We will teach our Kid sign language from start in because we figured out that it helps them to articulate early. We start with most important baby words like "drink" "sleep" "more" ... its called baby language signa but they are very very close and similar to the signs. I will keep doing this when he can speak so he will be able to communicate to not hearing people.

Just an additional point: ASL (american sign language) has different grammar than regular english. Just in case there are some grammar nazis out there. :)

Im deaf myself, and this JUST restored my faith in hearing people. PLEASE do not put us in the "deaf and dumb" category. WE breathe air, eat and live just like you - except we can't hear. WE aren't broken, just one of the 5 senses that isn't working. Thank you!

I have been dealing with depressions for about two years with having worse moments through out the last year. On top of that i have been single for nearly the same time. The thing that breaks my heart is looking at so many kind people and knowing they are the ones that western society often writes off, a "bad a*s" teenager, an overweight black woman working as a server in a diner, the elderly, an Iranian school teacher, a "creepy" guy with long hair...but there they are, living their life and being kind.
