Posters are a very important part of movies. It's the first thing we see when we go to the movie theater. They show what the movie is all about, setting the vibe and tone for the type of film it's going to be. But what if we tweaked the posters just a little bit to make them funnier? Or maybe even make a statement?

That's exactly what a digital artist from Chicago, known as Doctor Photograph, does. He takes the posters of movies we all know and love and digitally edits them to make a parody, a comment, or sometimes even a political statement.

The artist told Bored Panda: “One day I saw a product parody online and was fooled absolutely into thinking it was real. After a good laugh and sending it to all my friends, I thought I should try to get in on the fun myself.”

More info: Instagram

Doctor Photograph was inspired by parodies, so no wonder his work is a reflection of that. The artist likes to remake movies and TV show covers with a sarcastic comment about the plot, ending, or how long the show took to finish. He even makes some comments on the more controversial topics, like politics or actors breaking the law.

Doctor Photograph told us what the main goal of his illustrations is: "It's always to provide entertainment. Either by tricking people into thinking my 'doctored' images are real or making parodies so absurd, they can't help but laugh."

The digital artist has almost 40k followers on his Instagram and is always growing because a lot of people are enjoying his edits. The goal of them is to give people a good laugh or maybe even trick some of the more naive ones into thinking his creations are real.

The artist shared what inspired him to create these edits: "The first fake product I ever photoshopped was a Heinz flavor mashup called Mayonster, which was Mayo combined with Monster Energy Drink. After seeing how far it spread (pun intended), I knew I had to keep going."

We have lots of similar posts to this one here on Bored Panda. Here's one showing the worst and funniest products out there, or perhaps you want more funny and silly edits that are bound to bring a smile to your face, or maybe you would like to see this artist use Photoshop to create surreal giant cat landscapes? These and many more on Bored Panda!

Doctor Photograph told us how he got into art: "I'm a big fan of comedy podcasts and a lot of times comedians will tell a joke or tell a story that just needs a visual. I bought and learned how to use Photoshop just so I could get in on the fun of making those images."

The artist shared the most difficult part of creating these edits: "Rather than just photoshop a store in the background of my products, I like to go to supermarkets, video/music shops, or electronic stores to give them a realistic look. Obviously, this adds time that others probably would rather spend creating their next concept, but I feel taking that time to add the extra layer of reality will only help the final result."

Doctor Photograph describes his style and sense of humor: "I'd say I'm very meticulous, sometimes to a fault, but its worth it when the result is getting seen by millions of people. As far as my sense of humor... I'm all over the place, but I think calling me a satirist sums it up well."

"Mayonster is going to be three years old in August. I'll keep making them as long as I can think of ideas. (If you've got something you'd like to see created, reach out!)" said Doctor Photograph when asked when he started creating these edits and how long he will continue making them.

Here's a challenge from Doctor Photograph for you: "Pick one of my posts and share it on your social media pretending you found it while you were at a store, just say 'omg what the heck??' Wait like two hours until you get a bunch of comments and then please tag me so I can read them all. Reactions like those are my favorite."

He’s actually a surprisingly phenomenal dramatic actor. He just prefers making goofy movies with his friends.

this one annoys me, what's so wrong with a show of 6 white heterosexual friends? why can't white people have white friends given there's lot of white people in America. It's an insult to the other actors that were of other ethnic backgrounds that were on the show (Ross' girlfriends) can we stop looking at actors skin colour & judging them on that & just see them as actors.

Nah, they lived in New York City. They would have had all kinds of friends and other people. It’s fine that the six of them are white and straight, but ancillary characters would definitely have not all been white. That’s not even possible in NYC. You aren’t a victim because someone pointed it out either.

To be honest there is some diversity, just not in skin colour. -Joey is Italian American, Catholic, and fairly low income and doesn't conform to societies expectations of what he "should" be doing. (Eg. Getting a steady job, getting married, having kids etc) -Chandler came from a difficult family history with divorce, and has an openly transgender father. -Phoebe is spiritual, lost her mother to suicide and lived on the streets as a child. -Monica and Ross have a more middle class upbringing and are from a Jewish family who also celebrate Christmas. Ross is clearly scientifically minded and not religious, Monica overcame food addiction and obesity, and lives with OCD. Rachel again defied her family and left a somewhat arranged marriage, to be cut off from her family and have to make it on her own. There are different types of diversity, outside of skin colour.

This is something that narrow-minded millennials don't understand. This was from the 90's. And at least to me, was the first tv program to show a gay wedding (Susan and Carol). Or a trans dad (Chandler's). Or couples of different ages (Mónica and Richard / Phoebe's brother). Or normalizing divorce. Or surrogate gestation. And all the black people showed was in a empowered position (Charlie was a better noun paleontologist than Ross / The guy that interviewed Chandler for a job / Ross's colleague in the museum -and BTW, they talk about this) and never in a low-skilled job (in fact, all waiters, store clerks, delivery people... all of them are white, and many times are Rachel, Joey or Monica themselves). So if you are going t o criticize this, first go and have a look to all the TV shows from 90's to nowadays, and I'm sure you will shut up in four or five seconds.

Joey was Italian American the only boy in a group of strong sisters, Monica and Ross are Jewish one has a tendancy to be incredibly over achieving from having been unpopular as a teen, the other a socially awkward nerd, Phoebe was a twin with a traumatic background, Rachel was from a wealthy insular lifestyle, and Chandlers Dad is now a woman. Diversity is not only about race, this group are incredibly diverse.

Diversity, nowadays is about being black, a gay or a trangender. Italic-americans, Polish-americans, jews, French do not count as diversity Being from Salvador and from Mexico is not diverse. Both are Hispanics and nobody can imagine they are different. And do not dare to ask, of course The issue of diversity is a lie to make room for bad actors that are black, women or gays

Similar people TEND TO spend time together. Do you know what that means? White people usually hang out with white people just like black people usually hang out with black people. Now it's frowned upon that there is a series about six white people.

Why? Does people in America have not right to have 6 white heterosexual friends? Poor of you! Come to a free country where you can choose your friends without paying attention to their race nor their sexual activities.

No, you live in a free country. You do not have right to have 5 white heterosexual friends. Where do you think you live?

I'm black and thought friends was pretty diverse. I don't think there was anything wrong with 6 friends of the same ethnicity. This is by far my favorite TV show of all times.

I LOVE Friends but damn if they didn’t “play it safe” and flake out completely on diversity. It worked back then but it would look really weird now.

Not sure your age or if you remember the show but I think the same thing about Married With Children. The whole cast was nothing but caricatures, but the misogyny would get them so much hell if they produced it today.

"U.N.F.U.N.N.Y" would be a far more accurate title.

If they just peaked in high school that’d still be acceptable in society. It’s that they peaked in high school but they think they’re now untouchable in their stupid narrow views and shitty attitudes. How did I get all that from a punisher symbol? Go take a drive in America and see for yourself.

(And as a small batch of Formula One cars scream through a bend at 300 MPH, you hear a familiar whiny voice emerge from one of them:) "...and how about that pit crew? Have you ever noticed how fast they try to get rid of you? I mean, you come screeching in, entire chassis on fire or whatever, and two seconds later -they push you right back out there! You're like, 'Hey!? Where's the bedside manner? No chit-chat? Not even a snack? Can I get a sip of water? No! Out you go! " (Guitar riff follows) Dunnnn..Dun dun DUN!
