I Create Stone Sculptures Without Any Cement Or Glue

My name is Devin Devine and I create dry stone art. Pushing dry stone walling about as far as it can go, these sculptures and landscape features are all held together by gravity. Well, all told these are held together by Gravity, friction, willpower, and love.

No cement, not one drop is used creating these pieces. Not that I’m against cement, or against anything, for that matter. but it’s important to me, that this project was built in full cooperation with nature.

In Istria this kind of technique is folk lore. Being an Istrian myself, this post pretty much warms my heart. Keep up the good work and stay creative. ♥

Wow, awesome. I also live in Istria, I love rocks because they have soul. I also work with the stone myself. Maybe one day I'll make a ball of stone, thanks the artist for the idea. I'm Dario B, really. Nice greeting from Istria.

Wow. I can't even fathom the talent it takes to create something like this. We've been building natural stone walls around our property over the past 10 years and just getting things to come out even and looking relatively level is still a challenge for us. Thank you for sharing these!

This is great work. I had a neighbor when I was a kid who could do some nice dry-stone walls - not as complex as yours. It's good to see people keeping up these classic arts and taking them to the next level.

You are so talented. Your palette is gorgeous, and your work is inspiring. You really have an artist's eye. The sculptures reflect the beauty of nature, which some people forget to remember. Thank you, and I am looking forwards to seeing new works posted by you! (Hint: post more!)

These are stunning.. If I could afford one and had somewhere to put it (New Yorker here) I'd want one with cement, my friends drink a lot.

These are very cool, reminds me of the work of Scottish artist Andy Goldsworthy (Rivers and Tides movie). Andy typically uses found (in situ) rocks so they're not as smooth looking as yours, don't know if you've seen his work but you should google him...

1000 years from now, humans will find these sculptures and claim that they were made by aliens!

It's so hard to believe that these don't just blow over into a pile of stones. Then I looked at pictures of Istria drywall ... wow! I have a wall made of cinder blocks on my property holding back soil from a sidewalk and I would kill to use this method instead. I'm betting I could never afford it tho.

Absolutely amazing! And gorgeous. I wonder if they are sturdy. Are they delicate? I'd hate to see them blown over.

I love seeing true craftsmanship, especially when it is this beautiful, amazing, and unexpected. What a wonderful adaption of a traditional skill!
