxes for fur is still allowed today!!! They should be allowed to live in the wild, naturally.

Disgusting that they are raised and killed for their fur in this day and age. Makes me sick to my stomach. Should be allowed to live free!

There are real people in Alaska that use it for going out in -40 degree weather that can't get the same protection from synthetic clothing

Beautiful creatures, but only when alive and in their own natural homes. Fur trapping & breeding is cruel. Wearing animal fur is disgusting.
