Meet ‘Egguins’, The Awesome New Kitchen Invention That Makes Boiling Eggs Easy And Fun
There are two things that I know for sure — I think that penguins are absolutely amazing, majestic creatures, and I would gladly have one as a pet; and I’m utterly hopeless at making boiled eggs. I either overcook them or undercook them, and can never get them to be just the way I like them.
Well, somebody is obviously my long-lost twin because they have the same likes and problems like me. A company called Peleg Design created a penguin egg cooker that lets you boil eggs inside the birds’ ‘tummies.’ Not only that, but you can also serve eggs inside these ‘Egguins.’ These puns are very much intended and are ‘eggcellent’ if I say so myself. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with Peleg Design.

These penguins are a great little kitchen gadget because they make boiling eggs a breeze, and it means you don’t have to watch out for splashing hot water. Nor do you have to ‘fish around’ for your eggs once they’re cooked.
Now, there are hundreds of ways to boil an egg. Delicious Meets Healthy writes that some people let their eggs sit in hot water that’s taken off the heat for around 15 minutes, or even bake their eggs in the oven for half an hour. But that sounds a bit difficult.
The general consensus among chefs is that around 4 to 5 minutes are enough for a soft-boiled egg and 8 to 9 for a hard-boiled one. The perfect egg takes 6-7 minutes to make. Naturally, I still manage to mess things up, even with clear guidelines like that. A pity I don’t have this cool design egg holder at home!
Peleg Design told Bored Panda that the inspiration behind the “Egguins” egg cooker was “the egg itself” because “the color and the form of the egg reminded us of the belly of a penguin.”
“At the same time, we were looking for a solution to improve the process of cooking a few eggs together, simultaneously. When we combined the new form and the new function, the Egguins family was born. Now, using this kitchen utensil creates a whole experience from the cooking to the storage, in a fun way.”
A company representative revealed the main philosophy behind Peleg Design: “The world of Peleg Design revolves around three basic principles: functionality, aesthetics, and humor. It is a world motivated by continuous curiosity with the explicit purpose to transform what was once an average, been-there-done-that concept into an innovative and truly exciting experience.”

Put eggs in cold water. Turn on heat. Start timer when it starts boiling (remove 2 minutes from usual time, so 3 minutes for soft, 6 minutes for hard). Drain hot water when done, fill pan with cold water (to cool the eggs and stop boiling). Get eggs out. No hot water splashes, no expensive useless plastic waste item.
that's how I always boil eggs - at one point at a breakfast party I got a whole group of friends worried, that the eggs wouldn't turn out the way they wanted and suddenly they all started giving me higher times. Took me a minute to figure out why.
Load More Replies...It looks like fragile plastic to me. as in it is going to break soon and make horrible little bits that will end up in "landfill" aka getting rained out to the streams and ocean. :((((
Load More Replies...Love the design, but what is wrong with using a bloody spoon to get your hot eggs out?!?!??!?!?!
I alway think that too. I also get cross when I see chopped veg and fruit, Has someone uninvented the knife.
Load More Replies...Not a thinly veiled advertisement for this product in the least. Nope.
$21.99 USD for something utterly useless... and plastic to boot. :( http://www.dudeiwantthat.com/household/kitchen/egguins-cook-store-serve-egg-holder.asp Also, the writer's puns are complete cringe.
I also don't like this. It's unnecessary and a waste of plastic, that we are trying to reduce in the world now!!!
Almost everyone said but I'm going to repeat it: Hey Bored Panda, If you would stop advertising useless plastic items while we got a plastic soup problem, that would be great!!!
I've never boiled eggs and thought to myself " gee, setting these eggs in the water with a ladle is just too much work".
It doesn't help with timing your eggs, so it doesn't really make boiling them correctly any easier. From the British point of view, you can serve the eggs in it either. We usually eat boiled eggs hot. You put them in a little egg cup, cut the top off, and eat the contents with a teaspoon, like eating a yoghurt from a pot. And also dipping fingers of bread or toast into a soft boiled yolk. You can't do that with the eggs in this nonsense.
This family in Australia butters and Vegemites our toast before cutting it up into strips to dip. :D
Load More Replies...Is this a sponsored article? Because it really comes across like hard shilling. I get very turned-off when there is no gap between adverts and content. Even a "SPONSORED" banner on the link image would make this more palatable.
Yeah, like all the other comments say, we dont need any more useless plastic when Earth is polluted enough and it IS probably just gonna end up in a landfill... The easier option would be to just boil your eggs the same way everyone else does...
I feel like this is more global dystopian prophecy than product placement.
It's not necessary and I don't need it... but... I need it. Does that make sense?
I like it, but only brown eggs are the norm here; it wouldn't look right.
In my country brown eggs are also the norm. White used to be associated with chicken farm batteries (if that is the correct definition?) which were&are considered cruel as living conditions for chickens. However I've learned that both white & brown eggs can BOTH be free range eggs. The color of the chickens lobe, determines IF an egg is white or brown :-) White - free range - eggs are much, much, much less costly, since I am aware of this fact I always buy free range white eggs & saving heaps :-)

If you are so inept that you can't boil an egg, you shouldn't be around a stove.
The problem for me is not the cooking. It's the peeling. My hard boiled eggs always look abused.
when i finish with boiling my eggs i put them in cool water so the middle isnt blue it sorta freaks me out bc my brain is like, "blue... blue food... blue cheese... .OMG BLUE CHEESE =MOLD!!! Do NoT eAt" so ya
boiling eggs is already really easy. no one needs more plastic c**p in their lives.

Load More Replies...I know this is an advert, and normally they annoy me, but I read Bored Panda for free. So, when selected ads come up, I read them. This one made me very smiley, and I want to now smile at my egg boiling. Also, for the cynics, I have no bloody clue who the company owners are. Nothing wrong with adverts if they fit with the readership, and they are not intrusive. That's my twopennyworth anyway.
