Woman Tries To Attack Elon Musk On Twitter, Doesn’t Expect A Response Like This
If you’re going to challenge the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink on Twitter, you had better come with all of your facts straight. A stand-up comedian and published author named Laurie Kilmartin learned that the hard way when she responded to a recent SpaceX Twitter story on Falcon 9 rocket launch by suggesting Elon Musk’s funds be concentrated toward a more ‘noble’ cause than space science. One of the mogul’s followers decided to step in and inject a dose of logic into the conversation, and the exchange that followed left Kilmartin – and everyone watching from home – literally speechless. Probably the best part of this Elon Musk Twiter exchange is that it’s not just some petty bickering, but rather cold hard facts thrown at those, who didn’t bother to actually interest themselves in the cause of space exploration and science. Scroll down to see the initial Elon Musk tweet that caused this thread and the best tweets on Falcon 9 rocket launch that followed it below!
Though Elon Musk is currently celebrating the launch of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, not everyone is happy about it

A Twitter user came forward to challenge the use of his funds…
And the exchange that followed was like a raging fire

No matter what you do in this world, no matter how amazing it is, and no matter what kind of potential it has, there will always be that one special little snowflake to s**t all over you. Humans, never satisfied with anything.
Yep... These same snowflakes that live in gated communities, drive a new Mercedes but somehow claim to be a member of an oppressed class and contribute nothing but criticism.
Load More Replies...I LOVE this. It was quite entertaining for me. I f-ing hate those people who use the inane comments like, "why doesn't he use his money for the homeless veterans (or just insert your sad problem of choice here) instead of using it for x, y,z?" It is the most ridiculous statement. The person making that statement hasn't got a clue if that person HAS given money to homeless veterans (or sad problem of your choice) first of all and they also act as if they know what they money needs to go to better than anyone (but usually don't donate when they DO have money and certainly don't donate their time). Lastly, as the post states, it's not just one at a time so......aaarrrgggh.

I believe I've said this before on other threads but I often work for high profile people who are bashed on the internet and the things people have said about them are soooooo wrong. It kind of pisses me off that people hate others simply because they're rich and/or famous. The idea that someone is to be disliked simply for those reasons are nasty. Let me tell you if you had any clue about many of the people you hate you'd be ashamed of yourselves. (P.S. Obviously if you're not the one who thinks and/or does this type of thing it's not you that I am referring to).

He doesn't have to give money to a food bank just because someone else told him he should. They can donate their own money.
I think we should donate HER to a food bank; cannibals need feeding too...
air conditioning, forced air heating systems? You like them? How about your refrigerator? Get much use out of that? How about your microwave? Got a telephone? Apparently you can use a computer. You think god left those lying around somewhere for you to find?
I thought Musk had sent some communications gear to help in Puerto Rico.
Laurie needs to learn to say, "I surrender", instead of trying to get the last foolish word in.
I've never been one to get into the way people use money in science stuff and rocket and satellite launches but I realise that it can play a huge part towards helping when its explained to me. I'm also aware that an awful lot of these rich people do give to charity but don't necessarily go yelling it out for everyone to hear. She should stay quiet until she understands more than the first sentence and use her spare time while she's doing that to get involved in some charity work. 😇 🤐 💝
Theres always somebody who pee against the wind thinking is smart....
This is rude. It's true that hard sciences help people, but her point is that money is needed to help people right now. She's not wrong. Elon Musk has more money than anyone living today, and he is spending it on far-future technology that he finds personally amusing. A fraction of his billions invested in public health would do a lot of good on earth, right now.
There will be always problems "right now" but if we don't start to think about the future right now our entire species will go extinct like any other

It was entertaining. I like getting people put in their place when they make stupid suppositions.
well, she could say "you can donate to food bank" but not "INSTEAD", it sounds childish, softly speaking. besides, I guess Musk does donate for humanity. Her opponent's plus is that he was convincing without being rude
Without space travel, we would not haver a lot of the materials we have today, we would not have a lot of medicines that we have, we would not know about natural development the same way we do, we would not have some of the means to comnmunicate that we do, and especially so in cases of disaster, hunger and releief coordination in areas where there are no infrastructure or where it has been destroyed. Space travel, has brought so much to the humanity, directly and indirectly. It's not a matter of should we do it, but could we really afford NOT TO go to space, and this is one of the overarching goals of humanity, and one thing does not exclude the other. Give someone a loaf of bread, and he will be fed for the day. Give someone the means to grow seeds, harvest, refine, mill and bake, and they will feed themselves and many others for the rest of their lives. Pitting one thing like space vs donating to a foodbank is utterly shortsighted.
"That wasn't what I asked for" Actually...all of it is. Every last drop of fact and sarcasm; yes, Laurie... you asked for it.

This is the modern version of "For want of a nail...a kingdom was lost" (Wikipedia , dated circa 13th century). He is building the foundation for making sure food is getting where it needs to be. Meaning he is keeping track of the "nails" that will steady the "kingdom"
This is why you shouldn't try to dictate things you don't even understand.
I doubt the lesson here is going to sink in. Instead, her take away will be "people on Twitter don't get it." She doesn't seem to see the connection. My suggestion would be to follow her on twitter, and any time she tweets about spending money on anything frivolous, reply with "looks like an expensive vacation, Laurie. Could you donate to a food bank instead?"

You can't solve hunger, when every child, that is fed, produces 5 new kids when grown up. So stop all production, because there are still hungry People left?
It’s a big problem when education has to adversarial. Laurie, can’t you just say “That makes better sense now. Thanks for explaining.” And Querty, can’t you be a bit more humble when delivering information? Then people can learn something new without feeling patronized and belittled in the process.

Damned if I do, Damned if I don't. So damn it I will. Is there anything that could actually please everyone? Besides the impossible of giving every living human an equally nice pile of money? Maybe it might put a temporary silencer on those that cannot control their control issues. Their OCD self-talk probably goes something like this... "I have to tell everyone else what to spend their money on because I lost ALL my money in Las Vegas on my way to donate it to feed the hungry. " Damn it! NOW i'm hungry! I will go on social media & find someone from a successful company spending money on what I FIND UNFIT &I will lay on a guilt trip they if they don't it will make them look really bad. I would also like to point out that Tesla company donated a buncertainty of power cells to Puerto Rico after it was practically leveled a few months ago. Do you research before you start to ask a CEO of a company to donate anything for the needy because most of them already give away a majority of the profits they take home.

Perhaps she would rather nominate herself and some friends to take the ride instead of Elon's personal Tesla Roadster? The maiden flight of a booster usually does not carry cargo of real value because....
Not that it helps but Laurie is a comedian. I wish she hadnt made herself look so bad. I guess we just expect all successful people to give more than we can but like some of you said, we dont know that hes NOT doing that. I believe the rockets WERE specifically to put up satellites to help Puerto Rico's communication infrastructure problems.
