The SoMeThInG can be "Please leave me the eff alone." It's stupid to give someone disrespect as a birthday "gift". I worked in a place where a departing employee was pretty much hounded to attend a big going-away lunch. I never told colleagues when I left, beyond telling a low-key person on another team that I was now working "on-call".

And an evil, belligerently incompetent government pouring gasoline on ALL of it!! : D

Disagree. In 1988 I was 20, working a full time minimum wage job. I could afford rent on a small apartment, food, and bills. My son is now 20, working at slightly above minimum wage, full time, and can't even begin to afford those things. The price of everything has gotten out of control, while wages have stagnated. Our government (US) shows no sign of changing things for the better....in fact, quite the opposite. This situation is far, FAR more complex than some nebulous "lack of responsibility".

I'm spending almost as much a week on food as I used to in a month in 2019. This time last year water was being cut off at 10pm because reservoirs were so low in my area. People are fully capable of understanding inflation and climate change. Many of my young students are aware of it: their parents are having to work so much that I have several students who are at school in classes, breakfast clubs, lunch clubs, and afternoon clubs for 12 or 13 hours a day while they're in primary school, then they have private classes after. Children and adults are stressed, overwhelmed, and losing hope

I don't go there often but I definitely won't go there now. Their coffee sucks anyways.

The Trump administration is actively involved in his prosecution, to make sure he gets the death penalty. They have to k**l anyone who stands up to the rich and powerful.

I find that to be true for stock corporations in general. The idea of insurances is sound, but once a company (whether they make shoes, sell insurances, or produce furniture) goes public their objective changes to *making money*. Quality gets worse (QC *takes* time and money and the sooner stuff breaks the sooner people need to buy more), people get fired and the rest is overworked, and for a season or five balances look fantastic - until the new policies catch up with reality. People get sick more often, refuse to put in more work for the same or even less money (DUH), sales take a nose-dive because of quality loss and *more* people get fired for "not pulling their weight".Externals are hired to figure out what the problem is (when 3 out of 4 veteran workers could have told manglement for free) and even IF the fingers get pointed in the right direction it's still cheaper to hire YET MORE externals than raise pay and hire more workers.

Or here is a novel idea… neither family should get a bill during the death or life saving donor of a loved one.

Nope. Public health care should. And the costs for keeping the recipients alive up until that point as well. I struggle to see ho society benefits from driving people into bankruptcy or just let them díe from lack of money. I find social welfare far more beneficial to society than economic welfare - and comparing the flourishing stock market to the average (US) citizen's cost of living plus the rapidly rising numbers of homeless and overworked people seem to point in that direction, too.

Leave making money to the professionals. Corporations are so much more trustworthy. /S

In most civilized countries, health insurance premiums and deductibles are not a thing. Try your calculations again. And if the US spent a quarter of its military budget on health care, everybody would be able to get treatment and not worry about the cost

This is only ever said by people who don't know how progressive tax brackets work. My salary is £67000 per year and even though I am in the higher tax bracket I still only pay 23% of my wages in tax as only a small amount of my salary is in that higher tax bracket.

I live in one of those socialist countries. I pay 11% of my annual income in taxes. Granted, l'm on a low tax bracket because I don't earn much, but even in the highest tax bracket you pay 45%. And 55% of a lot of money is still a lot of money. With no healthcare expenses added to either of us.

Absolute rubbish. I live in one of those countries and I usually paid between 25% and 30%, depending on how much overtime I did. But only a very small part of that was for healthcare

I live in eastern europe, I work full time job, so by law I am an employee and deduction from my salary for healthcare is abou 5%. On the other side tho, healthcare maybe free but some hospitals looks like from horror movies. Also, private healthcare facilities are usually nicer and you will get an appointment way quicker, but you have to pay for that :D

We will never have universal Healthcare in the US. Too many people are making too much money. I wish it weren't true.
