Everyone Falls in Love With This Featherless Lovebird, Send Mini Sweaters To Save Her From Freezing
When 23-year-old Isabella Eisenmann from Boston saw a social media post about a featherless lovebird Rhea needing a home, she decided to help. Now the whole world is falling in love with Eisenmann’s lovebird, with birdie’s followers on Instagram even sending her custom-made sweaters.
Unfortunately, Rhea needs those sweaters not only to look good, but also to stay warm, as due to Psittacine, a beak and feather disease Rhea is quite ‘naked’. In severe cases this disease can even cause the birds to lose their claws and beaks. Luckily, Rhea has only a mild form of this condition and doesn’t need anything than an annual blood test.
Besides, Rhea has no business being sad, and is extremely social, always out of the cage and running around in the house, at times even singing like crazy! A lovebird to fall in love with, Rhea shows that ‘different’ can be super cute.
‘Acceptance is key and no matter how different you are physically, you are still beautiful; that’s what I want people to learn from her. Always smile, be happy and have a positive attitude’ Eisenmann told Bored Panda.

Thought the same, but I did not dare to write down 'ugly'...
Load More Replies...She's so cute. She makes up for being feather less by her cute eyes and expressions!
I second the vote for Isabella's "Good Person Award!"
Load More Replies...It seems to be irreversible, but I'm not an expert :) (source : http://www.avianbiotech.com/diseases/PBFD.htm)
Load More Replies...She is adorable!!My mother raise green parrots from eggs when I was a child and they're born like this so, I learn to appreciate this type of beauty. I find Rhea absolutely cute!!! And more so this young woman that took the task to foster her and give her love and confidence! KUDOS!!
Aww, what a cutie who needs a little hoodie to keep her head warm too!
The bird is actually quite cute to me. Reminds me of my first pet chicken. I am glad that there are people who look past physicality.
There is a company called Flight Quarters that makes a wide range of avian fashion. I wonder if their flight suits in combination with their hoodies or Snuggies would be the ideal attire for little Rhea. I don't know enough about birds to say for sure, but it seems to me this would give the most coverage and be adorable, too. As I understand it, the flight suit opens up to change out the liner, so you wouldn't even have to take it off of her for every poo change, which could leave her vulnerable to chill. Would this be a good option for Rhea?
even my parrot Lazo has become looking like this...did you not consult a bird specialist? In India..no solution..plzz tell if u get something on kumarishalka@gmail.com
I think that bird is adorable! I have a friend that may even want to make her a sweater if the owner would agree to it! o.o
Awwwwww I think she's adorable and anyone that calls her ugly must be hating because there ugly inside and out. Special creatures deserve attention as well just cause there different doesn't mean there ugly. The lady who did this is a saint for being so willing to take in such a cutie pie and give her a chance at life
Poor lil girl, shes still a cutie even without her feathers! I have a lovie too, they are very cuddly and love being around their human companion. She looks well loved :)
Rhea for me is epitome for "WYSIWG' - What You See Is What You Get. This is the real me and I'm living it baby-you take it or leave it.....As for Isabella, Hats off to you for being simply awesome....

Is the whole world getting crazy?! Hey, we r human beings and they r just animals! Do u know how many children r there in the world starving hungry? Why u just don't throw these kinda piece of meats out and be a real human helping those children instead? Open ur eyes!
It's adorable because it looks like a cross between a human baby and a turtle baby. kinda like Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs.
Rhea you are cute, you sweetie pie! Thank you Isabella for your love and compassion for this little cutie!
Ah shucks, I feel bad for her.....does her skin get dry, and can you put coconut or ANY kind of organic oil? If I were her....I would LOVE a chenille (?) sweater......sooo soft. Chirp*
My lovie has had feather loss, but his was due to stress and hormones, so he was lucky to be able to find a way to stop it with medication. Poor little thing is so cute but looks so strange without her feathers. Gods bless Isabella for giving her a home and all those wonderful people for sending Rhea little sweaters to keep warm!
Psittacine beak and feather disease is fatal, with no cure or safe vaccine. It effects millions of parrots all over the world and if anyone really wants to help they should make a donation to Dr. Branson Ritchie at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. The disease is similar to AIDS in that it destroys the birds immune system, Feather loss and beak and feet lesions are outward systems of the disease.
I'd teach her how to make jurassic park dinosaur sounds and claim shes a rare and elusive mini pterodactyl=epic pet
The French have the perfect phrase: "Jolie laide" (beautiful in an ugly sort of way) and very sweet. As is Rhea's human's care of her.
I don't think i'd want to hold her cuz she looks super fragile.
She has PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease) NOT Psittacine! Psittacine is the scientific term for parrot (Psittacidae)! Rhea is a Psittacine, she does not HAVE Psittacine....
Classic vegi comment....it's true what they say...you can't be a vegi and not bust everyone's balls about it....
