I had been dealing with depression and anxiety for years. But in 2013, it was at its very worst―it was a nightmare. Through therapy, art, and exercise, I slowly got my life back. Lately, I've been drawing comics about my experiences to share what has helped me and to encourage people who are walking the same path I did.

It takes about 2 hours to make one of my comics from start to finish after I've written it. The time just flies by, though!

I find I have there are so many different levels of creating that I need to divide my brain. For example, the brain part that writes the joke isn't the brain part that draws the comic. And the part that writes a longer story is different than the regular writing part. And each part needs a different vibe and a different circumstance. I find I prefer to write comics early in the morning or late at night, and I prefer to draw in the afternoon.

I often have creative block! I have lots of little tricks and techniques that I use to come up with ideas. I experiment, have fun, and in the end remember the goal is just to create. That's my secret. It's not about creating something funny/good/amazing or whatever. It's about just creating something, expressing, and communicating.

I think it's amazing that we live in a world with so much incredible art and entertainment everywhere. What I find tricky is coming up with original jokes. When it comes to a unique style, I think the more of yourself you put into your work, the more unique it will be.

My dream is to make comics for my living! Not just Admiral Wonderboat, but lots of new series! And I'd love to write for other comics and animation! And work in TV and movies! I want to create cartoony stories and characters by the boatload!! It's so exciting just thinking about it!

I like the fact that your bad thoughts are shrinking, wish it was that easy for me. Autism and depression are a bad combination. :(

I love making comics and I hope they can brighten your day, help you smile, and have fun! If I could ask you to do me a favour - try to encourage yourself and someone else today!
