The hardships of being a woman have been documented since the dawn of the world. It's always a damsel in distress taking care of her husband, children, household, all the while looking after herself to comply with the beauty standards of the age. The many worries stacked on top of her fragile shoulders cannot compare in their severeness though to the general sexism beliefs about women and their bodies, to this day making it seem as though us ladies, do not own our bodies, but rather are here for men's entertainment.

Now, feminism and feminist views are not something that we usually associate with funny memes and jokes, but humor is often the best medium to convey cold hard facts and the ugly truth.

There are plenty of tweets about feminism that are so funny, even the manliest men laugh at them. But the online world expands way beyond Twitter, so Bored Panda has decided to gather some of the best feminist and sexist memes from all over the internet. Pregnancy struggles, anti-harassment clothes, this list features it all, and then some more of these funny jokes. Even Simone de Beauvoir would be laughing at these sexism examples. Scroll down to check it out and upvote the best memes by these brave and funny women.

Why would you show only fictional characters? These mean nothing. Show the female Russian snipers of WWII, show real female vikings - fictional characters are meaningless.

The Girl on Fire

I wouldn't say fictional characters are meaningless. They've inspired many, many people over time, myself included. That being said, there are plenty of historical women they could have but in as well.

Fictional characters are far from meaningless. They still give girls a role model.

If you're going to put an LOTR character why put Arwen? Arwen didn't do much except pinve over Aragorn. Eowyn would be the much better choice.

These may be all fictional but sadly in this day and age it's already a 'win' that we have strong female fictional characters at all and not just damsels in distress.

So you fight like Rey, who is only strong through being backed by feminists? Who is only strong because of how the universe she lives in lowers the requirements for woman to be strong? Yeah, seems about right.

Brenda Owens

We all need somewhere to start. Leave the girls alone, sometimes your idols don't have to be real. What about Xena The Worrior Princess? I got my inner strength from her and my mom.

1. those are all fictional and therefore aren't accurate since they were composed by women like you who believe that we need diversity by making them powerful with writers power giving the illusion they can actually make a difference 2. "you fight like a girl" is reference to the science that women have more lower body strength than men and men have more upper body strength then men and that men have more growing muscle, you MUST have seen a male body builder and female body builder next to each other before right? it isn't sexist it's a fact that men generally have more muscles than women

I like Black Widow and ScarJo as much as the next person but BW is a perfect example of the blatant sexualisation of female characters in movies (the pose says it all) so she may not be the best example for the statement this picture is trying to make...
