One open the door very fast and the other catches the dish with a blanket spanned between two arms. Gravity wont let them fall too fast and if you know where they will fall you can catch them easily.

Maybe u can slide a piece of thin (but strong) layer of cardboard between the door and plates. That layer would help to keep the plates from falling (and breaking) when another person reaches in (from the sides) and collects them. Dunno. Just an idea, most probably not the best & working one tho. Good luck!

Put the cupboard down horizontally, the plate should fall back. The other way is to open it ever so slightly, then use a metal coat hanger to secure the plate at the bottom, at the same time keep sliding the door until the gap is large enough for your hand to fit in, then you can push up the plates with your hands.

Instead of a coat hanger, use a fish tank net - bend the handle, so that you can first slide the net part in through a tiny gap, then turn it and position to catch (or at least soften the fall of) any falling plates.. Obviously, the net should be as large as possible.

Perhaps you could take a piece of sheet metal about half the width of the door or about even with the vertical molding on the door. Carefully open the door just enough to slide the sheet metal up and against the dishes. This will likely require two people. Once the metal is in place open the door and while one holds the metal tightly against the shelves the other person can pull the dishes back up on the shelf.

The Logopolis Solution: what you have is a problem of entropy. Your nice, ordered plates, suspended in the cupboard are tending dangeroysly to disorder. To solve this, simply create a Charged Vacuum Embointment into E-Space inside the cupboard so that the entropy can safely drain away. Just don't let some maniac get his hands on an Earth radio telescope circa 1970s or 80s, or else he could close the CVE which would shatter your plates instantly

But hey where's the fun in that ?

Seriously? I would open the cupboard about 1/8 to 1/4 inch, and slide in a thin but sturdy piece of plexiglass parallel to the cupboard door. (As big as the door).

Press it firmly against the shelf, keep holding it tightly against the shelf, and open the door. Now you have a door that you can slowly and incrementally slide down, rather than opening all at once.

Slowly slide it down, pulling out the dishes as you go. If I am picturing this correctly, you should be able to save every dish

They won't fall if you open the glass slowly and just enough to insert your arm which is doable because there is still space from both sides of the glass. slide the door to the right while the pressure of the objects on the glass will stop from making them fall, then you would substitute that pressure with your palm.

Third law of motion: When one object exerts a force on another, the second object exerts on the first a force equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.

My 8 year old says ants can carry thousands of times their own weight. That said, get millions of ants. Drill a small hole into the class. Put ants into a cake piping/icing bag. Slowly (so as not to kill the ants) ice them through the drilled hole. Ask them gently (so as not to kill their spirits) to push the dishes to a level of their choosing. Once they are done, turn the heat up really high to cook them so you don't have to pay for their labor. Vacuum up the bodies.

Lock the door first, it will keep the door frame stay in place when you smash the glass..
Smash the glass at the top, left and right..
Put the porcelain which 'hang on the glass' first meanwhile dont forget to keep the porcelain at the right at it's place.
I think it will be a domino effect if you only focus on one side and forget the other side.

Break or cut the pane of glass on the upper right, above the bowls on their sides. (Break only of these are separate panes of glass). Remove dishes above those bowls, any that are putting weight on them. Remove bowls on right on edge. You will probably lose 2-4 of the ones between the shelf and the same on the left no matter what. If you can keep them in place, the idea someone else suggested for a bowl or basket that is padded with towels and opening the door might save a couple more.

You're going to need more than two persons to help you hold some of the plates, no gloves but bare hands. Carefully and slowly break the glass, use ladders and with the help for your people, some will have to hold plates and some will have to remove them. Your problem is solved. Glass is cheaper to replace.

Stack a few mattresses on the floor in front of the cabinet door, throw a bunch of big fluffy bath towels on the mattresses to minimize bounce. Then, while standing on the mattresses open the door slowly to capture the falling dishes. Whichever dishes you miss will land on the mattresses and fluffy towels. Some dishes may be saved as long as they don't land on top of each other. It would be helpful if you had a second person removing the saved dishes from the mattresses as they land.

then git bisect bad until the plates are in a safe position
get your plates out safely

should you want to know who made this disaster up, you can use
git bisect good -> if plates are ok
git bisect bad -> if plates are not

Once finished the reference refs/bisect/bad will be pointing to the moment in which those plates assumed an incorrect position. Look at the committer.

Okay. Seriously:

cut a hole into the right glassplate and try to carefully balance the plates on the left, which should already be sufficient in order to push the stack into a more stable state. Then some other person might open the door, taking part of the stack.

if you use a good glasscutter, you can then decorate the hole in the glass or just let it as it is. funny thing to remember :)

Oh dear some of the replies here are funny but there's also good replies. I would def do the easiest & safest thing. Someone suggested tilting the cupboard back & then get them out. Also, you can purchase a glass cutter pretty cheap these days, you can cut a round circle just big enough for your arm to fit through. This way you don't need to smash anything. Got a diamond ring? Ha if you don't wish to damage or cut the front, go from behind but be wary you don't knock the plates off the shelf.

Break or Cut a square in one of the glasses at the top (as in Mission Impossible), then reach for the plates to grab/rearrange them. While holding them from above, ask a person to gently open the door and grab those who may fall.

This is a sliding door. Maybe the plate will slide over the glass when you open the door. As soon as you can reach in grab the plates.

Fully fill the cupboard with steam, then pour in some liquid nitrogen(slowly). The water droplets between the plates will freeze and the ice will hold all plates in position. Open the door and take the plates out carefully, and place them on a safe place while waiting the ice to melt.

Try cmd+z until they go back to original position. If that was too many steps behind, cmd+x the plates and cmd+v them on to a new shelf. Dot forget to cmd+t to transform the position to the correct one or you might end up in the same mess.

Brush up on your telekinesis. Throw a party. Then use the power to remove cabinet from wall, preferably with a crowbar. Continue to hold the cabinet steady and float it to the living room where everyone is partying. If all works to plan, people will be some impressed with your party that they will put money in a hat. With that money you can buy ceramic glue. You're gonna need a lot of it. Good luck!

Smash the glass at the bottom, hold the plates/bowls and move them in a little and carefully open the door. If you smash the glass to the right there's a chance the bowls above the blue ones could fall over. The glass at the bottom is your best bet. Unless you break the one above it and just elevate yourself, arrange and fix the bowls in and slowly open the door. Good luck!!

If there is no shelf above, Break the cupboard glass above the shelf/dishes, as it looks like a fairly inexpensive flat sheet of glass to replace. Just reach in and grab dishes at that point, being careful not to open the door from inside.

There is a very logical way to solve it. 1. Train to become an astronaut. 2. Travel to space. 3. Travel faster than Light around earth for a well calculated amount of time (you do the math here since you are educated) 4. Land on earth 5. Quickly make sure they dont fall.

Simply drop the house from space. Its acceleration due to gravity will act to cancel that of the plates - the cupboard door will open but the plates will not fall. On your way down remove plates from cupboard and stack SENSIBLY on the side. Eject from house
