My mother is a diabetic with depression issues and extreme back pain she's got about 20 different pills. Imagine if his mother saw my mom cuz apparently my mother is a regular drug addict trying to influence her clean son. These are the same people who won't vaccinate their children and make people like that one girl with the autoimmune disorder suffer and die because of stupidity on there end. The same person will probably stuff his or her children up with homeopathic stuff, even in case of serious deseases.
Having had a grand mal seizure in front of a child, i can attest to the fact that it can be quite a traumatic thing for a young child to witness. Imagine seeing your caregiver flopping and flailing around, and then being completely unresponsive while paramedics and emt's load them up in an ambulance and take them away. And all the while you're too young to understand what's going on. This person probably should not procreate if they truly believe this is preferable to taking a pill in front of a child.
Looks like she didn't even read her explanation, or she's even more stupid for not knowing what epilepsy is or apparently prefers her child to be possibly traumatized this way

My ex-girlfriend was similar to this as well. I am bi-polar and take medicine daily for it to keep me "normal" and when with my ex, she said I didn't need medicine but rather I just needed to pray harder and God would take it away. Now I am Christian and all, but come on... If only it were that simply for all life's problems.

Face palm. People like this shouldn't be allowed to procreate. How did her child make it until now (without any medication I presume)? When possible and reasonable I prefer natural remedies over drugs but when you have a serious condition you need the help of modern medicine and take drugs sometimes... and being conscious instead of on the floor 😬
This makes me sad. People are so stupid! It's epilepsy medication! They MUST take it! Why does this make me sad? My cousin passed away a week and a half before Christmas, due to seizure. She was severely epileptic. There's no such thing as mind over matter when it comes to that kind of illness. It can't just go away!

My daughter had her friends mom tell her that she wasn't aloud to have her medicine during a sleep over because the mom didn't believe in antidepressants. She was told mind over matter and positive thinking was all she needed. I had a few words with the mom when I picked her up.
I literally know people of this opinion. "Mental health is all a lie and people on medication are just weak". Says the guy who smokes weed and drinks to self medicate.
And if you're having a seizure, your mind is asleep, so it doesn't matter. Mind over matter. (I have seizures.)
Not for epilepsy (probably) but for lots of other illnesses/disorders/injuries it can help to have a positive attitude because of hormones and distracting yourself. Still very stupid. Edit, several years later: I think this comment was a tone-deaf of me. I wasn't as educated on mental health and chronic illness as I am now, and now I understand why it can be hard to stay positive when your environment isn't supportive/when you're having a bad day/when your brain isn't functioning right chemically. Medication is important for managing all types of illnesses, including epilepsy!
Nice though it would be to think that this is too stupid to be real, the reality is that there are indeed lots of people who do truly feel this way. The ones who believe you can 'pray away the gay' and that only sinners get sick. And the ones that say that medication is a crutch, whilst leaning heavily on their religion to support their backwards and inaccurate beliefs.
