sexism is to judge somebody base on gender standar and norms...feminist can make that mistake too, so being feminist doesn't automatically make you not sexist...and being not sexist doesn't make you a feminist...feminism is the struggle of women for social rights, whatever their view on gender is.

I've been having conversations like this so many times. "You dont call yourself a feminist?" - no. "But you agree that we should have equal rights?" - yes. "That makes you a feminist!" - no it makes me normal.

Sometimes "Feminism" goes way too far though - there are women out there who call themselves feminist yet believe that women should be treated as superior to men, and men should be opressed etc. That isn't what feminism is about, it's about equality, not being better than men. I feel like any group that has a title has several bad apples that ruin it for the rest of the group. It's hard to even be apart of a group that was started for good because people have seen bad come out of it by the few bad apples. It happens in every group. Cause "normal" could mean you are neutral on the subject or that you think men and woman are equal but don't fight for it, and can you be a feminist if your not fighting for equality? Side note, the word "normal" also means different things to different people. A sexist could call themselves "normal". So I kind of feel like we still need the term feminist. ANYONE who is a perpetrator of domestic violence deserve to be punished. The court system is an absolute joke in protecting victims and things need to change NOW. It is all talk and no action. And judges/parole board need to be held accountable for releasing repeat offenders. As I was getting in my car he mocked my Warriors in Pink stickers. I looked him in the eye, "It is the breast cancer awareness group that got me through breast cancer." Jerk. Even with the report from the hospital and a lengthy report from the National Park Rangers, it was impossible to press charges. Willing to make a fool of myself to get attention, I did get a serious restraining order. He lived far away, we weren't married and didn't live together -- if this was difficult, imagine trying to file a report on your spouse. This was 2013. Important -- if law enforcement asks if you feel safe, be honest, no matter how uncomfortable it feels.
