Guy Surveys Americans On Which State They Hate The Most, Puts The Results In A Map
While non-Americans may struggle to understand this, America can get quite different when you travel from one coast to another. Many of the states differ from each other in their religious beliefs, legislative procedures and laws, and most even have some serious cultural contrasts. One thing is clear, they all hate each other. Well, at least according to an unscientific map created by Instagram user mattsurelee. The author of the map, Matt Shirley, decided to map out “Every state’s least favorite state’.

He collected data from surveying his 320,000 Instagram followers who love the relatable diagrams Shirley posts. Taken at face value, the responses revealed which state is the most disliked. While it may come to you as a surprise (or not, if you’re from Oregon or Montana) the most disliked state is Californa.

Shirley’s research showed that 9 states even expressed a dislike towards the Golden State. People of New Jersey didn’t hold back and said that they hate… everyone, while a few states surrounding it said the feeling is mutual. What’s interesting is that only a few states hate Florida, however, the state has enough hate for itself as it is. According to Shirley, 80% of Floridians said they hate Florida the most. No. SC, specifically Charleston, is overrun with Ohio transplants, and it's become a problem. There were already more than enough white people here, but now it's become the fastest gentrifying city in the country. Plus, it's overcrowded and prices have skyrocketed. And worst of all, they're just obnoxious. There's the drunk football fan types that seem to like starting fights with parking meters and vomiting on the sidewalk, and then there's soooooooo many hipster douchebags it's ridiculous. There's nothing like listening to millennial white 20-30somethings opining on gentrification in a city they're literally gentrifying. Andy, yes, both of these groups are overwhelmingly from Ohio. They come down on vacation and end up never leaving. It's like what happened with Portland, Austin, and Asheville.

Apparently, in Minnesota, we hate Wisconsin, but it's not true. It's just a joke. We do feel sorry for them since they are going the way of Russia, Turkey, and China in their standard of living and human rights. It's a tremendously beautiful state (do most Americans know that?) The old joke from my generation was rivalry with Iowa. We don't hate Iowa, either. Hating either one would be like hating your favorite cousin. We don't hate anyone in the US. We're Minnesotans.

It's very typical to hate neighbouring states or countries, especially if they are considered more successful than yours. In Europe, it's often that with neighbouring countries that have some kind of link (similar or same languages), the smaller country hates the bigger country but the bigger country likes the smaller one. It can be analysed as being jealous of the bigger neighbour that gets noticed more than you do.
I will agree until it comes to all the western states hating CA. Californians have invaded all the neighboring States. You talk to any Californian transplant and they all say they couldn't take living in CA anymore, yet try to change local legislation to be like California. They are a pain, trust me, NO ONE wants to be a Californian. NO ONE is jealous of them.

In New Jersey we all wish we could secede from the Union. As the leading "copperhead" state, it has always been that way. People drive through New Jersey from everywhere and mess up the Turnpike and the Parkway, flap their flaps on our beaches and pretend they have culture or education. New Jersey is the most educated state in the USA: we are wise to hate everyone. I'd rather spend an afternoon in my inner city New Jersey yard sipping black tea and munching beef empanadas than suffer a year in any other state.

Most of the Revolutionary war was fought in New Jersey. Tories and patriots ambushing each other. New Jersey hated being in the North during the civil war. All of New England hates Massachusetts. But Mass hates New York. Yet New York agrees with Pennsylvania that the real hate is towards New Jersey. Then top that off with the fact that all of New England also hates New Jersey. I can confirm this because I live in New England. Born and Raised. Now guess why we all hate Massachusetts?

The feeling is mutual NJ, I don't like you too much either. I tried... I lived there for a bit (currently in PA), but it just wasn't for me. Basically the armpit of the nation. I've also lived in both Kansas and Missouri, the shared hate is real on both sides, but we both love our football team dearly.
From WV and I haven't met anyone that hates Virginia. We hate when people call us Western Virginia.

This map is funny. I hate my neighbors because I’m stuck listening to (and smelling) them, every f*****g day. Can’t say I hate any one state in particular. I hate the bible belt, and I am not keen on the conservatism and religious insanity in my own state either. My state is actually fairly beautiful, but the people can make it miserable, and climate change is making our once “temperate” climate into a BIPOLAR climate.
I'm sorry, but this has to be inaccurate - Texas is widely loathed by anyone in bordering states. Loudmouth blowhards who never shut up about how great Texas is (even though everything they cite as great about it is nothing special), and tend toward casual racism in every conversation. I would gladly see the US give Texas back to Mexico, but I don't think they would take it.
Did you flunk history? Texas was an independent country when Texas joined the US. So there would be no giving back as the US did not take Texas from Mexico.

I am from Texas and I can say that none of the other people in Texas I know hate anyone. We all try to get along with each other and not cause any problems. I get that this is supposed to be funny, but this is the reason why people can't get along. Like someone else said, instead of pointing out which state hates other people let's look at who loves others.
Californians are so disgusted with their own State that they are fleeing to neighboring States in droves. The problem is they try to have legislation changed in their new State to make it like CA. Makes ZERO sense. Not only that, but EVERY Californian transplant has to let everyone know in every conversation that they are from "Cali" and constantly compare the area to "Cali". They are the bane of every neighborhood. They also think everyone is jealous of them because they are from "Cali".
You're first sentence doesn't align with the rest of your rant. They move because it's cheaper. They try to make change in their new state because they love how things were in California. Moving was clearly not a matter of being disgusted.
