Many people don’t feel like asking for some more breadsticks or extra sauce no matter how much they’d love that when dining out because for some reason, that doesn’t feel nice.
But others, however, do not just expect to be served extra things like kings and queens of the restaurant empire, but think they can get away without spending a dime.
Welcome to Choosing Beggars: the restaurant edition where customers are so entitled you can see the fumes going through the roof. Where free meals, one-star reviews, and requests to speak to the manager happen daily.
Below we wrapped up the most blood-boiling cases of customers thinking it’s them who should get paid for eating there.

In recent years, an increasing number of customers have been behaving in a way that restaurant staff are calling “entitled.” These customers may demand special treatment, expect free food, or even become aggressive when their requests are not met. This is a growing problem that is leaving many restaurant owners and workers feeling frustrated and discouraged.
One of the main complaints is that entitled customers are expecting more than what is offered by the restaurant. They may demand more food than what is on the menu, or ask to have certain items prepared differently than specified on the menu. This can be especially difficult for smaller restaurants who may not be able to accommodate these requests.

This Japanese Restaurant Will Never Forgive CB’s
In some cases, customers may also become verbally abusive or aggressive when their requests are not met. Restaurant staff are often left feeling powerless and frustrated when dealing with these customers, who may not consider the impact of their actions on the business or the employees.
One way restaurants are dealing with the problem is by introducing policies to ensure customer satisfaction. Many restaurants now have strict policies for customer service and expectations for their staff, such as addressing customer complaints in a timely manner and providing a pleasant dining experience.
Some restaurants have also implemented technology solutions to help manage customer expectations. These include automated ordering systems and customer feedback surveys.

Life Of A Food Delivery Drivery. "Can You Hurry" 5 Minutes After Initial Text
Wow that was hard to read! Green with white writing arrrrrr. But dam Di you want your food cooked or not? Because uncooked is how you'll get it if you cannot wait 40min
Delivery drivers so often just cannot win when it comes to a customer understanding the process of these types of deliveries. I don't ever assume that they are to blame if there is an issue because there is so very little within their control.
I usually give them the benefit of the doubt. The only time I don't is when they refuse to communicate about what the delay is. For example, one time a driver was already in my mobile home park when he inexplicably left my park to go somewhere else. I thought he was having trouble finding me but it just turned out that he was supposed to deliver another order before mine so he wasn't supposed to be in my park yet. But he didn't communicate to me what was going on and all I saw was him driving away on the map. Because he wouldn't respond to my texts with a clear explanation I decided not to tip him when he finally showed up.
Load More Replies...I would’ve canceled the trip. Let him wait for next driver. What an a’se!
So many people don't seem to know how restaurants work, blaming the waiters or delivery people or whoever that have no control over your order. Honestly, I don't even blame the cooks, because I know what a demanding job that is, and in spite of best efforts, mistakes are bound to happen sooner or later. They were already correcting it, but stuff takes what they take to prepare. I think if everyone had to work a food service job at some point, this world would be a better place.
"I didn't expect a tip" -- no greater a lie has ever been told in human history.
Lol, I would have asked for the messed up order, paid for the new one myself, eaten the new one and given her the messed up one
I'd just ask for the messed up food instead in extra wrapping to keep it from getting on the car seat and tip the delivery driver 40 and eat it because it will taste good to me.
Load More Replies...I get maybe looking in the bag, but like, don't be rummaging thru my food though
Thai Place Doesn't Tolerate Your Poor Decisions
But experts say that the issue of entitlement is not something to be solved by businesses, but it comes down to a bigger issue– the popular adage "The customer is always right," which is the quintessential point in American hospitality.
According to Lauren Friel, the owner of Rebel Rebel in Somerville, MA, "It was definitely something that was hammered into me when I first started in this industry." She was told “that not only is the customer always right, but we want to awe and delight them. The idea is that we will bend over backwards for the guest."

Meanwhile, Khushbu Shah, the Restaurant Editor at Food & Wine, argues that “the precise origin of the phrase ‘The customer is always right’ is not known, but its popularization is most commonly attributed to three men: Harry Gordon Selfridge, John Wanamaker, and Marshall Field, all of whom founded popular department stores around the turn of the 20th century.”

The restaurant editor explains: “At the time, ‘caveat emptor,’ which translates to ‘buyer beware,’ was the more common attitude. It placed the onus on the customer to make sure everything was correct—and placed zero responsibility on the company to do right by the customer. The gradual rise of the phrase ‘the customer is always right,’ however, shifted the power balance away from the company and toward the customer.”
According to Shah, this “notion was solidified in the American restaurant space in the mid-1990s, in part due to the release of restaurateur Danny Meyer's industry-shifting book, Setting the Table. Meyer advocates for building a culture of ‘yes’ in the book which quickly spread throughout the industry.”

Load More Replies...I have seen people on social media convincing their "followers" to write bad reviews for businesses they haven't even been to, just because they (the "influencers") had or thought they had, a bad experience. And people rush to cancel businesses without any knowledge of the circumstances or the truth for that matter. This is why I don't trust online reviews.
That and sometimes a locale just has a problem with a restaurant, for no reason. A few years ago, I moved to a new area, and tried a restaurant. Didn't look it up. The food and service were **amazing**! I went online to rave, and the reviews were around 3. Wtf? I read them and most of them were just nonsense. Personal preferences for less spicy, different beans, wanting larger portions, "inauthentic,' and some with just a rating, no review. Absolutely no idea what happened for so many people to be so sour.

Since this issue was vaguely mentioned on one of the posts: Having been both vegan, vegetarian, and a meat eater at one point or another and knowing all three types, I must say that whatever eating-lifestyle you practice is your own business. As a result, if you practice one you should not force your ideals on another, including demanding you must be accommodated for your lifestyle. I intend this for everyone because the relationship between these three personal lifestyle choices is just so negative these days.
I wonder how many (if any at all) of these people look back with a sense of shame now about their over-inflated egos and sense of entitlement now that they're jokes on the internet. It'd be nice if it gave at least some of them a bit of a shake back into reality.
There's a lot of BWE - Big Wimpy Energy - here. You know, the "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today" character from Popeye? Mocked mercilessly for this in the cartoon, right on down to his NAME? It's gotten so bad, though, that nowadays he'd have to say, "I will gladly Yelp you positively for a hamburger today."
