It is probably impossible to find a food that everyone loves, there will always be someone who hates it with all their heart. Even the most common things that a lot of recipes may contain. It is interesting how different people can eat the same thing, but have a different reaction to the taste or even perceive it differently.

Even though the Latin maxim says that there is no point in disputing tastes, people love to give their opinions on food. Reddit user jamboamericano wanted to know people’s opinions on foods that are hyped up but “quite simply suck.” They received 3k responses so take a look at the most popular ones that quite a lot of people agreed on.

Consistently mediocre, albeit overpriced. If I go there for a cup of tea, I know about what I'm going to get for four bucks. In most locations, most of the year, I can order white hot chocolate with peppermint and cinnamon, and get as much. It's a safe bet.

And making it hell for real coffee shops! Flat white is not large latte with extra foam, machiatto is an espresso with a small amount of usually frothed up milk, not a giant cup filled with coffee, syrup and enough milk to drown a cow!

I truly feel they burn their beans in the roasting process. You can taste it. A few years ago, we bought a small home roaster, signed up for monthly green bean delivery, and learned how to roast beans properly to create the various roasts. The coffee is thousands of times better than SBucks.

The beverages (I won't call them "coffee") are not bad. I like to indulge on them from time to time, the same way one indulges on an ice-cream. Not for a day to day basis in my opinion.

Ever since I have a bean grinder and coffee syrups I do not buy anything from them. Not even their beans. I stick to my good ol' Douwe Egberts. (Dutch coffee, far older than SB and knows how to roast their beans) With SB it still tastes like bean water even with an extra scoop of bean grind. Douwe egberts? No. Perfection.

I work at a Starbucks, and everything there is overpriced, prepackaged trash. For as much as the food (that's just prepacked, thawed, and flash heated) you could get a real burger and fries that actually tastes like something. The coffee taste burnt, the other drinks are nothing special and the same year round. And the wastefulness!! Coffee brewed and dumped every 15 minutes, all the food thrown away is criminal. ....lost my job due to covid so gotta pay the bills somehow 🤦😣

Starbucks went broke in Australia, there were 84 stores, 61 of them closed because Aussies don’t like American style coffee. You can get a large Cappuccino from 7/11 for $3. & from McCafe for $4.90.

The only way to get a consistent flavor profile with the quantity of beans they go through is to burn the beans a little, destroying the flavor. It amazes me that a coffee chain can be so successful with such an inferior product.

burnt beans, syrups are gross and they use too much of them, and they don't even use actual half and half like you have to ask for it and half the time they 'forget'. I make coffees at home with average joe ingredients and equipment, and *nice* syrup, and end up with a better drink!

The only time I was eager to go to Starbucks was when I was visiting my comatose boyfriend and needed a little pick me up to get through the hours I sat at his side. There was a Starbucks in the hospital and was the only place open so I didn't care; it was "coffee". Aside from that, can't stand them. It's weak, bland, and, probably won't make sense to many, it gives that back of tongue feel that makes you question it (maybe an overly acidic or bitter thing). Oh and he's fine now and I haven't been to Starbucks since (about 4 years)

When I lived in the US, when I for some reason went to Starbucks, I ordered either plain coffee with milk (probably had some fancy name), and it always tasted burned. But all the other stuff was way too sweet. Tea was ok. Note: I am not from a tea drinking country, so anything that is better than a teabag of your generic shitty western tea was good enough

Yeah!! Think about it! Starbucks counts on people going to Starbucks just to show how trendy, well off, 'cool', or otherwise one of the special people. ( I know, I know, this is not to label YOU, just pointing out that Starbucks wouldn't be so successful without these groups of people who patronize a place with outrageously priced products during a time when young people have little hope of enjoying the perks other generations have had.) Example, I know quite a few friends of my daughter that ONLY get their coffee at a Starbucks, and not just once in awhile. They look down their noses at me and others who see through the marketing. Yes, Starbucks is fine, but is it a smart use of your income?essentials

Starbucks opened a branch here in Trinidad a few years back and I swear there were lines waiting to get in. People still post pictures with their coffee cups. Of course they also never post pictures of the local brands/cups. You can get coffee for a third of the price elsewhere btw. It was soooo annoying.

I think I'd actually like it if there was less sugar and more hazelnut.

Avocados are one of my most favorite things in the world. Guacamole is so good. Avocado with a little apple cider vinegar & olive oil... pinch of salt ..... Aaahhh, I'm making myself hungry!

Shrimp is pretty cool if it's cooked well. Not overcooked and not drenched in seasoning. With most of these you just got to cook it lightly with minimal additions to keep the true taste.

Seafood. It stinks, it looks gross, and every time I've been convinced to try it it's been rank. My husband and I have agreed many times that we'd have to be starving to death before we ever considered seafood as a meal. I do not understand how anybody can enjoy it. It creates a visceral negative reaction in me.

I love seafood, but I'm careful where I source it. No dodgy diner seafood, please.

People Are Joining This Thread Ranting About Overhyped Foods They Don't Understand And Here Are 34 Of Them I don't think it sucks but I don't get why popcorn is so cherished.

I don't like the flavor, the texture, or the f*****g kernels that get stuck in my teeth. The smell is always terrible to me and it lingers.

But what I really hate is having to explain to people offering it to me that I actually don't like popcorn, no, I really don't, yes, even that type, yes it's a popular snack, no, I really don't like it.

I absolutely adore have popcorn sweet and salty being my favourite, I just hate the kernels, because they always get stuck in my teeth. I would love to find the special popcorn without kernels
