Actually you only have to think once, and that is "Has this woman agreed to be touched by me?", and if the answer is No, you don't. Very easy, no need to think 10 times.

It HAS gone too far in some cases. My son knows a woman who would talk about her "abuser". My son asked her about it at one point. She said that she was playing a game of D&D and some guy was having his character flirt with hers. She went along with it because "she didn't want to be murdered". At a D&D game. With friends. That is NOT SEXUAL ASSULAT. NOT SEXUAL ABUSE. She continues to refer to him as her "abuser". My son has heard three other similar stories. These women are in their late 20s, early 30s.

Maybe half the police force in the US and many non developed countries. But not in most of the western world. We don't have a huge gun issue. EDIT: Since some people seem to have an issue of me only commenting on the gun part and not mentioning anything about domestic violence, well here is my stance. ANYONE who is a perpetrator of domestic violence deserve to be punished. The court system is an absolute joke in protecting victims and things need to change NOW. Too many people are dying at the hands of their "loved one" and something should have been done years ago. We keep hearing about perpetrators facing tougher punishments but it is yet to be seen. It is all talk and no action. And judges/parole board need to be held accountable for releasing repeat offenders. If the reoffender ends up killing someone, the judge/parole board have blood on their hands. Hopefully that satisfies some of you.

Imagine if more boys/men acted this way. After I was raped, my father asked what I was wearing, it was absolutely my fault. The captain of a small town police force refused to let an officer file a report acknowledging I was assaulted -- despite the hand shaped bruises and a note from the hospital explaining why they were certain I assaulted. As I was getting in my car he mocked my Warriors in Pink stickers. I looked him in the eye, "It is the breast cancer awareness group that got me through breast cancer." Jerk. Even with the report from the hospital and a lengthy report from the National Park Rangers, it was impossible to press charges. Willing to make a fool of myself to get attention, I did get a serious restraining order. He lived far away, we weren't married and didn't live together -- if this was difficult, imagine trying to file a report on your spouse. This was 2013. Important -- if law enforcement asks if you feel safe, be honest, no matter how uncomfortable it feels.
It is the good ole boys club. It is taking time for men to undnerstand they have to stop making excuses for unacceptable conduct.
