In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. But now the Supreme Court wants to turn the U.S. into a dystopian hellscape by overturning abortion rights.
According to the initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito that circulated inside the court, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.” The document also stated that “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
The decision, which is expected to go formal in June, will open up the nation’s 31 Republican-controlled states to pass severe or total abortion restrictions. And this did not sit well with people who went into tears watching Elizabeth Warren fuming with anger on Tuesday when she gave her speech.
So they took to the internet to show rage and despair over the American court system that yet again failed its people, especially those at their most vulnerable.

Because these aren't "pro-lifers", they are pro-religion and pro-control. They don't give two shits what happens to the baby after it's born, and certainly not the mother during pregnancy, nor the nearly two decades afterward. I am livid.

If men got pregnant, there'd be drive thru abortion clinics, kits sold in pharmacies, it'd be as easy as buying a cup of coffee
And I'm pro-Maria who found out that she was pregnant by suffering from hyperemisis gravidarum for the third time and now had to choose between burdening her existing kids and spouse with that pregnancy again while risking her own life again with a good risk of also removing all remaining mobility in her body and suffering PTSD and post-partum depression again or terminate. That is a legitimate, medical reason to terminate. Even if someone had paid my pregnancy bills, it still would have killed the family, ripped me and my spouse apart toward a divorce and then we'd have an extra life in the mix.
And I'm pro-Aaliyah, who was over the moon to find out she's pregnant and then had doctors tell her the baby has chromosome abnormalities and who has no means to pay for the extensive care the child will need and in her country "good care homes that are free/cheap" for such children do not exist. I am pro Laura. She has a extremly risk of complications, ectopic pregnancy and death if she gets pregnant. But at the same time she is denied over and over sterilisation by doctors. She might die horribly if she gets pregnant and the fetus will not come to term. But "pro lifers" dont care.
If pro-lifers are so pro-life then life may as well begin with the sperm. In which case every time a man ejaculates anywhere but inside a woman's vagina he is denying a baby's right to be born. I'll reply to cowardly Nathan here since he isn't allowing any replies on his post. Smashing a kid's skull against the wall is not the same thing as having an abortion but it does address the problem of people having children when they're not ready. His entire problem is viewing it as killing a baby. Regardless of all the medical literature available, these people view a less than 20 week old fetus the exact same way that they view a fully developed child. If the fetus needs a host in order to survive, it is not the same thing as a baby.

When I was fresh out of nursing school an 8-year-old girl came to my office and tested positive for pregnancy after being raped by her father's friend. The doctor said her body was not developed enough to carry this pregnancy successfully. It would have seriously injured and possibly killed her. Pro lifers don't care about her life.

And no one needs to know why they are making the choice - it doesn't matter if they were abused, or if the child has a genetic disorder, or the mother's socio-economic reasons for her choice - it is her choice and hers alone to make.
I'm pro-MyMother who had to choose between carrying a fourth pregnancy (three months after delivering a healthy boy) and leaving her children in the care of an alcoholic father and husband, or getting an abortion because her heart stopped during labor and the doctors tell her this new pregnancy could very well kill her. People close to me already had birth control fail and have a beautiful little boy they can barely afford to care for. Little man is 8 months old and bc has failed again. Because they were given the wrong information, they had to go back 3 days later & can't get an abortion because they heard a heart beat. She was 6 weeks & 2 days along. They are being forced to go out of state for this, not an easy decision, just so they can care for the child they already have. They can't make rent half the time with both of them working, but will have to miss work for this. I AM PRO-CHOICE - THE WOMAN'S CHOICE! What she decides is her business, no one else's. I feel for anyone who has to deal with this

I was a Britany. I am not sorry or ashamed. (Back then you had to walk through pro lifers and protests (and that was in the 90s, nothing really changes). I later became a wife and mother. I am still a, not ashamed. (Side note, ever notice those who want to ban abortion are men?). I live in Texas, where, until only weeks ago I could be arrested for driving someone to end a pregnancy. POLITICO notes that no draft decision in the modern history of the court has been disclosed publicly while a case was still pending. Moreover, the document, labeled as a first draft of the majority opinion, includes a notation that it was circulated among the justices on Feb. 10.
The document labeled as “Opinion of the Court” reads as follows: “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

One of the first Laws that Nelson Mandela rescinded when he was President of South Africa was the ban on abortion. This from a man who was in prison for 27 years. I had a pregnancy terminated because the heart valves were missing on the fetus. It wasn't going to live. I had the nursery all done up and was looking forward to finding out the sex so I could start buying clothes. I was devastated. If I would've carried the baby to term there's a possibility that it could've caused sepsis and I would die. If it didn't I would be giving birth to a dead baby. I certainly hope Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski (not sure on that spelling) are fricken happy. They were warned what was going to happen when they voted in Kavanaugh and Gorsuch and they did it anyway. Now they're all up in arms with the whole "We were promised this wouldn't happen". When tf did political judges suddenly not lie for political gain?! 78% of Americans think that abortion should be a choice left up to a woman and her doctor per a politico poll. The conservatives on the supreme court are under the impression they mean more than 78% of Americans.....

I really cannot understand why government needs to make laws on things that are private. Forbidding abortions is not going to increase the number of happy children that are loved and fully supported.
While I have allowed my license to practice to expire (I dind't renew it), I hold an MD. Thi sis a medical decision, based on several factors, including patient's quality of life, mental health, financial circumstances, and any given pre-existing conditions such as cysts, IBS, etc., that may affect the patient's health or the fetus's. Research from PEW among otheres shows that the demographics aren't at all what people pretend. And basic OB/GYN shows that yoyu're not aborting a precious itty bitty baby. You're removing what will, I'm sorry, look a lot like a salamander. ________ In short: GET OUT OF OUR MEDICAL DECISIONS.

All of those things cause fetuses to die. I have not seen a single "pro-lifer" say a word about those innocent fetuses, who were wanted and loved and whose demise could have been prevented.

Conservatives don’t want to reduce or prevent abortions, they want to control women. The best way to reduce abortions according to studies? Provide access to free long lasting birth control like IUDs with counselling. According to a study, it reduces abortions by 1/3 to 1/2, significantly more than outlawing or punishing abortions. But no conservative espouses this because it doesn’t punish or control women.

Blah. Everyone should know by now that anti-abortion talk is only about control of women's bodies. Nothing more. It isn't about saving any lives. It's so damn sad that we still have to protest this. Every woman (yes, only women) should be able to make a choice if they want to risk their life to become mothers, if they don't they need access to safe abortions without any judgment. It isn't a baby unless you want it to be, if you don't want it there it's a parasite with the potential to damage her chance of life in many ways.
If you want to protest, do it in a way that hurts. 1-Boycott small businesses owned by conservatives. 2- Waste their time by applying for jobs. Overturning Roe would be unconstitutional AND unChristian. 1 USC § 8 defines a human being to include an "infant member of the species homo sapiens *who is born alive*. It does not include an embryo or fetus, neither of which have been "born alive." You cannot take rights away from actual human beings in order to grant rights to non-humans. And Genesis 2:7 defines "human being" for Christians: And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and *breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.* Adam was not a living being and did not have a soul until AFTER the first breath of life.
@Nikki I wasn't making a point in opposition to you, btw, I was asking a question to problematise your assertion that biblically speaking, it is conclusive that human are so only after being born alive. I understand why you'd want to challenge Christians who use the Bible to argue otherwise, but this is a difficult and very nuanced matter that can't be solved through specific verses from the Bible.

The day we have dreaded has finally dawned on us! Roe v Wade has been overturned, and it is a sad day for many. I am not American, (infact, in my country abortion has been illegal from time immemorial “unless there’s is a compelling medical reason for one to be carried out”) but I am a human, I am a woman, and I stand by the fact that a woman should have autonomy over her body and all that it can store or expel! This is a hill I am willing to die on. It is fairly easy to place a child for adoption, but far too difficult, depending on the state, to adopt that child. The foster care system is notorious for rampant child abuse. When we were looking into adoption, we were told it would take years, not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees and court costs. It is a broken system.

Does my right to life not matter? If I had another child it could kill me - but I'm lucky to be in a country with the nhs so I decided to get sterilised - could still happen though. Why must my life come second so anyone else can have a chance to live? You can't take my blood, marrow, organs from me, even after death, without me agreeing to it even if saying no means someone will certainly die. It's my right as a human being. But not only are you expecting women to let their body be used to prevent someone's death but also expecting them to then change the course of their life forever. In the unlikely event I end up pregnant again I will need to choose abortion to protect not just myself, but the 4 kids I already have from losing their mother, from my husband losing his wife and possibly his job due to having 4 kids to look after, if he can't work they'd not be able to pay the mortgage so would lose their home. This is more complex than "killing is wrong"

I really cannot understand why government needs to make laws on things that are private. Forbidding abortions is not going to increase the number of happy children that are loved and fully supported.

Thi sis a medical decision, based on several factors, including patient's quality of life, mental health, financial circumstances, and any given pre-existing conditions such as cysts, IBS, etc., that may affect the patient's health or the fetus's. Research from PEW among otheres shows that the demographics aren't at all what people pretend. And basic OB/GYN shows that yoyu're not aborting a precious itty bitty baby. You're removing what will, I'm sorry, look a lot like a salamander. ________ In short: GET OUT OF OUR MEDICAL DECISIONS.

I agree and read an interesting article on this. Apparently it's due to these women having been raised in male dominated environments where they have very little or no power. Controlling other women or reporting on black people gives them some semblance of power. They're sadists pure and simple.

Provide access to free long lasting birth control like IUDs with counselling. According to a study, it reduces abortions by 1/3 to 1/2, significantly more than outlawing or punishing abortions. But no conservative espouses this because it doesn’t punish or control women.

Blah. Everyone should know by now that anti-abortion talk is only about control of women's bodies. Nothing more. It isn't about saving any lives. It's so damn sad that we still have to protest this. Every woman (yes, only women) should be able to make a choice if they want to risk their life to become mothers, if they don't they need access to safe abortions without any judgment. It isn't a baby unless you want it to be, if you don't want it there it's a parasite with the potential to damage her chance of life in many ways.
If you want to protest, do it in a way that hurts. 1-Boycott small businesses owned by conservatives. 2- Waste their time by applying for jobs. When they make you an offer, tell em pass because they are Republicans. 3-Reduce or skip shopping at conservative owned businesses. When Xmas comes, buy nothing from them. 4-Stop buying anything that isn't essential. 5-Promise churches donations of time and $. Skip it. Overturning Roe would be unconstitutional AND unChristian. 1 USC § 8 defines a human being to include an "infant member of the species homo sapiens *who is born alive*. It does not include an embryo or fetus, neither of which have been "born alive." You cannot take rights away from actual human beings in order to grant rights to non-humans. And Genesis 2:7 defines "human being" for Christians: And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and *breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.* Adam was not a living being and did not have a soul until AFTER the first breath of life.
