Couple Gets Married On Mount Everest After Trekking For 3 Weeks, And Their Wedding Photos Are Epic
5Mviews
It’s been said that love can move mountains, but one California couple has proven that it can also climb them. Ashley Schmeider and James Sisson felt that a run-of-the-mill wedding ceremony wasn’t right for them – so they decided to get married on Mount Everest instead. As you can probably guess, their wedding photos are monumentally epic.
32-year-old Ashley and 35-year-old James spent a whole year planning and training for the expedition, and it was no walk in the park when they finally arrived in Nepal in early March. Accompanied by their photographer, Charleton Churchill, it took them the better part of 3 weeks to reach the 17,000-foot-high Base Camp Everest, where they finally said their vows after braving deep snow, freezing temperatures, and altitude sickness together. Churchill’s photos of the unorthodox ceremony show a spectacular blend of rich blue, crisp white, and rugged stone.
Let’s hope this couple’s marriage pulls through harsh conditions as well as they do! Follow their compelling journey and see the fantastic final results below.

Nice pictures. It's a bummer two stupid people photobombed all of them...
lmao that's rude! but I still laughed x'D
Here ya go - we left ourselves out of these...and remained in the copter while aloft. 🙃. https://flickr.com/photos/7925818@N04/sets/72157694375807625
Now THAT''S determination! It's sad to see some of those comments below judging how they planned their own wedding. In fact, it is actually an amazing way to make the relationship stronger, like having confidence in each other, motivate each other. Maybe they also got mad at each other, but hey, that's also what can happen not and then. There are other ways to make it stronger of course, but climbing a mountain together out of their love for each other is still pretty amazing!
That's not on the Everest. That's Everest base camp. Everest is not the mountain seen from the EBC, as you first climb Lhotse. Hiking to EBC in Nepal is neither that hard nor expensive. I did it with couple of regular fit uni students. It only takes long due to the acclimatization.
You are correct but of course that;s just not sexy enough for the headline writers. It's an amazing spot still.
it says in the description that it is base camp
While Mount Everest is 29,9xx feet high, Base Camp is at 17,000 feet - not exactly a cakewalk - and the peak of Everest is at 29,9xx feet at the peak. And no one claimed they climbed to the peak. Dear G-d, can anybody just be happy anymore?
You dont climb Lohste first. You climb Everest to the South Coll, then turn right at Camp IV. You see both from EBC. In fact, tour leaders watch climb teams on Everest from EBC. And the are ON Everest Massif, so yes, they are "on" Mt Everest.
uh, I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that very few people on this blue marble have invested the intellectual, sweat and emotional energies to successfully climb to 17,000 feet - over halfway “up Mt. Everest”, let alone looked fit, happy, radiant, accomplished and...in love. Let a few readers dream and visualize this unique moment, though we both apparently have made it at least to base camp, eh?
Luckily you are here to tell the truth... (that is sarcasm)
Well I'm glad at least someone pointed out the truth. I mean getting your photos done at the base of Mt Everest, is a hell of a lot different than getting your photos done on top of Mt Everest.....after u and ur fiancé supposedly climbed it no less.
