Everybody should know basic First Aid, but few people actually do. Sure we’ve all seen people being resuscitated in movies, but would you actually know what to do in real life? Well, while this First Aid Blanket won’t compensate for proper First Aid training, it might still help you to save somebody’s life.
Designed by Zhejiang University, China, the blanket, which won the prestigious Red Dot Award for conceptual design in 2014, is specifically designed to assist in cases of drowning. From how to unblock airways and check for circulation to how to correctly administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), it’s full of useful information that even a person without knowledge of First Aid can follow. The instructions are clearly printed alongside simple diagrams to help you provide basic assistance to somebody in need until paramedics arrive on the scene.

Share on FacebookQuite an interesting concept. Would be great to see if it actually proves helpful or would rather confuse people. But definitely worth a try.
Would be great to see?? Uhm NO.... how about taking a CPR class... it could save a life and save you from a lawsuit.
Load More Replies...its great for those with no experience on First Aid, but it can also waste time when in need of life and death situations.
I agree. I work in a hospital, I would NOT want anyone who didn't know First Aid to be practicing on me for their first time. You can do more damage than good if you don't know what you're doing.
Load More Replies...Hey Negative Nelly's don't you all think that trying to do SOMETHING is better than doing nothing? A: No one would be "practicing" on me they are trying to save my life and B: Good Samaritan laws prevent a person from being sued for just this reason! I mean come on would you want someone to stand there and watch you or someone you love die because they might get sued?
Hi everyone, happy to see first aid getting attention! Just FYI, with Aid One we got awarded the BraunPrize back in 2012 for a similar concept - the Aid One cover. We've also addressed some usability issues that've been mentioned in the comments: 1) not placing the victim on the blanket and 2) a universal size. The Aid One cover is now a CE-marked medical device so if you are interested go have a look: www.aid-one.net/en ! // Tuomas, Co-founder
Getting a person in distress (heart failure), or even a limp or heavyweight person would be a struggle to get on that mat. CPR CLASSES.
so have them next to for crying out loud, the picture just demonstrates how it can be used not its only use. the important part is that it shows basic information to save someones life.

This is one thoughtful invention, but, to carry it around just in case disaster strikes,I guess it wouldn't be that practical. For me, the best way is still to learn CPR and be ready for any emergencies....This invention would be great to teach first timers, teens or kids about CPR....

A nice idea and it's good to have the first aid info handy, especially for people with less than perfect memories. I think one size *doesn't* fit all in this case, though, and the info could be more clear. (E.G. That 2:30 between "breathing" and "compression" might indicate the time for an entire cycle or the time you spend on breathing before doing compressions.)
Then you do not have this folding...and typical locations will have harsh weather impact.

Besides those who don't know first aid would have learn on the spot -read, follow symbols, make mistakes and waste time anyway
What's the point of this? Lifeguards already know how to do First Aid and it's their job to save people. Not a stranger with a blanket.
And I'm blown away that people still think that spamming c**p like this is working. Visit your local mental health institute for professional help.
