I believe we'd come out with a better understanding of ourselves. Or at the very least, of our surroundings.

They're phrased differently but essentially ask the same thing and invite other users to share some of the most disturbing facts they know. And many have. We managed to get in touch with one of the people who started this discussion, u/Literal-Pile-of-Poo, and they were kind enough to have a little chat with us about their now-viral post.
"I think I [came up with the idea for it when I] was just watching TV and [since] I liked reading those kinds of threads in r/AskReddit where people tell stories or something that was just interesting like [random] facts, I thought I would just make a post that I would find interesting to read as well," the Redditor told Bored Panda.

They grow in the ovary, in dermoid cysts. Basically they are stem cells that started to develop into specific tissue. It can happen in testicles too, but then they are usually malign. In ovaries they are typically harmless. I had one in my left and one in my right ovary and were removed. Both contained bone, fat, and hair tissue.

It's called a teratoma. Interestingly, I was diagnosed with having one about a week ago. It's a kind of non-cancerous tumour made of cells that randomly specialise to be bone or hair. I have teeth in my right ovary! :D

Yup! I had a dermoid cyst take over my left ovary and it was only spotted because I had joint hip pain and has an xray. Cue cancer-scare panic stations by the hospitals but turns out it was 'just' Dermot (my sis named him!) the Dermoid. He had teeth and was so big he needed two hands to hold him. Promised my partner and flatmate I'd have Dermot Woz Ere tattooed over the scar. Have yet to do that 🤣

you can actually grow teeth almost anywhere on your body it's just more likely in some spots like the ovaries.

I remember this from Reproductive Physiology in college... it's called a dermoid cyst. They evidently originate from a totipotential germ cell retained within the ovary, which are able to develop into all orders of cells necessary to form mature tissues and often recognizable structures such as hair, bone, sebaceous material, neural tissue and teeth.
I think this is something that occurs when there are at least two embryos, one of which does not survive and is absorbed by the surviving one. The lost embryo may still produce teeth, hair, etc. in various locations in the other twin's body (including near the ovaries). This may also result in a chimera, a person who can produce non matching DNA results from different parts of their body. This once resulted in a woman whose DNA test did not match her children's tests and required court ordered witnessing of the birth of her next child with immediate DNA testing....which also did not match.
