This Woman Was So Tired Of Her Narcissistic Co-Worker She Trolled Her With A 5-Year-Long Prank
There is a classic re-occurring Saturday Night Live sketch called ‘Penelope,’ with Kristin Wiig acting as an obnoxious woman whose purpose was to show up and one-up everyone around her. What makes the skit so hilarious (other than the acting) is that most of us have encountered our own ‘Penelope’ at one point or another.
Well, Tumblr user Amy shared her story of retaliation against one such co-worker, Faye, who was quite skilled in the art of one-upmanship. Faye is described as quite the narcissist in the post and couldn’t even remember Amy’s name. Well, one day she asked about Amy’s “son”, Tim, and well things sort of spiraled from there.

No. Because it's 2018 and everything must be cringy. More points if there is whining in it.
Load More Replies...A pathetic story about 2 pathetic women who make up pathetic stories to make their pathetic lives look better. I'd say that's a lose-lose situation.
The response isn't pathetic at at all. She's just having a little fun with a woman who doesn't care about anyone else around her. It's better than getting angry.
Load More Replies...So to deal with this narcisstic woman she was literally did the same things the woman was doing .....back at her? That's not "trolling in a genius way" that's just petty. Really petty.
She seemed happy with her solution. She was also no longer subject to the endless bragging sessions of this self-absorbed woman. I call it a win/win!
Load More Replies...We nick named my co-worker "Topper" because whatever you did he would always top. We started making up things like "I climbed Mt. Rainer, with my teeth."
That's a lot of time and work for something so petty. A few polite brush offs probably would have worked just as well and been a lot less hassle. Of course she'd have to lose that feeling of superiority.
Fake or not this is kind of what you might dream about doing if you face the Faye type of person... entertaining thow... random reading material with a good clickbait title
For my "Faye": I dreamt about filling her hair conditioner with Nair and later dumping buckets of stink bugs into her desk drawer...
Load More Replies...Sometimes I get a feeling like theses posts are social experiments trying to work out what percentage of the world are douche bags and actually think this story is ethical and (in which case you may be a narcissist yourself if not just really self absorbed) or actually have some sort of empathy left and believe that the Amy is part of the problem in society where people who obviously have issues (like Faye who probably has made up her fantasy life because her real life is so sad and probably lonely) are bullied even more so by people who have ethical issues themselves. Amy is a bully. Faye seems to have some social issues and Amy is being part of the problem. Not remembering someone's name is not being a narcissist. It's just self absorbed people need to know the difference.
You may be right but the part of Amy being the bully it far-fetched. If someone does something like this he/she is not bullying the other person more like testing the person's interest. Faye is the modern vision on a Victorian era really high class lady while Amy is sort of a middle class or lower high class. This is most likely the invention of someone that read too much Jane Austen-pseudo drama for the sake of drama.

Agreed. No one who is old enough to have a kid in college is on Tumblr. They should have tried this on Facebook.
Load More Replies...You do know that narcissistic Faye has been putting unbearable pressure on her Steven to be better than your fake son for the last 5 years, right? Children of narcissists live in the earth's equivalent of hell. Oh, she brags about them to you, but she treats them like $#!*. Narcissists do not care about ANYBODY.
Opposite to that I had a boss who would always tell me I should find a nice girl settle down invest in a home. Five years later when I was moving to a new position and he was chirping again I mentioned how, and truthfully. Oh have been married for about nine years and I have children. They and my new supervisors children are on the same soccer team. Then spelled out the activities we enjoy as a family. Done in front of my co workers he looked lime a true was. No one had enough respect for him to poin out any of the errors he made about his co worker's. Sad
(Sorry ignore the "looked lime a true was" typos on my small ph screen)

I sure as hell don't spend five years regurgitating and doctoring the same, tired joke over and over just to mess with them. That five years could have been spent making Tim real, and raising him to potentially become an astrophysicist, which is far better than "haha, I'm one-upping a narcissist". The whole thing sounds like a crappy 'It's Always Sunny..." episode.
Right! And if Faye finds out Amy made up her super handsome astrophysicist son out of thin air, Amy looks like a psychopath at worst and just sad at best.

Pretty much my aunt. Also my sister cant have children and my mom straight up told her that that hurt because SHE wanted grandchildren. Happened a year ago and can still make me furious
Load More Replies...I'd be willing to bet Amy's spent much more time thinking about Faye than Faye has thinking about Amy. Amy's mad because she didn't remember if she had kids or not after working with her for 2 days and then not seeing her for a year. Sounds like Amy's pretty narcissistic herself.
That’s funny, but not worthy of an article. also she is just enabling Faye and speaking up about how useless and pathetic Faye is would be more effective.
Plot twist: her name is actually Emily, and Faye is her psychoanalyst trying to reach out to her amidst her multiple personality disorder which involves this Amy persona who lost an actual son named Tim in a tragic accident.
Disgusting, maybe her colleague is just distracted, and forgets names, I know I do. I constantly mix up people as well, and to be honest I went to work to WORK, not socialise. I remember one stupid cow always trying to trick me and being nasty, so I would just ignore what she'd just said or put her down, depending on my mood. Anyway it's not narcissist, it's narcissistic, and that behaviour wasn't even narcissistic, she's not proud of herself, she's proud of her own children, and who isn't?
Seriously, it was a conversation a year before and she's upset the woman didn't remember she didn't have children. And I highly doubt that she said "I like Emily better" and kept calling her that. If any of this is even true.

So the braggart has a doctor for a son, and the fake "one-up" son is an astrophysicist. ... PLEASE tell me there was a conversation like this at some point: Faye: "Stephen is so smart, and his job is sooooo difficult - he's a brain surgeon, you know" Author: "A brain surgeon? Not exactly rocket science, is it?"
lol amusing. She should hire an actor to be "tim" now that would be entertaining
it took 5 years to read this and then i killed myself. Love how narcissistic people can spend so much time convinced other people are the narcissists...
I once met someone like that. She knew everything. Nearly everything I told her about myself, she did it better. But I actually don't think she was lying. Some people are just astonishing, and meeting them really pays off.
Holy s**t! It's my sisters in law. They both treat my wife just like this woman; never listening and always needing to be better.
Instead of a fake son she should have just went over the top with praise for: Faye's children's accomplishments and gushed about how wonderful everything is that Faye owns, much better than everyone else's, my she has such an eye for fashion, etc. Just reinforce everything that Faye says. You're being a passive aggressive prick but they never know the difference.
Pathological liars lie about everything to everyone. Amy is lying only to one person about a single topic. Hardly pathological.
