This 3ft 4in Model Is Breaking All Stereotypes In The Fashion Industry
Dru Presta, 21, is set to change the fashion industry. This beautiful girl was born with a form of dwarfism and is 3 feet 4 inches (around 1 meter) tall, but that does not stop her from following her dreams of a photo model and inspiring people along the way.
From a very young age, Dru was bullied because of her condition, achondroplasia. Dru is the only person in her family with dwarfism, so there were not many people in her hometown of Reno, Nevada, that were able to understand what she was going through. However, all the mean words did not stop the beautiful woman; they made her stronger instead.
She moved to LA and started modeling to break the boundaries of the fashion industry beauty standards and inspire other people with similar conditions to follow their dreams.
“I want everybody in the fashion world just to be accepted. I want anybody to be able to walk that runway just like any fashion model would – whether you see them rolling down the runway in your wheelchair or on crutches.”

Share on FacebookI think like with "plus sized" models, the real challenge is that designers tend to design for a specific body type... but she makes everything she's wearing look good. She's killin' it.
I think that’s fallacious thinking and here’s why: more than half of American women are overweight, and that’s putting it lightly. Yet the models for the clothes people buy are all like in the bottom 10% of weight. Most models are skinny AF, which works out fine because bigger people still buy the clothes. She’s just a model. She can still model clothing for taller people. Most of us don’t buy size zero clothing. But we see size zero models on the runway and still go buy those fashions. Seeing a cool top on a tiny person doesn’t make a taller person want it less. I’d wear some of the outfits she displayed. It’s about the clothes, not the model. Plus sized models are marketing clothes for plus sized women, which is a separate challenge. But this tiny model could just market clothes to average height women. I don’t think she’s asking designers to open a new market of tiny outfits. She just wants to be let on the runway.
Load More Replies...What makes you say you'd want to be her friend? I'm genuinely curious as to why you would say that. You know nothing about her.
Load More Replies...She's stunning. I hope she accomplishes her goals. Such an inspiring story.
This is so inspiring! It inspires everyone, even those without the condition, to be themselves and love themselves for who they are. Congratulations, and thank you for inspiring everyone!
Breaking stereotypes? What, like fashion companies cater their advertising to appeal to their largest clientele demographics? It's not discrimination FFS. This is ridiculous. It's fine for her to model and all that, but to pretend it's discrimination to not cater to an extremely small % of the population is nuts. I'm sure she's put up with a lot of s**t in her life and good for her to do the modelling, but let's not create a false narrative here. Why does everyone get butthurt about physicality? We're not all built for the NBA but guys 5'8" aren't out to "challenge stereotypes about basketball"
Must be nice to be able to walk in to a store and buy off the rack. Fashion designing for little people is indeed a small niche. But a woman who is not 5'5" to 5'10" and size 0 to size 10 will find that clothing in stores is designed for this narrow range. Petite, tall, 125+ lb, or obese women find that items "in their size" might technically fit, but look ridiculous, because they are DESIGNED for a fictitious "average" woman, a VERY NARROW SEGMENT of the _actual_ consumer market. So designers and clothing manufacturers are NOT catering to their "largest clientele demographics," FFS.

People who have s**t self esteem (I'm certainly given to that) can overcome their lack of confidence by telling themselves, I am worthy, I am beautiful, unique etc. And eventually if you say it enough in your head, you'll start to believe it. You can lie to your subconscious, and your subconscious will start to take it all in. We end up being who we tell ourselves we are. Like your are what you eat.
Your kick-butt attitude, is exactly why you're the kinda person I'd like to know. :) Food for thought: send your images over to designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Alexander McQueen - they both regularly used non-traditional models in their shows! (especially JP Gaultier). And.... there is an agency in the UK that *specialises* in non-traditional models. Their biggest models are making a TON due to their uniqueness. ugly.org (seriously) :) I hope you rock it!! :D
She is beautiful, but more importantly, we see a strong personality and centered sense of self confidence shining through. She should pursue her dreams, study any subject she wants.
She's not trying to display "dwarf fashion" which is an offensive thing to say but I suspect you already knew that. She's trying to display fashion plain and simple. The fact that she might be different isn't what she's trying to gear the fashion toward if I'm understanding it correctly. I believe it's more about different types of bodies in the fashion world as opposed to one type of body modeling all types of clothing for every type of woman.
Load More Replies...Wow, she is incredibly photogenic! She looks great at every single photo.
She seems so nice? How can you tell that?
Load More Replies...She's beautiful. I had a friend in high school with dwarfism and she was beautiful too, and incredibly loving, brave and funny. She loved reggae and dressed beautifully. We all thought she was the coolest chick in school
Well she was wearing few clothes in a few of pictures so maybe it was hot out side.
Load More Replies...I have seen confidence before, but Dru is absolutely oozing confidence! Good for you! Gorgeous and you know it!
follow your dreams, no matter how many doubters you have, prove them wrong
