#1 is my special place I stay in each year - Haut de Cagnes, a beautiful perched medieval village only 15 minutes from the Nice airport and 3.5 kl walk to the Mediterranean Sea!!! I guess they are trying to keep this special village a secret by not naming it? I use rivierabreakaway.com for my holiday rentals in this village. I go off season for a month usually. 10 years I have been going there! So many options for day-tripping nearby. Transit is easy to go to Italy for lunch or perhaps Cannes, Vence, Monaco or Antibes. Riviera Breakaway has numerous photos of this village on her home page.

(Foz means river mouth, and Égua means mare.) You should check the other "Aldeias do Xisto", they're all awesome.
