Virtually all of these are illegal in the UK and, I expect, the EU too. Only in the US can you be fired for no reason at all and it be perfectly legal.
(US) I have been fired illegally many times. Big companies would have better lawyers, winning is unlikely. People do win, but it is difficult. I learn to suck it up and go on. They all hurt, some still do. It is MUCH worse now.

One of my heavy line techs constantly asking me out, and me constantly saying no...got fired for fraternizing.
Worked at Target for two weeks. Had one closing shift (11pm) and had to open (8am) the next morning. Spoke to a manager about possibly changing my availability, because I already had to be awake at 5am and by law there's a minimum 12 hours between shifts. She said sure, and even showed me how to do it. Yay. Two days later I'm getting ready for work and she calls and says that I'm "unreliable" for requesting an availability change and they were firing me, and then dodged the question and tried to claim she didn't say I could put in the request when I asked why she said I could do so if they were going to fire me for it.
I was a cocktail waitress in a raunchy bar while in college, 1981. Jobs were hard to find; I needed the job. I showed up when scheduled. After 2 weeks I was on the bartender schedule. Absolutely zero experience. I was the first cocktail waitress to last more than a few days, they were uncertain how to proceed. I was just 19, too young to drink, legal to serve. Starting in the mid to late 90s I worked in IT. Most of the time I was the only woman working with a whole bunch of guys who... well they didn't have great social skills or a clear understanding of boundaries. On at least two occasions I was flat out told that they would lie if ever asked but that hiring me was an "experiment" but my presence was a disruption. Worked at a restaurant and one night the manager tells me his brother will be celebrating his birthday there, so one of the waitresses and I would have to stay after closing. The brother was drunk and started fondling the waitress while the manager just sat and did nothing. I was cleaning up when the waitress came crying to me, so I snuck her out the back and told her I would take over - they only need one waiter anyway. Manager got upset when he found out and fired me for "fraternising with the staff."
I was 17, and I'd been working at the local radio station as a DJ for a year and a half or so. One day, after school, I was incredibly tired as I didn't sleep the night before and had exams all day, then we had a high school baseball game we were broadcasting from remote. High school baseball play by play is *incredibly* boring. The announcers would go several minutes at a time without saying anything at all. There was a break for some reason and the announcers were just chatting about the teams and I fell asleep. At some point during their conversation one of them apparently realized they were still on the air and dropped the prompt to play commercials. But of course I didn't hear it. I woke up after about 5 minutes to him swearing profusely at me over the radio, which is only *slightly* frowned upon by the FCC. I got fired and he didn't even get reprimanded.,
I had completely forgotten my own experience until I started reading these other stories. In highschool, I got a job at an adult career training center (they help adults get GED and find jobs) I was one of two that assisted their IT manager. One day, they hired a third IT assistant, someone who had much more experience than me and the other guy. Soon, me and the other guy were fired. Years later, I was told that my boss, the IT manager, had told the other managers that we had been looking at porn on one of the computers. The computers were in an open lobby and all the screens faced the center of the room and there was also another worker in that room to help the users so there was absolutely no way anyone had any privacy; It was a stupid thing to accuse us of doing and he probably did it to fire two less experienced kids and replace us with another more experienced person.
Virtually all of these are illegal in the UK and, I expect, the EU too. Only in the US can you be fired for no reason at all and it be perfectly legal.
(US) I have been fired illegally many times. Big companies would have better lawyers, winning is unlikely. People do win, but it is difficult. I learn to suck it up and go on. They all hurt, some still do. It is MUCH worse now.

Spoke to a manager about possibly changing my availability, because I already had to be awake at 5am and by law there's a minimum 12 hours between shifts. She said sure, and even showed me how to do it. Yay. Two days later I'm getting ready for work and she calls and says that I'm "unreliable" for requesting an availability change and they were firing me, and then dodged the question and tried to claim she didn't say I could put in the request when I asked why she said I could do so if they were going to fire me for it.
I was a cocktail waitress in a raunchy bar while in college, 1981. Jobs were hard to find; I needed the job. I showed up when scheduled. After 2 weeks I was on the bartender schedule. Absolutely zero experience. I was the first cocktail waitress to last more than a few days, they were uncertain how to proceed. I was just 19, too young to drink, legal to serve. The other bartenders were middle-aged men who treated me with respect and patiently trained me. Worked at a fancy restaurant during the day. Worst job, management was unethical - sexual harassment common. Was fired for no reason. People envied my day job, laughed at my night job - it paid more and was fun. Never happened again. Dishonesty prevails.
Starting in the mid to late 90s I worked in IT. Most of the time I was the only woman working with a whole bunch of guys who... well they didn't have great social skills or a clear understanding of boundaries. On at least two occasions I was flat out told that they would lie if ever asked but that hiring me was an "experiment" but my presence was a disruption. Also been fired for wearing a skirt, it was an office and it was part of a suit. But the guy training me called me "legs" as his version of a joke when I came in. I got pissed and then was fired for not fitting in with the team starting with the fact I wore a skirt. Yes, again I was the only woman on the team.
