40 Times People Had To Deal With Insane Parents Who Felt More Entitled To Things Than Anyone Else
It’s well known that beggars can’t be choosers. But as you probably already know, the opposite happens too.
In the minds of choosing beggars, they feel more entitled to things than the rest of us. While we stand in lines, they go straight, while we pay for a purchase or service, they think they can get it for free. Don’t ask how come it’s fair, because it’s not!
And there’s a whole corner of Reddit dedicated to sharing such infuriating examples, known as the Choosingbeggars subreddit. This time, we take a look into the cases when parents get desperate for things and try to use their kids to gain things free of charge or with a hefty discount. Scroll down through the posts and let us know your thoughts in the comment section!

So You Hate Kids
No, You Can’t Have My Dog
Whether we like it or not, our parents plant mental and emotional seeds in us. These seeds grow as we do. In some families, they are seeds of love, respect and independence. In other families, it’s fear, guilt, obligation and toxic mentality.
So while it may be hard to wrap your head around why exactly some parents use their kids to get special treatment, this often happens with controlling parents. Controlling parents tend to be anxious, paranoid and possessive. They like taking things into their hands and knowing what’s best for their kids. Sometimes that means they don’t allow their kids to nurture their personalities and forbid them from taking interest in things, like playing guitar or joining a soccer team at school.

Susan Petang from The Quiet Zone Coaching, a certified life coach, told Bored Panda that hobbies give us a release from the responsibilities we all have. “They allow us to blow off steam, grow our curiosity and intellect, and can even lead to career paths that will be joyful instead of monotonous.” Her advice to parents is to encourage their children's hobbies because the lesson that hobbies teach us is one of self-care.

Susan also explained that as our children grow, they slowly start to separate from us. For controlling parents, this may be a particularly challenging time. “From the 'Terrible Twos' to the pains of adolescence, the purpose of the journey is to teach our kids how to be independent, happy, and healthy adults who give something to the world around them.”
However, the life coach warns that if you're making all the decisions for your children, they're not learning how to make decisions for themselves. “You're not going to be around forever to advise and guide them; they have to learn to do it alone.”

Kristen Brown, a spiritual and empowerment author, life coach and mentor, argues that “it is imperative to set appropriate boundaries with those who are draining our energy, disrespecting our lines, minimizing our value or attempting to control all aspects of our lives - even when it's our parents.” No wonder that kids, after growing up with toxic families, choose to emotionally detach from them as they get older.

Moreover, pathologies of families are carried through the generations until someone (and it's probably you) decides, "It ends here!!", Kristen argues. “Somewhere in the midst of your dysfunctional family, you knew in your soul this is not right and it desperately needs to change.” This is what she calls a pioneer spirit which drives us to speak up. “You may be the first and only one who ever speaks up. Give My Son A Marker, But Not A Girl Color
I wonder if he'll learn to hate his mother too...

That's also why there's no purple on any world flag! Fun fact.

Load More Replies...This has nothing to do with the post: I remember my teacher giving me a white, grey, and brown crayon to color my Christmas Tree craft when I was in third grade. The craft was supposed to be a gift to our mothers. I still have the artwork. I remember watching her pick the colors for each of us out of a box. When she rolled three crayons towards me, grey, brown, and white, all the little kids looked sad for me, as if I was the unchosen one. Joke's on her, because my mama loved that bleak tree!
Purple is the color of royalty! I hope this boy does grow up to be a cis gendered heterosexual, because if he doesn't, he's going to have a parent or two that hate him. Hell, I bet if the boy wears a pink dress shirt to an interview, his parents would flip out on him.
I don't because the poor child will likely be shunned and ruthlessly bullied by their parents. I just hope that this horrible, spiteful woman gets what's coming for her.

Not even all four year olds. Name a single sane person that doesn't f*****g love unicorns.
Load More Replies...If your son isn't concerned about his gender identity, why is he having a tantrum over purple? Sounds as if the kid and the parents are wildly insecure about "gender identity" if a purple marker is a trigger. Can't wait to see how the kid turns out. Getting a head start on toxic masculinity
Huh? Purple is for girls? Then explain why male royalry wears purple
Ew. People like this are why there are so many closeted trans or non binary kids. Not to mention, it just makes the kids pure a.ssholes if they inherit the parent's ideas. What the fu.ck is wrong with girl colors? I played with motherf.ucking dolls when I was little. I mean- I was an egg, but STILL!
That poor child doesn't stand a chance. He will grow up + sexually assault a girl, then claim "she wanted it," it "was consensual," or he "didn't know it was rape." His future is bleak. All because of that shitshow of a mother of his.
Aside from the sheer bigotry, that person comes across as totally unhinged. They keep on repeating themselves, write in all caps, and throw in random ellipses and other punctuation for no rhyme or reason. Perhaps they're having a stroke, which would be a first "PARENT SUFFERS STROKE AFTER HEARING THAT THEIR MALE PROGENY WAS OFFERED PURPLE MARKER IN SCHOOL. Doctors think that there may be brain damage, but the family states that the person has always been like that".
Yeah, I can't read this, but I'll assume that person was garbage.
Omg guys I did my 6th grade art project in green orange and yellow, and not pink/purple, that must be why I'm non-binary. How could I not have realized this earlier???
Hold on... My favourite colors are purple and blue...
So i can't like blue!? Hey mom we have to get rid of most of my clothes, blue is for boys🙄
Aha, now we know why women are getting uppity and escaping from the kitchen - it's because they've been wearing blue jeans since the 60s!
Load More Replies...But... purple looks closer to blue then pink lol, and according to her, wouldn't blue be a boy color?
Since when is purple not suitable for boys? It's made from blue and red! 2 colors that boys have taken over for a loooong time
Many years ago, my Kindergarten class and the 1st grade class next door to me did PE together. One 1st grade boy definitely had a "girls aren't as good as boys" attitude that irritated his teacher and me no end. One day we got out the Nerf footballs, and my colleague mentioned that he was being particularly nasty toward girls that day. Did I have a girl that I could pair him with who could teach him a lesson? I did indeed. He got pissy about having a girl for a partner, but I told him to hush, and to stand some distance away. Then I told her that we wanted her to show him girls COULD play, and to throw that ball as far and as hard as she could. She hit him dead in the chest with a beautiful spiral pass. Shut him up but good. One of my proudest moments. She still remembers it too, and she's in high school now. (And is a damn good softball catcher, she'll make a name for herself!)
My son is very clearly a boy, too. A cis, straight boy (not that it matters, or would matter, either way). He's 13. His favorite color is purple. It's his dad's (my husband's) favorite corn, too. And I think that's just fine.
I'm on the fence about this one. I mean using colors for a picture be it purple or blue shouldn't matter. But i mean if the kid decided he didn't want purple then the teacher should have just given him a color he liked..i don't think gender would have anything to do with it. on the other hand purple is a neutral color and the mom needs to take a nap.
Oy! I like purple and I’m a dude. Why do people have to be so damn weird!
Who is going to tell her that gendered colors were literally made up by retailers. They were also originally pink for boy, blue for girl...
Maybe s/he needs to consult some portraits. Last I checked, purple was once a color reserved for royalty. Don’t recall many Kings refusing to wear it. (Of course, when my father was a baby, pink was reserved for boys, probably as the diminutive of red. Blue was for girls.)
I think home schooling is in your son’s future…. To spare any other teachers from having their time waisted from a “parent” like you. Boy/girl colors ? Pastel colors for babies started in the mid 1800’s. Pink only became considered a girl’s color in the early 1900’s. Of all the things a parent could take the time to teach. On the other hand I hope the kid stays in school, If only to keep the him from spending time “learning” things from his parents.
Personally, I'm a 34yo straight guy and purple is one of if not my favorite color 😊
This child is going to grow up with so much hate in his heart, it's very sad.
This is so dumb. Assigning arbitrary attributes to gender is so stupid. Everything is on a continuum. I'm cishet and also the most tomboy girl I know. My husband is a much better cook, likes light rock, and has more clothes than I do. I taught him how to play Halo and he taught me how to make dinner. None of it means anything. We are who we are, we like what we like, and we like who we like.
Wow. This is disturbing on so many levels. Really? Colors are now gender identified? So, if the sky is pink when you wake up and you're gender identified as a boy, you can just go back to bed because it's obviously not your day? Hmmm......purple grapes are out of the question. Watermelon.....no way! Far too pink. Unfortunately, there are not enough blue things in the world to sustain a healthy life for long periods of time.
My son's favourite colour was pink for years. He's switched to red as there's less hassle from idiots when he wears red.
My 14 year old son's favorite color is pink. Same for my 7 year old girl. My son is colorblind so he doesn't see all the colors and pink is one of the few he can sorta see
Load More Replies..."he knows what he's been taught" sorry , didn't get that message. Here at school it's taught " you get what you get and you don't pitch a fit" that's for all students. He could have traded with someone, right? My daughter loves yellow, not a color marker that is used in most situtations tho. So did other 'boys' get an option to switch? Yours is jest "special"?
I need a little help here. The guy wrote: "... not to give my son, nor send home with him: [anything] that is of a girls nature" Ok. But do objects actually have natures? Like does my purple dress actually possess something "of a girls nature?" But then again, anything or anyone who actually might have a "girls nature" should probably steer clear of Mr. I have Issues anyhow.
No, this kind of weird gender stereotype is why so many kids are gender confused. You can be a boy and like pink. You can be a girl and like camo. You can be a boy and do ballet. You can be a girl and go hunting or whatever US people think is the manly equivalent of ballet. You can be a male nurse, you can be a female construction worker. You can be a stay at home dad, you can be a CEO mum. If there's so much fuss about why so many kids think they might be trans or non-binary, have a look at the stereotypes they have around them. The stronger and narrower the stereotypes, the more a kid who likes the 'wrong' things is going to be confused about their identity.
Holy Christ. Get him good and rigidly conforming to gender norms. Don’t want him to grow up without that toxic masculinity.
I am a man, There is Nothing wrong with the color purple. It is actually a great color. So how about, teaching your son to appreciate, what he is given... Just remember, "Beggars, Can Not Be Choosers"
What the teacher teaches in the morning, this parent is unteaching in the evening.
I hope his or her child turns out gay and either gender fluid or non-binary
Then he is going to have to deal with the hurt and pain of terrible homophobic parents who hate him. I hope that this young boy can get away from his toxic mother as soon as possible

Bizaar. my sons favorite color is purple and he still knows hes a boy lol and hes straight still. Hmmm color doesnt make the difference. Now im confused lol
If purple IN GENERAL makes one question their entire identity, the problem is MUCH deeper than a marker!
Just WOW. Purple is royal, and pink was originally considered a more masculine color than blue, so male babies wore pink. But sure, neither of those colors are "suitable" for boys.
"and he knows what he's been taught". There's the problem right there!
You and reality don't see each other often, do you? Aaand just so you know, most child molesters are family or close friends, so children understanding proper boundaries is imperitive to them reporting it.
