In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. But now the Supreme Court wants to turn the U.S. into a dystopian hellscape by overturning abortion rights.

According to the initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito that circulated inside the court, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.” The document also stated that “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

The decision, which is expected to go formal in June, will open up the nation’s 31 Republican-controlled states to pass severe or total abortion restrictions. And this did not sit well with people who went into tears watching Elizabeth Warren fuming with anger on Tuesday when she gave her speech.

So they took to the internet to show rage and despair over the American court system that yet again failed its people, especially those at their most vulnerable.

The senator Elizabeth Warren lambasted the Supreme Court after the draft abortion opinion leak, reflecting the fuming anger people are feeling right now

'I am angry, upset and determined,' Massachusetts Democratic senator Elizabeth Warren said in her powerful speech after joining a protest at the Supreme Court on Tuesday

Many people agreed with Warren as they felt rage and despair over the Supreme Court mercilessly failing women and turning the country into a dystopian hellscape

The news did not sit well with people on the internet either, as many took it to social media to share their rage, experiences and thoughts about the court overturning abortion rights

Because these aren't "pro-lifers", they are pro-religion and pro-control. They don't give two shits what happens to the baby after it's born, and certainly not the mother during pregnancy, nor the nearly two decades afterward. I am livid.

I was going to say something similar to this. They don't give a flying rat's a*s about those babies. They give no aid to the women carrying them, they won't buy formula, diapers or clothes for those babies, they won't adopt those babies when they are abandoned, they won't do anything for the kids who end up in foster care, being handed over from "family" to "family" again and again. They won't contribute to education or helping them get a good start in their adult life. Pro-lifers are the scum of the earth

George Carlin put it best --- “They’re not pro-life. You know what they are? They’re anti-woman. Simple as it gets, anti-woman. They don’t like them. They don’t like women. They believe a woman’s primary role is to function as a brood mare for the state.”

Dear Nathan David It is a baby only after it is born. So nobody is murdering babies. As long as it is in the mother's womb it is a foetus. To explain things to simpletons like you, medical professionals use the term "baby" loosely. If you want to know the difference between embryo, foetus & a baby there are plenty of articles available with a simple search.

I appreciate the intention of this, but please can we get away from "if you don't want the baby just give it up for adoption". A pregnancy lasts 9 months. During which you entire body changes, it's exhausting and sometimes risky. It is also life-changing to grow and bear a baby. Don't act like this is a perfectly good solution. If I don't want a baby, I don't want to be forced to breed and bear one.

Yes but you are missing the point. OP is not saying that the alrernative to abortion is adoption. Op is saying that those so called "pro lifers" do not care at all for the women and the fetuses. If they did they would do the things that op mention.

It's not about "saving" babies. It's about controlling women. Today's Republican party is a White Christian Nationalist group, whose entire purpose is to impose their racist and religious policies on all of us. They cannot be successful. I shudder to think about where all this is heading.

Sure, you get raped and be forced to carry to term and then have baby taken and adopted out. As if the first trauma isn't enough add 2 more. And humans are sure not endangered.....you want to adopt these hundreds of thousands of wanted kids?? Go on, refugee camps are full of them.

Imagine the suicide numbers, imagine self attempted abortions, imagine the pain and suffering of 800,000 plus unwanted humans, imagine the orphanages in every city, imagine the jails being built for women who's only option is to backwoods abort, imagine carrying to term a rape child, imagine being raised in the orphanage. The percentage of people looking to adopt is minute, we don't even have enough homes for the children who's parents are working with CPS, and they want to add to that? They want to add to that.

Imagine if people would start taking accountability for their actions or using common sense in terms of preventative measures against getting pregnant in the first place if they don't want or can't financially afford to raise a child. Rape is a tiny fraction of cases of abortion so please stop trying to use that as justification. Cases of rape and medical conditions should be the only reason for an abortion. Not because someone just doesn't want to take responsibility for the decisions they make.

We’re going back to the crime rates and poverty of the 1970s. In a time when other countries, even developing nations, are adopting progressive policies on human rights and female empowerment, the greatest nation in the world is taking a step backwards. Shameful, what people can stoop to to fatten their vote banks.

While I am religious (and don't particularly think abortions are ethical myself), people should be allowed to choose what they can do with their bodies (this does not mean refusing to wear mask for the sake of petty rebellion against the government, though. And science shows that masks help). So, if you want an abortion, then get one. Plus, if it would save your life, then that is 100% enough of a reason to get one.

This issue should fall under a woman's right to privacy in terms of the decisions made concerning anything having to do with her body. What I fear more than anything is that if Roe v Wade is overturned, what will be next on the government's agenda? Gay rights? Interracial marriage? If they can upend this right after FIFTY years, it won't be long before others follow. It's appalling and is setting us back in some strange time warp.

I'm torn. At age 19, I was pressured by my boyfriend of 3 years to have an abortion at 12 and 1/2 weeks. In the clinic parking lot, I was crying and told him I didn't want to do it, I wanted to go home. He told me "if you have a baby, you won't be able to go to college. No one will help you. You'll be on welfare. People your size (very small) can't have babies, you'll die in labor". Needless to say, I put one foot in front of the other and went through with it. I've always regretted it. When I had my daughter years later with my husband (not the same person), I was terrified of dying in labor because of the c**p he told me. No one talks about reproductive coercion. It happens with abortions too.

I'm so sorry you were pressured into doing something you were uncomfortable doing. It sounds like a terrible, traumatic experience. Women being pressured to do the opposite, to be forced to give birth when they can't, or don't want to, is equally traumatic. I hope someday we will live in a world where men will support us in whatever decision we make, rather than try to control it. And that our fellow women will continue to be there for us when we make that decision. I truly hope you are living a happy, healthy life with your current partner. 🙂

There are adoption agencies that offer this, doesn’t matter though because it should still be her choice. Most women bond during pregnancy and they know that isn’t something they could go through with.

I can see both sides of the argument, but some people bring up pretty dumb points to back their argument. It seems to me that the vast majority of abortions are done by women who just don't want the responsibility, which is pretty sad and pathetic. Condoms don't cost much and birth control is $10/mo at WalMart and any doctor will prescribe it. And people need to stop using the rape/incest nonsense. That is such a tiny fraction of abortions and you know it so stop using that for justification. Medical reasons are completely understandable and I'm sure there would be no question in that case, but also a small fraction overall. Financially speaking, if you're not capable then maybe you should make better decisions on prevention if you plan on having sex. People today need to start taking responsibility for their actions and stop taking the easy way out to avoid any responsibility. And I suggest finding someone to use as an example of virtue that hasn't lied about her race for years.

I have offered to adopt friends unwanted babies. I know families wanting to adopt, I have at least a dozen friends who have adopted, usually children and adolescents. Some have adopted from other countries. We do care about the children who are allowed to live. This is another example of media and politicians using an issue to scare and anger people and lying about it. They are Not banning abortion. They are literally doing the Democratic thing and leaving it to the people as it should be. The states that are ok with killing full term babies can do that cause they vote for people that represent them. For people that don't like killing infants they have people represent them. Maybe people should actually read and not let politicians tell you what it means. Even RBG said this should've never been decided by the court. The Court does not make laws the legislative branch makes law so why are senator's and Congress talking about what the court is doing. Calm down and read. They are using you to distract from more important issues like economy etc really nothing changes New York and CA can kill kids this does not effect their laws.

"Killing full term babies...killing infants?! No one's doing that, but nice try on the make-believe fear mongering. These are thinking women here, so that's not gonna work. Also, there are 13 states with trigger laws, which means if Roe V. Wade is overturned, those states with trigger laws will automatically make any abortion completely illegal. So yes, things will significantly change for millions of women. Also, women who live in non-trigger states will be at the mercy of Republican lawmakers should they become the majority in those states, as to whether they retain rights over their bodies in the future.

On May 2nd, POLITICO obtained a leaked initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito that sent shockwaves around the country. The document revealed that the Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. One of the first Laws that Nelson Mandela rescinded when he was President of South Africa was the ban on abortion. This from a man who was in prison for 27 years. I do not live in an easy country - murder, assault, rape, rioting, etc - that law is still in power. Young girls as young age as, 12/13, can be given an abortion without parental permission, as they fear reprisal from the toxic masculinity and feminine, too sometimes. I am disgusted by THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR THIS POSSIBLE OUTCOME AND FOR THE COUNTRY AS THE MOST EDUCATED, GOD-FEARING ENTITIY ON THIS EARTH.

On Tuesday, following POLITICO’s report, President Joe Biden called a woman's right to have an abortion "fundamental.” He urged Congress to pass legislation codifying Roe, which was decided in 1973. Biden stated: “Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned.”

It’s scary that some states will not let you abort if you are a victim of rape/incest. What are they expecting someone in that position to do? Suck it up, give birth and then deal with it on their own?

The fact that these women *need* escorts is outrageous. The whole Roe V. Wade situation is a snapshot of the larger battle of women who have had to constantly fight for simple, basic rights. We should be more advanced than this!

Highest infant mortality rate in the developed world. Huge difference, in South Sudan the rate is over 60 times that of the US.

This is how you know it's not about "innocent lives" and about control.

I guess according to the pro life logic, that baby will be brought to trial as soon as he/she is born.

Religion was created by men to control others. It is the most wicked thing to ever exist. Religion should be outlawed. It has caused more grief, murder and pain than anything else on earth.

Nope - the combined "f**k off", "Not your concern", and "mind your own business" segments should make up 99% of this graph - with the remaining 1% concerning someone else being the doctor having to help make the decision (for medical reasons where the woman wouldn't realise she'd die without it - I had never heard of a septic uterus, for example, so wouldn't be in a position to "choose" abortion unless the doctor advises that were the case)

Yes, Biden needs to step up and do the job he was elected for, not still be telling people they need to vote again to make their feelings known. They already did that and that's why Democrats have the White House, the Senate, and the House right now. He needs to do his damned job, and step up to do the right thing. He needs to kill the filibuster, the electoral college needs to be dissolved, ban corporate political donations, remove lifetime judicial appointments, and every living adult U.S citizen needs to have the right to vote, with no exceptions.

I had a pregnancy terminated because the heart valves were missing on the fetus. It wasn't going to live. I had the nursery all done up and was looking forward to finding out the sex so I could start buying clothes. I was devastated. If I would've carried the baby to term there's a possibility that it could've caused sepsis and I would die. If it didn't I would be giving birth to a dead baby. Now Brett the beer man and Gorsuch seem to think their opinions are more important than women like me and our existence. Fu*k 'em.

I was against many things until one day I realized "hey...that's none of my business. It doesn't affect me at all". Whether or not Sandy down the street gets an abortion has zero impact on my life, but it has a massive impact on Sandy's life, so Sandy should be the only person that gets to decide what to do.
