280K Folks On Instagram Can’t Get Enough Of These Colorful Embroideries By Artist Vera Shimunia, And Here Are 30 Of The Best Ones (New Pics)

Vera also calls herself a “fluffy clouds inventor” as some of her embroideries are made with extra threads that give her art volume and puffiness. She likes to share her thoughts with people on Instagram, so she was open about the fact that it wasn’t something people were interested in at first. But now “fluffy clouds” are another mark that makes her art so special.

How did she come up with this idea? It all started with Vera trying to find her own embroidery style. “I don't think plots of the pictures and technique are my strong points. Rather, I really love experimenting with color. A fairly simple plot, such as a flower field or mountains, can be made very catchy simply by choosing the right colors.” Vera looks for color combinations whenever it’s possible. One of these places is a flower shop. She loves to take inspiration from the works of florists and “transfer it to her sphere.” 

Vera is very much drawn to nature: “Nature is the main theme of my art. Nature is beautiful and I am happy to celebrate its beauty and variety in my works. I feel calm and joy when I am in nature and I get inspiration in return, which I try to convey through my work.”

According to the artist, one of her “endless” inspirations is the sky and clouds with all of their colors and shapes. “At some point, I thought about the advantages of threads over paints. Why not experiment with volume? I started looking for materials that can convey the volume of the clouds. The experiment was successful. I used the yarn for hand sewing in the embroidery, and to my surprise, many people liked my clouds. This is my little victory and my contribution to embroidery.”

This great contribution made people want to actually learn embroidery from her. However, Vera wasn’t very enthusiastic about it at first. “I was totally against this for many reasons. For example, I believe that being a teacher for someone is a huge responsibility and a great honor.” She also revealed that now she is thinking of creating a course for those who would like to start embroidery, but she doesn’t want it to be a tutorial-type thing. What she’s wishing for is for it to be “something deeper and more inspiring.” So we can only guess how this artist is going to surprise us in the future.
