Mistakes and accidents are unavoidable. They're part of our lives. But don't worry, this isn't an insurance ad. It's a piece on the subreddit ‘That Looked Expensive.’
It's an online community, where people share photos, gifs, and videos of mistakes, accidents, catastrophes, and disasters that cost a small fortune.
We're talking a supercar storage catching fire, children knocking over a $70K sculpture, and many more hilarious, er, I mean, costly mishaps. Continue scrolling to check them out and take a look at Bored Panda's earlier article on the subreddit after you're done, too!

Agree completely, but why was it not better protected from such an occurrence? We all know it's going to happen
Load More Replies...definitely. What kind of parent allows their kids to play chase in a museum? I get that some kids don't listen but if you can't manage your kid's behavior don't take them to a bloody museum.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Control your children, people. FFS.
put your children on a leash or something if you can't control them. What kind of dumb parents let their children have a chase in a MUSEUM?!?! I hope the parents got charged for it
Okay, those kids shouldn't have been allowed to treat the museum like a damn playground, but really, that thing should have been in a glass case to begin with. It was an accident waiting to happen. EDIT: On closer inspection it looks like it WAS in a glass case. I'm surprised it was that easy to tip over, then.
All right, says here it was indeed in a glass case and the kids bashed into it. https://news.artnet.com/art-world/children-arribas-brothers-disney-castle-1896998
Load More Replies...In my humble opinion, which of course is never humble. It should’ve been put in a safer place I mean what Disneyland if not hundreds of thousands of kids running around in a sugar filled frenzy
This would be another example of parents & kids being held responsible for their actions. They broke it, they pay for it.
Bet the parents even tried to blame it one the museum or threatened with action because poor little Timmy hurt his finger when crashing into it
And every one objects to having kids on a harness! Wonder if parents had to pay?
WHY let children behave that way?! People should be kicked out of exhibits as soon as they start behaving like that.
How did they get past the glass box surrounding the sculpture? That's some cat-burglar skills the children have.
If your kid starts getting wild, energetic, & disobedient in a room full of extremely expensive artwork, you tell them to knock it off or leave. You don't just let them play chase. It's the parents' fault for not controlling the situation before something broke, & it's the parents' fault for not teaching them that museums aren't a playground in the first place. Hell, if the kid has a tendency to misbehave like this, it's the parents' fault for bringing them to a museum in the first place.

The lesson to take away here; if you buy a McLaren, take a course on how to handle it correctly...
The lesson is that you don't buy a McLaren because even when you know ow to handle it, someone else will crash into it. Or when you store it safe the whole place will burn down. So you see the McLaren, you don't buy and just walk away and buy yourself a bloody Kia for 1% of the price of a McLaren

Events like this are the reason all languages have profanity. Sometimes you are totally justified in cussing a blue streak!
What I've learned is never buy a McLaren and having a fancy car basically means it's going to start on fire or get me into an accident. I'll stick with my Honda, thank you very much!

#7...those straight-line Iowa winds. tore the roof off a building I worked in and didn't have to work for a week because of it. best part was that I got paid. the early 00's were great for that kind of thing with a very large company. that was also the straight-line winds that sent a silo roof flying a mile and landed on a car. it wasn't totaled though just took off the back bumper. it was an almost perfect landing.
I'm sorry for mother nature and sorry for the people who lost loved ones. This was so depressing to see but like a car accident I couldn't stop watching. I'm embarrassed about myself.

The type of person that has the money and would want a McLaren/Lambo/Ferrari is also the type of person to drive it like an asshole and not care about the cost of destroying it.
None of this even comes close to the most expensive accident in history, the Chernobyl reactor meltdown. Nor the most expensive conflict in history, World War II. Though these are at least possible to laugh about, as opposed to being wide-scale tragedies highlighting the failure of humanity as a species...
World Wars aren't small failures with relatively big impacts. Their dynamics are immense and hardly start at one specific point in time. They are huge mistakes with huge impacts. Chernobyl was enormous and also not just one person making one mistake. There were structural problems in understanding what the huck they were doing. This list is mostly about stupid small mistakes that end up with a big price tag.
