In the past 4 days, the entire route in the center of the old town of Hoi An was flooded. This flood is equivalent to the historic flood in 1999.

All activities of the people were affected due to the travel difficulty, business interruption. Most tourists had to cancel their day off and stayed away from the high water level area.

In terms of geography, Hoi An is in the region which is the last segment of Thu Bon River, with Cua Dai waterfront next to the South China Sea, so when it rains, heavy water and flooding is common in Hoi An.

Over the years, there have been dozens of floods and the flooding of the Bach Dang road has been frequent. Because of this, people of Hoi An are accustomed to this very well, so they are proactive in adapting to nature.

Hoi An City is located on the bank of Thu Bon River. This place was once known as Faifoo, which have been well-known with the merchants from Japan, China, Portugal, Italy, etc. since the 16th, 17th centuries. It was a major trading center of Southeast Asia, one of the major stops of the Far East merchant ships.

On December 4, 1999, UNESCO decided to recognize Hoi An ancient town as a World Heritage Site.

Thousands of visitors come here every day and the many of them are also curious about flood season here.
