Couple Gets Married On Mount Everest After Trekking For 3 Weeks, And Their Wedding Photos Are Epic
It’s been said that love can move mountains, but one California couple has proven that it can also climb them. Ashley Schmeider and James Sisson felt that a run-of-the-mill wedding ceremony wasn’t right for them – so they decided to get married on Mount Everest instead. As you can probably guess, their wedding photos are monumentally epic.
32-year-old Ashley and 35-year-old James spent a whole year planning and training for the expedition, and it was no walk in the park when they finally arrived in Nepal in early March. Accompanied by their photographer, Charleton Churchill, it took them the better part of 3 weeks to reach the 17,000-foot-high Base Camp Everest, where they finally said their vows after braving deep snow, freezing temperatures, and altitude sickness together. Churchill’s photos of the unorthodox ceremony show a spectacular blend of rich blue, crisp white, and rugged stone.
Let’s hope this couple’s marriage pulls through harsh conditions as well as they do! Follow their compelling journey and see the fantastic final results below.

Now THAT''S determination! It's sad to see some of those comments below judging how they planned their own wedding. In fact, it is actually an amazing way to make the relationship stronger, like having confidence in each other, motivate each other. Maybe they also got mad at each other, but hey, that's also what can happen not and then. There are other ways to make it stronger of course, but climbing a mountain together out of their love for each other is still pretty amazing!
That's not on the Everest. That's Everest base camp. Everest is not the mountain seen from the EBC, as you first climb Lhotse. Hiking to EBC in Nepal is neither that hard nor expensive. I did it with couple of regular fit uni students. It only takes long due to the acclimatization.
You are correct but of course that;s just not sexy enough for the headline writers. It's an amazing spot still.

Why are articles like this intentionally lying or so ignorant or lying about facts? "Couple Gets Married On Mount Everest" This couple was not, based on photos and details released, ever *on* Mt. Everest, as claimed. Base Camp is not on the mountin and in fact you are not on it until well past the ice fall. You cannot even see Mt. Everest from base camp, though it is seen on the ridge walking into EBC before you decend to the camp area. It definitely should not take three weeks to trek there if they start in Lukla or even Jiri.
Picky, picky, picky, Michael. Why are you trying to put down something pretty cool (and I mean that literally) by splitting hairs? It's apparent that they were taking a leisurely trek to EBC and even took a side valley or two for more photo opportunities—isn't that Makalu peaking up in the background of the 6th photo? It even looks like they went at least part way up Kala Pattar.

Load More Replies...This will be a lifetime memory, but, the cost of $35,000 - $45,000 a person wouldn't be worth it to me. A fully custom climb will run over $115,000. There are also over 280 people that have died trying to make the climb; some still frozen in place unable to be retrieved.
He does great work. Charleton is a very incredible person, but super humble. Regardless of where the photos were taken, they are lovely. I would not want to look all that gear, though. I'm all for adventure, but that's a bit much for me. More power to them!
Nice pictures. Now expecting honey moon at K2(2nd Highest Peak)Pakistan . Best of luck the newly wed.
They couldn’t do K2 if they didn’t leave base camp.... not Everest !
Load More Replies...Don't get me wrong, this is soo cool, but the reality of climbing everest is not at all romantic. It's extremely dangerous.
It seems they never were on Everest, just the base camp. Nothing quite dangerous about that hike when it just involves waking for 12-14 days.

Dear Guys where will you be spending on this Holiday in this new year 2018? if you need any kind of help? let us know, we will help you. www.nepalholidaytreksandtours.com
Lucky couple. Besides the fact that there are so many haters on the comment, this is still a sweet love story:)
Not haters at all...simply giving the facts instead of untruth.
Load More Replies...Of course after getting married on Everest anything short of the moon for a honeymoon would just seem lame.
Huh? NOT YOUNG? I realize that the notion of who is young or old is relative to one's own age. Heck, I remember thinking my first partner was an "older" man--he was 26 & I was 20. However, these two are only 32 & 35, which doesn't seem not young to me. When I was that age I felt quite young & was swimming miles every week in training for the Gay Games. It's not as if this couple would need to hike with a walker. I know woman in her mid-50's who has climbed all the way to the top of Mt. Everest proper, twice.

haha that's some incredible wedding photography on the way to Everest Base Camp! https://himalayansteps.com

Not quite the same but we got engaged on top of a 14,000 foot mountain in CO and Keystone Ski area in Summit county Colorado! Still nice! LOL
Yours is much more real than theirs at base camp! Not Everest by a long shot.
Load More Replies...Also adding to the amount of trash around Mt Everest. Good Job!
Is everest not that cold so they can even bare their arms like that? Why did so msny people die out of cold there then, I wonder.
Exactly. The high at base camp in march is 7 degrees.
Load More Replies...Those are certainly amazing pictures. However, I was floored at the hypocrisy of a man who went to all of this effort, trouble and expense for wedding photos wearing a t-shirt that says "Live Simply."
It isn't that expensive to hike there. You don't have to have a guide and the cost would be about $20-30 a day per person as a self-guided trek. The entire trek with a few side trips would take about two weeks. If you just wanted to go to EBC and back it can be done in 10 days without too much stress.
Load More Replies...Climbing Everest together would be worthwhile and epic. They didn't do that. They helicoptered in and faked it. But why the circus to get married? Why the attention seeking in that way? I have no use for these attention seeking types.
They didn't helicopter in. They may have left in a helicopter, but they hiked into to the basecamp to get married. I don't think they were ever on the summit.
