The brain is a truly fantastic thing. The same organ that’s capable of controlling a myriad of passive as well as active bodily functions, comprehending elaborately complex concepts, and providing a unique kind of sentience is also the organ that often slips us a dumb idea. Or two. OK, much more.

But, hey, not all ideas are dumb, despite you thinking so. A curious Twitter user by the name of Bijan asked the internet what’s the dumbest idea people ever had, but are nevertheless convinced it’d still make the world a better place for all.

I also think they should live on an "average" wage for a year or two so they understand what the average person/family have to go through.

Legalize weed across the states, tax it, and use that money to repair the roads. Call it Operation Pothole.

Well in Australia it is illegal to ask a breastfeeding mother to leave or move elsewhere etc. Doesn't matter if she is feeding in the middle of a shopping centre, a restaurant etc. From my observations, it seems that other women are the ones that complain about breastfeeding in public, a lot more than men do.

This one makes me so sad, especially because of how women and PoC are so much more routinely dismissed, leading to sometimes dire consequences.

Sounds good but as someone who used to work in a similar environment I can say it does not work. We had about 75 flavours (not ice cream) and had a tasting station for all. Also had a million accessories and spare parts and each device we sold had their own specific ones so it really did matter which one you needed. When the queue was too long we tried several times to tell them that those who know EXACTLY what they want, as in exact flavour and amount and specific name/type of accessories should go to one of us, those who need assistance or want to try something new to the other. EVERY single time the "I know what I want" queue comprised of people who started with "well, I want a couple of new flavours so I think I'll try all your fruity ones!" or "I need one of those doohickeys for that thing I have, I'm sure you'd know! No, of course I don't know the type of my device OR have it with me to show you. That's your job!"

In the US it's a thing. If you can, search "Curb Your Enthusiasm ice cream flavors" and that clip will show why two lines are needed in places that offer sampling.

I'll never forget the woman who wanted one scoop with a bit of all 50 flavors in it. There were over a dozen in line and no other staff on yet.

Wow, here you'd just get told to pick one flavour per scoop or get out. Maybe not that rudely, but you get the gist.

Similar for movie theatre snack lines. Those with 6 kids in tow should be made to have a list of what the kids want instead of asking the kids when they get to the head of the queue

I would love this I am the one with five kids and am indecisive myself It would be so great to be able to take all the time we need without feeling bad for everyone else waiting and rushing my kids

When I am in this much of a hurry for ice cream, I go to my freezer where the "Moose Tracks" flavor already is waiting for me. The Ice cream shop should not be a stressful place.

In the UK we do not have any of this 'trying flavours' BS. If you asked you would just be told to piss off

ALL stores should have two lines. One specially for those who don't engage their brain until the get to the front.

Any place where you order food. A line for those who know what they want and one for those still deciding. But this reminds me of someone else's idea (Gallagher, maybe?) of labeling lines SMART PEOPLE and STUPID PEOPLE. All the stupid people think they're smart and would get in the SMART line. But smart people don't mind others thinking they're stupid, so they get in the much shorter, much faster moving STUPID line.

In all the ice cream stores I've been to where I live, you just pick flavours and have them. You don't get to taste the flavours first, just pick what sounds good and deal with what you get.

And a 3rd line for children who fake wanting to try 130,380 types before deciding. hahaha. I don't let me children do this but man would they like to.

I think this would work in pubs too. One area of the bar is strictly for ordering simple drinks like pints and another part for ordering cocktails.....and never shall they cross!

That should be acceptable. HOWEVER, it should go both ways. I am tried of being polite while a cashier ignores me and gossips with a coworker or cops an attitude.

I saw a report on some show where they were actually testing the viability of this. In Greenland, IIRC.

It's certainly not that simple and the US isn't evenly split. Also many "red states" are only red because those in power are messing with election laws so the political leaning of the masses might be different. There are also plenty of conservatives in "blue states"
