By Kris Boedhaman – I started doing event and nightlife photography in 2002 in clubs all around Belgium. It has always been my passion to capture the happiness and colorful world around me. In the 90’s you could find me at the house and rave parties throughout Europe, after the change of the millennium I made somewhat of a switch to techno and eventually I discovered Goa Trance and Psychedelic Trance. I fell in love instantly; fast kicks, deep basses, the most amazing, complex and psychedelic melodies. But what struck me the most was magical and artistic scene behind the music. As a photographer I was always looking for the images around me, showing the color and beauty of the underground scenes.
Psytrance festivals and parties are happening all over the world every weekend and in some countries even every day. The people going to those events are mostly a relatively small and tight group of people, traveling their country, continent and the entire world for the best parties and festivals. Seeing the same people every weekend and every summer really makes it feel like a like minded family!
Below you can find a few shots that I made the post couple of years on parties and festivals throughout Europe, to give you a sneak peak into a world that is so vibrant and alive, yet so hidden.
