It is probably impossible to find a food that everyone loves, there will always be someone who hates it with all their heart. Even the most common things that a lot of recipes may contain. It is interesting how different people can eat the same thing, but have a different reaction to the taste or even perceive it differently.

Even though the Latin maxim says that there is no point in disputing tastes, people love to give their opinions on food. Reddit user jamboamericano wanted to know people’s opinions on foods that are hyped up but “quite simply suck.” They received 3k responses so take a look at the most popular ones that quite a lot of people agreed on.

Consistently mediocre, albeit overpriced. If I go there for a cup of tea, I know about what I'm going to get for four bucks. In most locations, most of the year, I can order white hot chocolate with peppermint and cinnamon, and get as much. It's a safe bet.

This is just silly. There are types of caviar that aren't expensive, particularly because you're not meant to shovel it in with a fork. I absolutely love caviar, and it has nothing to do with showing off or being rich (I'm not).

Like a lot of shellfish, it has to be fresh from the ocean. If you have it in a tank at the supermarket where they just sit there it's not worth it. Back on PEI, Canada; 70% of houses are having fresh lobster on Mother's Day right off the boat. Can't beat it.

I love it but their burgers are greasy by design. It's that street-style burger wrapped in foil and the juices soak into the bun (which, to me, is great). Shake Shack burgers are the same.

the fries are often very good. the burgers range from very good to a solid okay. they drift to the very good side mostly when i get so hungry and the wait is so long that a fried shoe would be amazing. i also like all the toppings you can add at no add'l charge. the worst part of 5 guys is the lack of value. it's just too much for our family's budget too often. which, i guess, is good for our pocketbook and waistline. if i could get a combo there for usd $5-8, i'd go way more often.

Cannot speak for what you are served in the UK, but Five Guys was started a couple of towns over from me and probably got much bigger than they expected. The appeal is freshly cooked meat, not sitting under a heat lamp for half an hour, topped as you like it. The grease is part of what people like, because that's where much of the flavor is in beef. Their old style fries are addictive.
