Experts Say Dogs Dream About Their Humans, People Can’t Stop Crying
Latest research claims that when dogs sleep, they are dreaming about their humans. This was published in People magazine’s interview with an expert from Harvard University. This news hit us over a week ago, but dog owners can’t seem to get over it. Dogs are already famous for being ‘man’s best friend’, but now we know that their loyalty and unconditional love extend to their dream zone too…
”Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you,” Dr. Deirdre Barrett told People magazine.
This excerpt from the article has had more than 60,000 retweets. It’s like dog owners’ hearts just split open with love and people won’t stop weeping and crying, especially when they see their furballs sleeping. They keep wondering ‘Are you dreaming of me, my sweet little pooch?’…
We can only guess, but the prospect is heart-warming. Let’s admit that it takes the dog loyalty thing to the next level…

Share on FacebookI hope I am not insensitive now, but why are these people posting pictures of them crying? That mammals dream (a lot) was known before, and that for a dog the focal points of his or her life (his pack, and thereby, his human family) would be subject of the dreams feels like a confirmation of what dog owners would have guessed. The research is compelling, but it does not make your dog any more loyal than he or she already is. Which is extremely loyal already. Do not get me wrong; a sleeping dog is always a pleasant sighting, and being aware of how much you mean to your furry friend is definitely good. But I simply do not get the crying part...
I share your views and to be honest I can hardly believe that anyone can exactly know what dogs dream about.
Load More Replies...Its sweet if they do but pictures of yourself crying over it, come on. The modern world has got hysterical.
Lol! Yours and mine both. That and how they plan on taking over the world.
Load More Replies...I have only had my dog 4 months, and she was a street dog in Kuwait. She has a LOT of nightmares so I think she is dreaming of past trauma most of the time, so I pet her gently and kiss her until she wakes up. She is my beautiful baby.
My dog is forever asleep. I wonder if she dreams about me in heaven, that is if she hasn't already reincarnated into a person
I hope this is true for cats too! I'd love to know if my ferals dream of me scratching their chins and petting them.
Cats probably mostly dream about boxes and how cozy they are. Boxes with running laptops beneath them. :)
Load More Replies...I don't care if my dog dreams of me or not, so long as they both have happy ones instead of nightmares.
I hate it, when people post "watch me react"... this is nowhere near authentical this is all played and faked. Nobody will react like "oh wow, wait, got to get my camera first"
I dunno... I give my dog every form of protection a human can, which is a ridiculous amount of security. I give my dog all the treats, scraps, and dietary requirements they could ever dream of (which may be why they're apparently dreaming of me). I give them love, understanding, and teach them without using fear or pain to do so. Wild canids suffer the elements, parasites, hierarchical violence and the suffering keeping one's high rank or surviving at the bottom entails. Many die from horrific illnesses, starvation, dehydration, or injuries sustained in hunts and occasional interactions with other predators. The list goes on... I don't know what you've done to your dog to make you think you don't deserve it, but that's just a bizarre sentiment. Friends have each other's backs after all. Otherwise, they'd be Man's-Best-Servants. Ya?

I'll always be." I always assumed she was dreaming of a day when my family and I weren't there. It terrified me, just to think of a world without my floof.
wow... I'm not surprised that they have ability to do that... Curious to know what else they dream about... perhaps food;-)
But there is a question, what are the cats dreaming about? :D how they rule the world?
A lot of idiot people...Maaaann... Is it only idiot or is it necessary to get more "likes"?
We don't need this to prove to us that animals especially dogs are amazing and really should rule the world
Thumbless fools that they are, I can't agree with this ;)
Load More Replies...And I often dream about my dog. I don't see him giving two sh*ts about it. Wtf, people?
I can not understand why all these tears. before they were not so lovable? or were not as tender? or equally well you wanted not before discovering that dream to you? I always wished that my animals to dream good things, like a good hearty meal, a nice run in a meadow, or what for them was the best thing that could be desired. if we dream it, I'm happy, but not burst into tears, basically qualinque what they dream about are exactly the same as during the day maybe made me poop on terrazino or pee on the bathroom rug; that made me purring on the bed before going to sleep (cats) or cuddle while I was in the bathroom this morning (dogs). nothing that changes are for what they dream.
Maybe if people gave their dogs some more adventures, and took them on longer walks, their dogs would have more things to dream about.
Am I the only one who hopes this research is blown out of proportion? I mean ofc they will dream about us often because we spend a lot of time together and are a unit, but, I want her to have dreams without me. Dreams only about the ball or the smell after rain or other dogs etc. They give us friendship, service and sometimes greater sacrifice than most other living beings would/could. It's so much already, it's too much to claim their dreamworld as well.
You, being the source of your dogs best moments, aren't worth dreaming about? The smell of petrichor can't be enjoyed if you're there? Maybe throwing the ball; something a human is required for in order to really enjoy?// I appreciate the sentiment. It's just needed to be given thought. Such as: this isn't really scientific fact, just another half-assed study released to get the researchers noticed and satisfying the requirements for their tenure. Chances are that no dog dreams solely of humans. It's just highly likely we make common appearances is all.
