When I heard about Kim Kardashian’s ‘Kimoji’ app and saw it’s popularity (especially among young women) it made my insides feel sad. Its acceptance by wider society and more than 30 million of KK’s instagram followers is unsurprising given the fact that Apple itself relegates the role of women on it’s default emoji keyboard to ‘can-can girls’ and ‘princesses’.

Emojis are the fastest growing form of communication since the written word, and if you control the language, you control the conversation.

I would love for you to help me to create an alternative (or perhaps even an antidote) to ‘Kimoji’: ‘Femmoji’ will be a parody app that reflects reality through subverting the insanely popular emojis used in ‘Kimoji’ and making it into the laughing stock that it deserves to be.

Please feel free to suggest positive female role models for me to include in the app. Simply tweet the name you would like to see and #femmoji. Follow us on twitter @femmoji

I will stop taking suggestions at the end of Women’s History Month. (March 31st)

If I manage to get someone to build it, all profits will go to an assortment of women’s charities. I’ve never attempted anything like this before so please be patient!
