Fitness-Obsessed Dad Brags About His 8-Month-Old Toddler’s Lean Physique, Gets Roasted
A social media user who is very much into fitness and health started up a fiery discussion online and ended up getting roasted. The drama started after he shared a photo of his family at the beach and explained what he and his partner feed their child.
One of the things that the fitness fanatic mentioned is that his son is “lean” because he doesn’t eat processed foods. And that’s when the bombshells started. Social media users rushed to roast the dad for his parenting and for mentioning leanness at all when it comes to a baby. After all, baby fat has its uses as a baby grows (more on that below).
Have a look at how some people reacted to the dad’s words. Note, at the time of writing, the dad had taken down their original post and has protected their social media posts. We’re also omitting some identifying information so that the family doesn’t get harassed further.
A bodybuilder fanatic got show down on the internet for talking about how “lean” his baby son is
Surprisingly, baby humans are born with a higher body fat percentage (15%) than harp seals (10%) and guinea pigs (11%). We’re also born ‘fatter’ than our primate cousins. According to the Sapiens anthropology magazine, infant fatness reaches its peak between 4 and 9 months at around 25 percent, after which it starts going down. To talk about leanness during this period of time is weird and raises some questions about health and parenting.
“A human baby’s brain is massive relative to its body size and is estimated to use around 50 to 60 percent of a baby’s energy budget. That means if there are any shortfalls in energy or if an infant’s nutrition is poor, there can be serious consequences. As such, babies have large energetic reserves in the form of fat deposits that they can use if nutrition is inadequate,” Sapiens writes.
“High fat at birth is particularly useful for humans, who go through a sort of fasting period after birth while waiting for their mother’s breast milk to come in; the first milk, or colostrum, is packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, and immune-boosting antibodies but is lower in sugar and fat content than regular breast milk.”
What’s more, babies need lots of energy for growth and fighting off any and all illnesses. Having fat stores to provide this energy is very useful as babies need more and more energy that can’t be provided by just breast milk. In modern times, we complement a baby’s mother’s milk with nutritionally dense food, however, we didn’t have those for the majority of human history.
“Between increasingly complex nutritional needs and the demand for energy necessary to fight off illness, human babies use their baby fat reserves as an essential energetic buffer for these transition periods, allowing them to feed their brains and continue their growth.”

The fitness-focused dad, who is a bodybuilder, shared that he and his loved one feed their son whole eggs, whole fruit, and whole vegetables. They also only give him water to drink, nothing else.
Some internet users joked that their cheese-loving kids could take on the bodybuilder’s son. Meanwhile, others turned their sarcasm dials all the way up to 11 and poked fun at the father for suggesting that feeding kids all-natural food products is something novel and stunning.
However, the biggest point of confusion for many of the commenters was why the dad would decide to call his son lean and what that has to do with a baby at all when he can’t even walk and talk yet, let alone work out.
And here’s what some other people have been saying
It’s a f*****g baby for f**k sakes. I would hate to see how the dads body ideals effect the child as he grows up.
"They also only give him water to drink, nothing else." Wait, the kid doesn't get any formula or breast milk? Pretty sure that isn't healthy.
Our 8 month old has been a Sumo wrestling champion in Kyoto for 7 months. We feed him ostrich eggs, lard and beer.
I had an acquaintance who refused to let her daughter have sugar. Of any kind. She hand made everything that her precious angel ate - even fruit was rationed because, you know, fructose. The kid was three and we were at a community BBQ and there were some biscuits/cookies on the table that all the other kids were helping themselves too (and sharing), but no, this little girl had everything snatched out of her hands by her mother. By the end of the day, the little girl had made a couple of friends who had taught her to be deceptive and she had managed to eat TWO PLAIN DIGESTIVES before being dragged home. Mother went on to have another child and they turned up the next year, where the now 4 year old enjoyed an ice cream AND TWO CHOCOLATE COOKIES. Turns out her mum didn't have the energy to police her daughter's eating habits as well as looking after a newborn. The little girl is not so little now (she turned 13 last year), enjoys sports and is completely healthy. Thanks to her sister.
Probably the best thing that happened to her was having a sibling to share her mother's attention. I'm glad the mom learned to let up
Load More Replies...Hopefully CPS sees this and steps in before the kid dies of malnutrition.
If you get your fishing license from the Department of Fish and Game, would you get your parenting license from the Department of Eugenics?
Load More Replies...Babies need fat, and a lot of it - for brain development. Whole fat milk, not even 2%... being lean is actually bad for development.
Yep, my sister in the mid 80's ended up 'retarding' her son's growth, he had food allergies and health issues related to other allergies to soaps and household items. He had learning issues and was held back a grade. She didn't listen to me or her doctor. Low-fat diets were a thing til the medical community realized that brain growth was affected. Also, babies need a pinch of fat for when they start walking and wear off that extra weight. Had a neighbor who had a 'chunky' baby at 14 months who was lean by 3 due to the energy of his many adventures and shenanigans!
Load More Replies...my 8 month old eats a steady diet of whiskas and dreamies. she can chase lasers and run up a tree in seconds. she's floofy because she's a perfect little floofball. and unusually handsome.
This is abuse, infants <3 years need 1/3 of their calories from FAT, they don't need sugar(unless it is milk sugars) but they need FAT for their BRAINS to grow. If we were to track this infant, surely his growth will be falling off the charts (downward) and not making significant gains in order to develop normally. Whoever knows this dude needs to get social services involved.
He describes him as "lean" and "unusually handsome". I mean dude, seriously? What the actual f*ck?? His kid isn't even a year old!
TLDR: Baby fat is normal. These nimrods must be reported for endangerment. The end. IMHO.
Just wait until that baby starts doing the chunk up right before growing phases. Dad is going to be trying to start intermittent fasting or some other trendy diet 🙄
gosh babies are supposed to be chubby don't give them "body standards" until they are grown out of their chubb also who says their baby is "unusually handsome" like gosh...
My 8 month old baby kills and eats whole cows by himself (bones and all) and his muscles are so dense he could be used as trebuchet ammo (but obviously we're not bad parents so we won't actually do that until he's 10 months old)
This reminded me of "Baby Hercules" too. He spend all his time in the gym and had no friends. When his father went to jail (I don't remember what for), he was raised alone by his mother, and shockingly lost all interest in bodybuilding. He's still in shape, but not body-building style, and dreams of becoming an astronaut. I've got hopes for him, but it sounds as though he's still got the dreams of a little kid.
I really really fear for this poor child as he gets older, having a fitness fanatic lifestyle forced upon him. He's a CHILD for f***s sake, these parents clearly have issues (especially the dad) and I feel like this poor kid is growing to grow up in a toxic envornment where as he gains his "puppy fat" (as all children do) he is literally going to be treated like garbage because he's not "fit and lean"... that's not caring about your child, that's literally just abuse, worse yet, that child is going to grow to have the same outlook on life and continue the cycle, or end up with mental problems. :(
everyone is ignoring the "unusually handsome" comment?????? that is so creepy wtf
I'm pretty sure all parents think their kids are cute/pretty/beautiful/handsome/etc.
Load More Replies...Hope the grandparents are smarter than their children, and intervene, or call CPS if they can’t do it themselves. Where’s the pediatrician in all this?
It is ridiculous for sure, but I have heard some crazy stuff from new parents, and probably said some when I was one.
I'm hoping that dad doesn't actually handle the bulk of baby care and his wife isn't as ignorant
Im sorry to say, but a baby with a bigger head than other babies of the same age could possibly be diagnosed with autism. My son and grandson both have larger than normal heads. Autism wasnt a popular label when my son was young, but he had several learning disabilities, including adhd. My grandson is on the spectrum. He's nonverbal with developmental delays. He's awesome, incredible, amazing, and the best, too. I wish I was wrong about the big head being linked to autism, and I truly hope his "lean" baby isn't challenged with anything beyond the body shaming his dad is already gearing up for. I do hope he has him tested as early as possible. There are tons of resources available to help any child in need become their best!
Oh boy. Starving our small child, are we? Babies are meant to be on the chubby side! He needs formula or breast milk and he needs to eat stuff that has the kind of nutrition a baby needs! And he'll grow up in an environment where he probably ends up with some sort of disorder because he's so focused on his body type! Shitty job of parenting, if you ask me.
I fed all 3 of my kids cherry kool-aid, slugs, ramen noodles and hotdogs up until they were 12.
Yes, this does seem rather excessive. However, when I see all the poster children for type 2 diabetes waddling to the school bus stop every morning, I can only be just so critical of their choices.
"Drinks water" does he think that no other baby on this planet drinks water? And he honestly doesn't understand that a baby needs to put on weight? Not lose it?
"Unusually handsome" - considering the kids' parentage, yeah, that's probably the most accurate statement out of this guy.
An eight-month-old is not a toddler. That being said, these idiots are as good an argument as I've ever seen for requiring a license to have children.
ok first things first dont blame the kid, instead, tell the dad that you child could beat HIS a**. Second, what a complete a**hat. I know other people have said that better, but I still wanted to say that
Eating disorder... I predict the dad is going to body shame his toddler a lot.
Doesnt sound too unhealthy to me, the food i mean. The attitude from dad is unhealthy AF
I head there's even leaner babies in much of Yemen at the moment.
Why would you even care if your not- even- a- year- old baby was fat? I was, and I slimmed out.
What a stupid article. His baby obviously isn't adult lean. Baby fat everywhere. Maybe he's just using rhetorical language to describe his baby as healthy and all you closet dwellers are piling on like a mob of floppy angry marshmallows men Western processed diets are gross and he should be proud of raising a healthy child using a natural diet
I have a good idea... what if we just leave people alone when we have no idea what their situation is like?
