Julia Christe is a German photographer specializing in photographing pets. One of her most recent works is a funny series in which the dogs are "flying".
The project began when the photographer decided she would like to capture pictures of her favorite animals from a new perspective. "Not every dog was born to fly, but some have a great talent and they are practically shooting stars. A few dogs had fun so much that we were able to repeat the jumps. The expressions on their faces mainly reflect the surprise of the first flight and, in most cases, the first jump gave the best pictures."
To achieve this, Julia used a mattress on the floor, where the dogs jump - being photographed exactly when they are in the air. The photographer made a whole scheme of security so that her models would not end up hurting themselves.
The result turned out to be an interesting one, showing the startled and excited expressions of dogs of various breeds.

I beliiieve I can flyyy...........ahem, sorry. I'm glad to read that everything was secure so that the doggies don't hurt themselves
Yep - that one is stuck in my head. Can't we get back to Major Tom?
Load More Replies...Yes, she has a website showing the cat photoshoot. They are dropped. Hmmm.
Load More Replies...So, someone threw with dogs? Really curious how they can "fly" and if they chose to do so themselves
The explanation in the article that C copied does not explain how the photographer got the dogs to jump. Maybe someone who weighed more than the dogs jumped on a trampoline so the dogs flew up into the air.
Load More Replies...Went to the photographers website and there is a video of how she made Flying Cats. Someone drops them. Not from much of a height but the cats are great with this. I do feel less happy about the dogs being dropped as they don't have the natural ability that cats do for landing. I am sure great care was taken but... well, I am a tad uneasy now.
Agreed. The majority of the pooches are showing the whites of their eyes (or "whale eye") which they tend to do when distressed, nervous or afraid. :(
Load More Replies...I actually participated in that shoot with my pooch. My dog didn't like it very much (not so much the 'flying', it was really close to the round, but that a foreign person had to hold her for it) However, she got a ton of sausage for it. Very friendly atmosphere for humans and dogs alike. Our pic didn't make the cut, I think one paw never got caught on camera, but I got a fun copy out of it.
Where any of these dogs harmed by this? It looks dangerous and irresponsible.
I was there, I promise you it was really low over the ground and totally harmless. Most dogs didn't overly enjoy it and where a bit like 'huh? Wutcha doin'??' but got quickly distracted by juicy treats. no harm was done. If a dog really hated the situation it didn't have to do it.
