In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. But now the Supreme Court wants to turn the U.S. into a dystopian hellscape by overturning abortion rights.
According to the initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito that circulated inside the court, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.” The document also stated that “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
The decision, which is expected to go formal in June, will open up the nation’s 31 Republican-controlled states to pass severe or total abortion restrictions. And this did not sit well with people who went into tears watching Elizabeth Warren fuming with anger on Tuesday when she gave her speech.
So they took to the internet to show rage and despair over the American court system that yet again failed its people, especially those at their most vulnerable.

Because these aren't "pro-lifers", they are pro-religion and pro-control. They don't give two shits what happens to the baby after it's born, and certainly not the mother during pregnancy, nor the nearly two decades afterward. I am livid.
I was going to say something similar to this. They don't give a flying rat's a*s about those babies. They give no aid to the women carrying them, they won't buy formula, diapers or clothes for those babies, they won't adopt those babies when they are abandoned, they won't do anything for the kids who end up in foster care, being handed over from "family" to "family" again and again. Dear Nathan David It is a baby only after it is born. So nobody is murdering babies. As long as it is in the mother's womb it is a foetus. To explain things to simpletons like you, medical professionals use the term "baby" loosely. I appreciate the intention of this, but please can we get away from "if you don't want the baby just give it up for adoption". A pregnancy lasts 9 months. During which you entire body changes, it's exhausting and sometimes risky. It is also life-changing to grow and bear a baby. Don't act like this is a perfectly good solution. If I don't want a baby, I don't want to be forced to breed and bear one.

I am pro-life. THEY are anti-woman. Even if they *are* women. I am pro-life b/c I think humans should be allowed to live, safely, even prosperously. THEY think that pregnancy is more sacred than a person's life.

We’re going back to the crime rates and poverty of the 1970s. In a time when other countries, even developing nations, are adopting progressive policies on human rights and female empowerment, the greatest nation in the world is taking a step backwards. Shameful, what people can stoop to to fatten their vote banks.
While I am religious (and don't particularly think abortions are ethical myself), people should be allowed to choose what they can do with their bodies (this does not mean refusing to wear mask for the sake of petty rebellion against the government, though. And science shows that masks help). So, if you want an abortion, then get one. Plus, if it would save your life, then that is 100% enough of a reason to get one.
This issue should fall under a woman's right to privacy in terms of the decisions made concerning anything having to do with her body. What I fear more than anything is that if Roe v Wade is overturned, what will be next on the government's agenda? Gay rights? Interracial marriage? If they can upend this right after FIFTY years, it won't be long before others follow. It's appalling and is setting us back in some strange time warp.

I'm torn. At age 19, I was pressured by my boyfriend of 3 years to have an abortion at 12 and 1/2 weeks. In the clinic parking lot, I was crying and told him I didn't want to do it, I wanted to go home. He told me "if you have a baby, you won't be able to go to college. No one will help you. You'll be on welfare. People your size (very small) can't have babies, you'll die in labor". Needless to say, I put one foot in front of the other and went through with it. I've always regretted it. When I had my daughter years later with my husband (not the same person), I was terrified of dying in labor because of the c**p he told me. No one talks about reproductive coercion. It happens with abortions too.
I'm so sorry you were pressured into doing something you were uncomfortable doing. It sounds like a terrible, traumatic experience. Women being pressured to do the opposite, to be forced to give birth when they can't, or don't want to, is equally traumatic. I hope someday we will live in a world where men will support us in whatever decision we make, rather than try to control it. And that our fellow women will continue to be there for us when we make that decision. I truly hope you are living a happy, healthy life with your current partner. 🙂

There are adoption agencies that offer this, doesn’t matter though because it should still be her choice. Most women bond during pregnancy and they know that isn’t something they could go through with.

This is about righting a very questionable legal ruling that even Ginsberg thought was unsound. This is a decision that belongs with the states, and one hopes that most states will enact laws that are sensible and in line with the wishes of its electorate. And that is democracy. It seems to me that the vast majority of abortions are done by women who just don't want the responsibility, which is pretty sad and pathetic. Condoms don't cost much and birth control is $10/mo at WalMart and any doctor will prescribe it. And people need to stop using the rape/incest nonsense. That is such a tiny fraction of abortions and you know it so stop using that for justification. Medical reasons are completely understandable and I'm sure there would be no question in that case, but also a small fraction overall. Financially speaking, if you're not capable then maybe you should make better decisions on prevention if you plan on having sex. People today need to start taking responsibility for their actions and stop taking the easy way out to avoid any responsibility. And I suggest finding someone to use as an example of virtue that hasn't lied about her race for years.
I have offered to adopt friends unwanted babies. I know families wanting to adopt, I have at least a dozen friends who have adopted, usually children and adolescents. Some have adopted from other countries. We do care about the children who are allowed to live. Saying otherwise is you making up issues so you can justify killing our own children and hate people who have a different opinion than you.

I had a pregnancy terminated because the heart valves were missing on the fetus. It wasn't going to live. I had the nursery all done up and was looking forward to finding out the sex so I could start buying clothes. I was devastated. If I would've carried the baby to term there's a possibility that it could've caused sepsis and I would die. If it didn't I would be giving birth to a dead baby. Now Brett the beer man and Gorsuch seem to think their opinions are more important than women like me and our existence. Fu*k 'em.

I certainly hope Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski (not sure on that spelling) are fricken happy. They were warned what was going to happen when they voted in Kavanaugh and Gorsuch and they did it anyway. Now they're all up in arms with the whole "We were promised this wouldn't happen". When tf did political judges suddenly not lie for political gain?! 78% of Americans think that abortion should be a choice left up to a woman and her doctor per a politico poll. The conservatives on the supreme court are under the impression they mean more than 78% of Americans.....

I really cannot understand why government needs to make laws on things that are private. Forbidding abortions is not going to increase the number of happy children that are loved and fully supported.
While I have allowed my license to practice to expire (I dind't renew it), I hold an MD. Thi sis a medical decision, based on several factors, including patient's quality of life, mental health, financial circumstances, and any given pre-existing conditions such as cysts, IBS, etc., that may affect the patient's health or the fetus's. Research from PEW among otheres shows that the demographics aren't at all what people pretend. And basic OB/GYN shows that yoyu're not aborting a precious itty bitty baby. You're removing what will, I'm sorry, look a lot like a salamander. ________ In short: GET OUT OF OUR MEDICAL DECISIONS.

The interesting thing is that those same "pro-lifers" tend to completely ignore the fact that high air pollution and water pollution rates in the US tend to cause miscarriage, as do unsafe working conditions for pregnant women, or for that matter, the fact that pregnant women get no medical care and maternity leave unless they're rich. All of those things cause fetuses to die. I have not seen a single "pro-lifer" say a word about those innocent fetuses, who were wanted and loved and whose demise could have been prevented.

Somehow we got into the topic of abortion during a random conversation and I mentioned r@pe/SA (and the scenario that's probably happened before of a pregnant woman in danger cause if her family found out, they would k!ll her for honor or whatever. i know this happens in some places and it sucks.) and she said "those are exceptions". ...what do i say to that-? The only plus of this sh*t is that by violating the sanctity of respecting past Supreme Court decisions, we can 1-Have Biden appoint 4 more SCOTUS justices. 2- Undo this decision. 3. Conservatives don’t want to reduce or prevent abortions, they want to control women. The best way to reduce abortions according to studies? Provide access to free long lasting birth control like IUDs with counselling. According to a study, it reduces abortions by 1/3 to 1/2, significantly more than outlawing or punishing abortions. But no conservative espouses this because it doesn’t punish or control women.

Blah. Everyone should know by now that anti-abortion talk is only about control of women's bodies. Nothing more. It isn't about saving any lives. It's so damn sad that we still have to protest this. Every woman (yes, only women) should be able to make a choice if they want to risk their life to become mothers, if they don't they need access to safe abortions without any judgment. It isn't a baby unless you want it to be, if you don't want it there it's a parasite with the potential to damage her chance of life in many ways.
If you want to protest, do it in a way that hurts. 1-Boycott small businesses owned by conservatives. 2- Waste their time by applying for jobs. When they make you an offer, tell em pass because they are Republicans. 3-Reduce or skip shopping at conservative owned businesses. When Xmas comes, buy nothing from them. 4-Stop buying anything that isn't essential. 5-Promise churches donations of time and $. Skip it. Overturning Roe would be unconstitutional AND unChristian. 1 USC § 8 defines a human being to include an "infant member of the species homo sapiens *who is born alive*. It does not include an embryo or fetus, neither of which have been "born alive." You cannot take rights away from actual human beings in order to grant rights to non-humans. And Genesis 2:7 defines "human being" for Christians: And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and *breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.* Adam was not a living being and did not have a soul until AFTER the first breath of life.

The day we have dreaded has finally dawned on us! Roe v Wade has been overturned, and it is a sad day for many. I am not American, (infact, in my country abortion has been illegal from time immemorial “unless there’s is a compelling medical reason for one to be carried out”) but I am a human, I am a woman, and I stand by the fact that a woman should have autonomy over her body and all that it can store or expel! This is a hill I am willing to die on. Sadly, my country cannot even dream about legalizing abortions as it is a “Christian nation”, 3rd world country whose citizens have to suffer and toil to put 1 meal a day every couple of days to survive, with more street kids that any orphanage knows what to do with! Tis a sad day today, and going into the future we pray for our sisters in the United States and everywhere in the world where we have to fight men and the system for the autonomy that we deserve over our bodies!

It is fairly easy to place a child for adoption, but far too difficult, depending on the state, to adopt that child. The foster care system is notorious for rampant child abuse. When we were looking into adoption, we were told it would take years, not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees and court costs. It is a broken system.

Does my right to life not matter? If I had another child it could kill me - but I'm lucky to be in a country with the nhs so I decided to get sterilised - could still happen though. Why must my life come second so anyone else can have a chance to live? You can't take my blood, marrow, organs from me, even after death, without me agreeing to it even if saying no means someone will certainly die. It's my right as a human being. But not only are you expecting women to let their body be used to prevent someone's death but also expecting them to then change the course of their life forever. In the unlikely event I end up pregnant again I will need to choose abortion to protect not just myself, but the 4 kids I already have from losing their mother, from my husband losing his wife and possibly his job due to having 4 kids to look after, if he can't work they'd not be able to pay the mortgage so would lose their home. This is more complex than "killing is wrong"

Thi sis a medical decision, based on several factors, including patient's quality of life, mental health, financial circumstances, and any given pre-existing conditions such as cysts, IBS, etc., that may affect the patient's health or the fetus's. Research from PEW among otheres shows that the demographics aren't at all what people pretend. And basic OB/GYN shows that yoyu're not aborting a precious itty bitty baby. You're removing what will, I'm sorry, look a lot like a salamander. ________ In short: GET OUT OF OUR MEDICAL DECISIONS.

I agree and read an interesting article on this. Apparently it's due to these women having been raised in male dominated environments where they have very little or no power. Controlling other women or reporting on black people gives them some semblance of power. They're sadists pure and simple.

Every woman (yes, only women) should be able to make a choice if they want to risk their life to become mothers, if they don't they need access to safe abortions without any judgment. When Xmas comes, buy nothing from them. 4-Stop buying anything that isn't essential. 5-Promise churches donations of time and $. Skip it.
