People Rescue ‘Exotic’ Bird That Couldn’t Fly, Turns Out It’s A Seagull Covered In Curry
Recently, a Wildlife Hospital in the U.K. had an especially flamboyant-looking ‘patient’. Some good people saw the poor bright orange bird on the side of the road that was unable to fly. The kind people were worried about the orange, tropical-looking bird’s wellbeing so they took it to the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital to make sure it was okay. Turns out, the bird was neither tropical nor exotic – just a curious seagull that somehow got himself all covered in curry.

“This is one of the strangest casualty circumstances we have seen in a while!”

“This bright-orange herring gull was rescued by kind members of the public who spotted him at the side of the A41. When they called to say they had picked up an orange bird, we had no idea what to expect – and would never have guessed at this,” Tiggywinkles Wildlife hospital recently posted on their Facebook page.
“He had somehow gotten himself covered in curry or turmeric”

Apparently, as the veterinarians further revealed, the curry was all over the poor bird’s feathers, which prevented him from flying properly. “We have no idea how he got into this predicament but thankfully, apart from the vibrant colour and pungent smell, he was healthy,” they added.

“Our veterinary team bravely bathed the gull (now named Vinny after a Vindaloo curry) to clean off his feathers. He managed to cover them in curry water but eventually did let us scrub him clean.” Vinny really does look great, despite looking mildly annoyed over being bathed.
“He is now looking much better and should be able to go for release very soon”

“As we say, we never know what will come through our doors next! Huge thanks to the lovely finders who stopped to rescue him,” Tiggywinkles Wildlife hospital added. All in all, we’re glad that Vinny is okay and hopefully, he won’t get himself into curry anymore.
Here’s what people had to say about Vinnie’s misfortune

Share on FacebookI hope I come back as an animal just so I can go to the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, lol. That is THE best name. Don't ever change, Brits!
Most people season their meat after it’s processed, not while it’s still alive.
Only to find out after washing the bird, it was thier IT guy, Seagull Subramaniyam!
We all wonder how it happened, I find it difficult to believe it was accidental, it could have been badass people, therefore I think of karma !!!
SMH. Here we go again. Repeat after me Curry is not Turmeric. A curry spice blend may contain turmeric but by itself Turmeric is not curry.
All the people saying 'beautiful bird' make me want to gag; it's a f*cking seagul- they are filthy, disease ridden flying sh*t factories.
Name a hospital for non-human animals after a Beatrix Potter character?...priceless!
Oh so when I’m unable to move myself properly and covered in curry on the street I’m just “drunk”?
I kinda feel sorry for the gull but.......... He is a seagull. He probably saw a chance to steal some curry powder and couldn't resist.
“Vinny” is named after a Vindaloo curry?! Have to agree with one commenting on the Name for this “Curried” Seagull ...... LOL-ing
Lol-ing? Now im confused. Laughing only have two more letters. It takes the same amount of time to write laughing well as "lol-ing"
Load More Replies...I don't think I've ever seen an animal less impressed to be in the tub.
I am from Florida and sometimes see these birds in blue or pink when someone managed to catch one and spray it down with temporary hair coloring. This one seems to have been way to curious or needy and got himself into the curry powder all by himself. Or he was being a pest and someone doused him with it.
