This revealing photo-series compares models wearing Victoria’s Secret swimsuits and everyday women working for BuzzFeed. The shoot took place on a beach in Malibu where each woman tried to re-create the pose and look of the original Victoria’s Secret shot. Although there was ample opportunity to feel self-conscious, the experience yielded some insightful commentary.
One woman reflected, “I think everyone should get photographed on the beach in a bathing suit at some point in their life…it is a really fun experience that kind of helps you to get over any insecurities.” Another shared a similar sentiment: ”We may not all be models, but the world is a runway for ALL of us.”

Kristin
“It’s really hard to be objective about your own body — so when someone says something nice about you, you should believe them”
Nina
“Don’t compare yourself to the model. Very few of us are the model”
Sheridan
“You don’t have to look like Behati to wear a swimsuit. Do what makes you happy and you’ll be OK in the end”
Lara
“We may not all be models, but the world is a runway for ALL of us”
Allison
“I think everyone should get photographed on the beach in a bathing suit at some point in their life… it is a really fun experience that kind of helps you to get over any insecurities”
Kirsten
“Having airbrushed skin and zero fat doesn’t make you beautiful, having confidence and radiating that confidence makes you beautiful — ‘flaws’ and all”

Share on FacebookThe normal women wearinh these suits are rocking them. In most cases liik better than the "model that VSused. You women are beautiful!
I agree, Christy! They actually look truly gorgeous, a lot better than I would wearing them!! And it's not about making myself feel better about my body, it's about knowing that those photographs haven't been airbrushed and still look amazing.
Load More Replies...I loved it! I think they look beautiful with those swimsuits. Thanks for showing the rest of us that we are not the model, but we can look and feel as beautiful and sexy. Keep it up girls!
My fav is Alison. Because shes most like me. Its nice to see an article about 'every day women' that includes 'athletic slim build' for a change rather than what the world deems as 'curvy'
I'll give you slim, but let's not get ahead of ourselves with the athletic part.
Load More Replies...Yeah, and the reason is flawed, because those models are the 1% of women...The rest of us find it unappealing and is the main and top reason why every single woman alive has a body image shaming issue!!
Load More Replies...even though the normal girls seem to be doing the same pose as the model, in fact they are not posing the same as the models. I'm a x model and trained dancer I can easily spot the differences, and those differences make a BIG difference in the finished photo. All those "normal" girls could look much hotter with adjustments to how there posing, plus lighting and make up. A few of those women could easily look like Victoria secrets models, and the others could easily be hot normal or plus size models. I wish I could have been at the photo shoot. This article could have another layer to it, by showing the same photo's, plus the same girls made up and posing exactly like real models pose. (which can sometimes be uncomfortable)
People are so negative it makes an "attractive" person ugly. You go girls confidence is everything
I think the shots of the real girls actually looked way prettier and less plasticy in a lot of areas. I really don't understand why we feel the need to retouch photos so heavily..... It actually makes me want to try on the suits more when I see what they look like on someone closer to my body type.
In all honesty i think they all look beautiful in those costumes.
I wish all models represented the normal, average woman and not some insanely thin and almost impossible to obtain "ideal".
I really love it! This makes me feel a lot better about myself too! If I could choose between a catalog with (photoshopped) models with the "perfect" body or one with well... models that are not "perfect" and not photoshopped either. I would choose fot the second one! That's a lot more fair for everybody.
I think that SEVERAL of these girls look BETTER in the swimsuits than the models (because they aren't skin & bones) :D Especially Allison - but Lara & Nina as well.
These "normal" women look a lot better in the .gif than the side by side's. Confidence and character are attractive.
Everyone should just try and be their best-self, take care of your body/skin/diet.... that's what matters. Should you be happy with yourself.. of course! Should you be happy with youself while failing to achieve your personal goals and dreams.... hard to see how that's possible. Improve yourself each day, these comparisons are pointless.
I wouldn't say it is pointless. I also wouldn't assume they are failing to achieve they're goals and dreams just because they don't look like the models. For most women it isnt even an option since there are several body types that couldn't possibly achieve the model-standards. Does that mean they are not-motivated to improve themselves or unhealthy or given up up on themselves physically? Not at all. Fat or thin, tall or short EVERYONE should be able to wear a swin suit happily. Believe it or not model are not truly the picture of health nor the norm. Also swimming burn lots of calories! So hooray for happy girls in swim suits!
Load More Replies...Works very well for Victoria's Secret...the normal women look gorgeous
In another way of thinking - the original models represent the 'fantasy' that some of us aspire to.
I just looked at some comments and I agree! They are not slim but true blue how the normal, regular gals look on the US. Loved it!! I hope these girls doore and I ridj VS would go into. Larger size as some XLs just are kinda small!!
I think this is great and a wonderful message to women everywhere. However, I do not think we should promote obesity. I think promoting a healthy body form regardless if that's skinny or just average. But, some of this women are not at a healthy weight. Obesity is a growing problem as well so why send a message saying that it's okay when it's not.
Lol at people thinking the models are photo shopped i know for a fact they are not, it is just good lighting and a strong camera lens... this post has done noting but make smaller skinny women seem less attractive ...some of you women are so shameless and disgusting! Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo and other Victoria's Secret models should not feel guilty for girls attempting to emulate or be inspired. Do not blame models or society for your bad parenting or lack off parenting so your daughter or son has the need to try find beauty in themselves! when you as a parent should be reminding them they are beautiful everyday ugh.. the human race flaws me ..how about supporting each other instead of body bashing
How do you know that for a fact? The model compared with Alison has clearly been photoshopped. She has no individual vertebrae, just a smooth crevice, that is achieved by photoshop. She also has no buttcheek lines, even models have buttcheeks, you can't have a rounded butt like she does without having the creases at the bottom of the butt. Allison is skinnier than the model in the photo and she has them. Her shoulder blades are also smoothed out. Women who are that slim have prominent shoulder blades, that is a matter of bone, you can't loose bone by working out hard. Her skintone has also been smoothed out by photoshop, you can see that she does have one mole on her right upper back, but it is hazy, moles in real life are not blurry. There are a few other things I could point out just on that picture, but hopefully I've made my point. This article is OBVIOUSLY not skinny shaming as at least 3 of the "regular" women are fairly skinny themselves, the same size as the models.
Load More Replies...I'm sure if you photoshopped the real women, you could attain a similar look. It's sad when everything is photoshopped and we take it as a standard. The real women look great!
You don't photoshop 20 kg of overweight ;_; You can photoshop some contures or skin color but if someone is fat it's not so easy to photoshop it. Sorry for my indignation but I really try to understand american ppl. Why everybody are looking at fat ppl and says: "oh yes it's so f*****g NATURAL" I really don't get it ;_;

Im a guy and I personally think some of those bathing suits are awkward to wear even for the models. With a little help ( lights, fans, posing coaches and better weather) I think these girls are much closer to looking like the models than they think.
All those who want to say this is beautiful, no! It's not beautiful to disrespect your own body then make other people look at the evidence of that. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to wear a bathing suit on the beach but it does mean that relatively speaking, no "everything" is not beautiful. That would destroy the meaning of the word. Just as there is love and hate, happy and sad, cold and hot, there is beautiful and (insert your politically correct nonsense here instead of saying ugly). It is very likely that there are many ugly traits about the personalities of real bikini models, which are beautiful traits in these women, and some day most of the bikini models will lose their charm but still have their b1tchy attitude, while these women will become better with age, but call it what it is. Their strong suit and source of beauty is most definitely NOT wearing a bikini you loony politically correct zombies lol. This is fact, is why bikini models don't look like that
Yeah, they rock...but I can't say I don't like the models too, I just can't do it! :)
Business is trying to sell the most bathing suits possible. They do so by choosing the best of the best body type out there to sell that particular product. These Victoria secret models worked their asses off by eating healthy and exercising, to get to the point where they can be models for VS. it is called Body Sculpting. It's hard work. yeah it's not your average body type but it's not as if these women sat around eating donuts all day. No, these VS models look really toned. You can tell that they hit the gym on a regular. That's why they got hired to be VS models. It sells the bathing suits the best.
Oh, come on. The women chosen to model these suits are chosen because they are damned near physically perfect. If a girl is not near physically perfect, why would she even be foolish enough to put them on? Not every piece of clothing is going to suit every body type. Dress what you have, not what you wish you had.
Refreshing to see a voice of reason in these parts for a change.
Load More Replies...I don't get it. Was this supposed to be an attack on models and swimwear? Cause these "regular" people are still pretty hot in the suits. The only difference is that they're not photoshopped.
Gorgeous. Nothing more beautiful than a woman comfortable in her own skin and able to be herself. I think the natural woman here look better, as they look real. They are performing this imitation, but they are doing it while being themselves. The Victoria's Secret models seem to look like women who are hoping that they fit some ideal, instead of just being themselves. I think that is where beauty truly lies, in acceptance of yourself. It doesn't matter if a a girl is fat or skinny, tall or short, dark or fair, straight haired or frizzy, or anything in between. What matters is that she knows who she is, and she's confident and proud of who she is. And the same goes for men too! Confidence, self-acceptance, and pride make all the difference, no matter who you are.
I think the fashion industry has harmed "normal" women's attitude about their bodies. We're all different and we should bask in the difference instead of trying to be like someone else anyway. I liked this article immensely.
um, what? I was distracted....oh, the swimsuit, yeah, um... *drooooool*
Al of these ladies look great in these suits. Victoria secret should take this as a compliment because they made suits that look good on a variety of body types. This post made me happy :)
Yeah! Pretty swimsuits worn by REAL girls. You don't have to be skin and bones thin to look good in a swimsuit or anything. Congrats to these sexy ladies!
I agree they are gorgeous and I jope VS will hsve larger sizes soon. I love their stuff but limited!
They are all beautiful! The one feature that stands out the most to me on first look is Kristen's gorgeous hair! She not only could model swimsuits (or most anything else), she could do a hair care shot! Also pretty smile in the gif. Girl, you rock!
I prefer the real women instead of air brushed stick thin women, we are normal and models aren't, they need to eat!
The international center for obesity advertisement! I believe men and women should take care of their bodies and health. All the numbers show the negative effect of extra weight on health and it should not be ignored. Why some people have started advertisement for being fat?! Take care of what you eat and stay healthy by excising.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying women with extra weight are not sexy or beautiful. I think everyone is beautiful no matter what. Being too thin and hard diets are not healthy either (e.g. what models do!). I'm saying advertising for ignorance to extra weight is a wrong way of dealing with this problem.
Load More Replies...Lara, Allison and Ninas' bodies look just like the models' bodies in these costumes , rest should take care more about their line they'd look as good as girls from original photo.
Yeah the normal girls aren't photo-shopped like crazy either. They look great.
so, all those ladies saying that these normal (...) women are better than models would like to be like these normal women rather than like the models? Really? ahahahha! Please.
no what they're saying is that they should feel fine no matter what they're wearing or what they look like... and that society is messed up and making woman hate themselves because the can't look like a model makes for alot of self esteem issues ... the models are beautiful and so are the other women.. just because you don't think so doesn't mean it's true

Fantastic article and lovely to see non models wearing the same costumes and looking fabulous! I didn't even know that Victoria Secrets did costumes in larger sizes, so another plus there!
emmm I may be not popular with this opinion but if models are fit and perfect to show these and then some fatty wore same thing it never be so good loking as in the first case >..< To look good in these clothes you just have to eat less & spend more time on workout IT'S NOT SO HARD TO DO ^ ^
The more you look at the everyday women the more you see where photoshop was used on the "models". I never understood why they were called models as they only represent what society wants us to think is how women should be and not how women are. They are no models, just an imposed stereotype. The everyday ladies are more beautiful, they are so much more natural.
thenke god its not the same!!! girls you are so preety and beautiful ty for reminding me that wemen are preety in every size {the bigger the better lol}
Seems like the everyday woman is aiming for a heart attack and diabetes. Fat like that is only negative, the girls are fine to me but they´re heading for troubble.
Stress, genetics and bad habits can lead to disease. Not every person that is larger is about to be sick, just like every person that is slim or "fit looking" is healthy. Plus, these are swim suits, which means that some activity is about to take place. You should be happy that ALL the women are out, moving, and having fun. Your viewpoint is limited and without facts to back it up.
