Fat Dad Cat Kept Eating More Than His Share, So His Owners Came Up With A Genius Solution
Meet Meatball, the fat dad cat who needs a little bit of help keeping up with good manners. See, recently he became a parent, and when his humans started giving solid food to his kittens, he took it as an invite to eat more than he should – all at the expense of his children and his puurrfect body shape.
Meatball, his partner Mochi, and their adorable feline kids Nugget and Pepper live in Hong Kong with their two humans, Daphnie and her husband Koon Wah.
When their owners saw that Meatball was gobbling up more food than before, getting fat, and taking away from his children, they decided to do something about it – especially when they saw that Meatball’s daughter Pepper started following her father’s bad habits.
“Koon Wah built partitions to separate them during meal times,” Daphnie told The Dodo. “We also had some fabric from some sake wine we bought in Japan and I sewed these to the front of each partition,” she said.
“It has helped a little in terms of separating them during meal times but in terms of weight control, Meatball and Pepper are still a little overweight and the chubbier out of the four cats,” Daphnie said. Well, with at least they’re on the right path.

Meet Meatball, the fat dad cat who needs a little bit of help keeping up with good manners
Recently he became a parent, and when Meatball’s humans started giving solid food to his kittens…
He took it as an invite to eat more than he should – at the expense of his children and his body shape
Then, his owner came up with a brilliant idea – to do partitions so that Meatball doesn’t get to overeat
“We also had some fabric from some sake wine… and I sewed these to the front of each partition”
“It has helped a little in terms of separating them during meal times…”
“But in terms of weight control, Meatball [is] still overweight and the chubbier out of the four cats”
Well, at least you’re on the right path now, buddy!

Share on FacebookHaha I have a fat cat too, and no matter what I do he'll eat both his food, my other cat's food, and of course my dog's food
I love Meatball' s attitude when posing .it says"i have 4 kids, so what if i let myself go a little"
This is an absolute genius idea that I must do for my 5 cats as they all have special dietary needs and Chester likes to eat everyones! This is amazing
If you have carriers, you can feed each in their carrier. They'll start to associate the carrier positively.
Load More Replies...I have the opposite problem but came up with the perfect remedy. My thinnest cat (perfect body size) 'inhales' his portion faster than the rest of my kitties (I can him a kitty-disposal), then he pushes his liter mates aside & eats all their meal as well (they could all stand to lose a pound or two); however, something had to be done. So, Mighty Mouse gets his meal first... in the spare bathroom with the door closed & I feed the rest in the kitchen. When they are finished, we let Mouse out of the bathroom to do the clean up of any left-overs. It works great! Mouse is so smart when it's meal time, he knows he's first and makes a b-line right for the bathroom. I only have one problem I need to work on... a couple of times I forgot to let him out right after the other kitties were done (oops) and he had to hang out for a couple hours in the bathroom. I feel really bad when it happens & give him an extra treat and lots of love when I remember to come get him, but I'm getting better now. :)
I have the exact same cat as you. We have to put him away as well after he finishes his own food.
Load More Replies...I have a cat the same color and he is fat like that too! Great idea! Mine had to jump up on clothes dryer to get his food. Lol
"He took it as an invite to eat more than he should – at the expense of his children" I can't stop laughing at that part!
One cat must be stuffed since there is only food feeding stations, looks real to me. We have two cats that will do the same thing at every chance they get. Trying to keep the two from eating their food plus the two other cats portions as well. I have thought of getting bowls that only open by a micro chip, put the receiver on the collar of the cat, only that bowl will open for the matching receiver.
I've wanted to do something like this for the longest time. They have microchip doors and food dishes, so only select cats can go in certain rooms with food, or only certain ones can use certsin dishes, but that can get expensive fast with multiple cats. I'd like to know what the name of those timed feeders are and where to find them. They are really neat.
my cat is much fatter than that...she is a massive guts and can't stop her eating my other cats food...
